  1. I'm completing my son's first British Adult Passport. But have got confused and stuck with the supporting documentation. And wondered if anyone could help with clarifications.

    I have the following documents:

    1) British Birth Certificate that says under his name claim to citizenship - S2(1) (a) British Nationality Act 1981

    2) Thai Birth certificate (With Translation)

    3) Marriage Certificate (With Translation)

    4) My British Birth Certificate

    5) School Report

    6) His Thai ID Card

The key question is I suppose does the British Birth Certificate count as the certificate of registration?

ifnot then I'm stuck as my wife does not have a birth certificate. Her parents were never issued one, when she was born so can't provide that.

I've been going through this for too long and gotten confused. Any advice appreciated.

  2. What about the following requirement in the original post?

    5. Must have made a donation to a charitable orgaisation in Thailand IE: Por Tek Tung etc.

What kind of donation do they mean?

Has anyone any further information, as I've been here for 16 years married with a child and planning on retiring here in a few years.

  3. The owner of my apartment building applied a new strategy.

As a result of the 300 Baht minimum wage hike he has canceled the contract with the security company.

They were asking 50% more and he could not shoulder the extra expenses.

No more security guards as of April 1st.

    3 guys lost their job.

I doubt that they lost their jobs, more than likely they were transferred to another site that was suffering from shortages. The security market is short of security guards, so when customers like this cancel because they really cannot afford the price increase that has been enforced on security providers the guards are sent to other sites to reduce the credit notes that security companies have to give customers often at a substantially higher charge than the cost of the missing security guard.

  4. Thinking of installing Mint Debian on XP machine myself, read that it's user friendly n all. Anybody have any experience/comments with Mint? Is it better than Ubuntu?

I've been running mint debian on my laptop since they first released it, without too many problems, there was an update that completely broke my nvidia-glx installation but that was all.

It's pretty good, and now they have the update packs to prevent the problem that I and many others experienced. It's worth a shot. I still use the debian testing repositories instead of the default update repositories but I do enjoy a challenge as you learn a great deal in the process of fixing it.

If you're not certain then try it in virtual box under XP before committing.
