  1. I hate human traffickers as much as I hate kiddy fiddlers. Once the perpetrators are caught they should be whipped with a cat 'o' nine tails and shoved into a windowless cell for 5 years and feed bread and water and allowed no human contact. If they die....to bad. And don't whine to me about a fair trial....cos their victims didn't get a fair go, why should they.

Well they should get a fair trail so they are sure the right people get locked up. But the minimum sentance should be at least 15 years.

But the main problem is that most of tes traficers can continue thier buissness because the police is to buisy with other things (collecting their tea money)

Thailand get rid of coruption in all classes and upper the life standerd of your citisance and these monstrosites will not happen so often

  2. This is a terrible blow for Thailand. There has to be more respect for the rule of law. This is what happens when you let protesters have their way, anywhere and anytime. They also should have stopped the yellow shirts before they occupied the airport too. It is a mindset that has to stop in Thailand. Protests are fine, given the govt. controls the time and place. The rule of law must come back to Thailand or these anarchists will have their way. Nothing democratic about what is happening now.

I hope a lesson is learned and those responsible will face harsh penalities. Thailand, as we know it, is at stake.

If Thailand does not get rid of the coruption that is in all layers of police, government...

There will not be much respect for the law

  3. The fact is that women, children have been killed by the Thai army. I doubt that that 10 year old was shooting grenades at the army. Even reporters from The Nation have reported seeing a women shot in the head while she was overlooking the riots.

Red cross helper get shot and killed. This is not even suppose to happen in a war zone.

These are things that are not excusable. Ok the people are stupid for walking around in these areas. But a child is a child and a women is a women. Not so difficult to see by the army soldiers or snipers.

Seh Daeng Killed by a sniper bullet...

He may have not be a decent person but if an army sniper shot him i would call this excessive force no?

3 reporters where shot! How many time do you hear this in other conflicts?

Ok innocent people will always get hurt in these situations.

Amnesty International is a widely respected organisation.

Some people should look at the whole picture in stead of being yellow, red, pink or what ever color. There has been a staggering amount of deaths and casualty. While some might have been necessary many where not.

We are all human being imagine one of your family members being one of the victims.

  4. Why doe they have to disperse a crowd with live ammunition? I've seen several time hooligans being dispersed with a water canon.

Why do these clashes always have to be so bloody and cause so many casualty's?

Because the red insurgents are using LETHAL weapons, that's why. Duh.

    Water cannon is armored duh...

Beside this there are enough non lethal measures that can be applied. Ever heard of high frequency tone speakers, teargas, rubber bullets...

  5. Honestly after weeks of looking for a nice wedding band in Bkk - as in not that yellow soft thing they use there but durable white gold, we just gave up and bought it overseas. You might have had some luck around Paragon or Siam Center but...

You're sayinig you can't find wedding bands in Bangkok? I find that very hard to believe.

Try World Gems. They have a huge store in Bangkok. I haven't been to the Bangkok branch, but I picked up some very nice wedding bands at their Pattaya branch.

The good thing about buying there is that you'll get a guarantee certificate which allows you to trade it in anytime for something of equal value. If you want a new ring, or you get a divorce you can just trade it in for something else. They'll clean and polish it anytime for free, or repair it if damaged.

For example, an 18k gold ring with single 0.16 ct diamond (for the wife) cost 28K. A large 18 ct ring for me cost 22K + 1K to expand it to size 72.

How much was the weight of the ring?

2 years ago i had a ring custom made in Koh Samui and i paid a little under 1.000 bath per gram of 18ct white gold. I have went to some gold shops in Central shopping mall and there the price seems about 70% higher.

  6. I bought my wife a wedding ring from a specialist lapidary, where the Thais go. I have a card for it somewhere. If it turns up, I will message you. Very, very good price. They replaced a stone for free when it fell out. Not one of these dodgy gold shops either.

If you could let me know the contact details i would highly apreciate it.

  7. Like i said in my first post i do not want a 24 ct ring this is a wedding ring and is suppose to last not bend and dent because the gold is to soft.

Anny way i do not want to start a pro and con discussion about 24 ct gold.

I am looking for a white yellow gold mixed ring, there can be some diamonds in but they not have to be big.

Can anyone help me find a store in BKK?

  8. Well 30 april might not be long enough...

My father was supose to fligh out yesterday via Frankfurt. They could put him on a waiting list for athens or rome but he had to see that he got home from there by him self...

Thai Arways could only rebooked his flight the earlyest on 2 MAY. All the planes befor this date are fully booked.

It was only fair to do this.

It will save a lot of troubled people something else to worry about.

  9. What was the other company you used?

There is a company named Big Move. Maybe this is the company that was referred?

Beware of this one, i booked them for domestic move and while the price was in line with the others their terms and conditions were beyond bad.

Asked about their insurance coverage few times and day before the move got the information and their quotation for additional coverage. They cover damages to your stuff up to 20% of their fee which was around 2400 baht in my case and for additional coverage they quoted insane 50% fee of the value insured.

So cancelled immediately and got other company to do it and their price was same (12k) including insurance up to 100k value for damaged goods and additional coverage was available at 1.5% of the value insured.

  10. Of course, there are reasons other than cheap sex that one would want to live here;

The way that you are made to feel welcome, the ease of obtaining a visa and staying long term, the stability of the Government.

Thailand is virtually corruption free the police and Immigration are helpful and polite, you are treated as an equal everything that is 'open' to a Thai national is also 'open' to you at the same price.

The infrastructure is the best, excellent roads, abundant cheap fresh water, and guaranteed electricity 24/7 this coupled with a pollution free atmosphere ensures a stress free environment.

Driving in Thailand is a pleasure, the people are so courteous when driving, the taxi's and tuk-tuk's are safe and offer a cheap and reliable way to get around, fatal accidents are almost unheard of; if you are unfortunately involved in an accident, you can rest assured that you will receive the best available treatment at one of the many State hospitals, of course at the same price as a Thai national.

A visit to one of the numerous bars where you can engage in an intellectual conversation with one of the girls is a must. When you get fed up with the bar scene, you can take a massage, visit a temple or you can visit one of the many museums and art galleries scattered around major cities. Of course, you can simply walk around and take in the abundant amazing architecture.

Shopping is an experience not to be missed, you can rest assured that you will be given the fairest price; the local products are first class and all come with a 'no quibble' money back guarantee.

When it is time to eat there is so much to choose from, there is rice, noodles, frogs, insects all prepared personally for you in a hygienic environment, there are also plenty of cheap International restaurants.

If you decide to invest in Thailand, you may want to seriously consider purchasing a property this is a safe easy fuss free operation, and offers a great return on your investment.

You will soon make many friends in the land of smiles many of whom will at some time ask to borrow money have no fear these requests are genuine and prompt repayment is guaranteed.

Once you have 'settled into' your trouble free dream home and you have children there will come a time when you will have to start thinking about education, this is not an issue there are many affordable English Programme schools with highly qualified teaching staff. You always have the option of sending your children to a State School these offer some of the best facilities in Asia, then onto one of the many cheap internationally recognised Universities.

Oh, did I mention the cheap sex industry?

You just broke the sarcasm meter.

I guess that many people are so happy about some pro's about Thailand that they just forget about the con's. Or maybe the cons do not apply to them because of age, income, family status...

  11. What would happened if your son is currently serving the in Belgium military and he returns to Thailand for a vacation before the age of 30. And let say that the Thai military forces him to serve in the military. How to do sort out this mess? Just a thought.

    Thank's for the info.

I Belgium there is no longer military duty, they still have an army but only on voluntary basis so this should not be problem.

Who knows maybe in 20 Years there will also not be military duty in Thailand. We never knows what the future brings but i would like to keep his options open for when he is old enough to decide for him self.

Oh yes from how old can he be forced in the military? 18 years

  12. bushke,

    it works like this:

my three kids have dual american/israeli citizenship. they leave israel on israeli passports, and enter america on american passports. to do it any other way is illegal. yes, sometimes immigration asks questions, in which case, u show the other passport and id card of your country u left, and vice versa.... when entering or leaving other countries, i suppose u have to just use one passport and both enter and exit with it, so that the stamps are matched up. i have two passports amrican and israeli. i went with husband (thai) to thailand. i used only israeli passport to leave here, and enter thailand. he left israel iwth thai passport but israeli id card, entered thailand, then came back using thai passport but entereing as israeli resident. the minute he will have an israeli passport, he will leave and enter here (israel) wit that passport, and enter and leave thailand with the thai passport.

    Thanks for explaining the procedure.

My son is only 2 years old so he still does not have an ID card not a Thai one or Belgian. This will also be the first time he leaves Thailand. Can this be an issue for immigration?

I still have some other questions if somebody could help me with some answers it would be much appreciated:

When his passport is finished can i just renew it in the Thai embassy in Belgium or does it has to happen in Thailand?

You can't be forced into it over the age of 30. I have the rules lying around somewhere, and have read them with a fine tooth comb before I even dared sort out my situation. At 30, you automatically get kicked off. There is an allowance also for people who can't attend till the age of 30 in those rules, and given that you were out of the country during that time of conscription and could not physically attend, there will be no army sanction. As I said, I only paid a small fine for reporting late, and that was paid at the police station. (the receipt of the fine was needed to process the discharge papers).

Trust me on this one, I went through the process myself and everything happened according to the book.

So if my son enters Thailand before he is 30 he will be automatically be eligible for the army and he has the obligation to report himself?

You are right that to apply for a Thai passport, in Thailand, you need to have to have both a BC and be on a house register.

The issue with not on a central blue book is a problem my mother had as well. After 35 years of being off one, she had to go to the central registry where she was on the tabieen baan klang, and then get transferred off it. Only then, could she go back on our family's house book and then get her ID card. I suspect you are on the central registry, as that is where people are generally moved to if they come off a blue book and have nowhere to go. It is also where children go on automatically when they are born, and before they are moved to a normal house registration.

I suggest you find out where to get access to the central registry. They deal often with people who are not on the house book.

My son is now registered on the blue book of the family of my wife. Does he stay there forever or does he get removed when he is not in Thailand for a certain amount of time?

  13. Yes, I say that it is an excellent idea to get a Thai passport before your son leaves Thailand. Both of my sisters are Thai citizens and US citizens.(Thai by birth and US by naturalization.) When they enter and exit Thailand at the immigration points, they use Thai passports. When they enter and exit the US, they use the US passports. There is a believe by a few Thais that if you get a Thai citizenship, then you have to surrender your other citizenship/passport. This is strange to me in that I could just ask the US consulate to issue me another passport.

If your sisters enter and exit Thailand and US whit different passports is this not an issue for immigration because one passport has only going out stamps and an other has only going is stamps?

When his passport is finished can i just renew it in the Thai embassy in Belgium or does it has to happen in Thailand?

I think that in Belgium it is allowed to have dual nationality. I believe in Germany you can have dual nationality till you are an adult and then you have to change to a single nationality (heard from a friend...).

But i guess this is not the case for Thai nationality

  14. Is it possible to have a dual nationality as Thai.

I am a Farang but my son is half Thai i am moving in August with my family to Europe in July.

But i want to see that i keep his papers in order that if he chooses to return to Thailand when he is an adult that he has the choice and that he does not have to endure all the visa trouble to stay.

He is registered in a blue book, has a Thai birth certificate and i just applied for a Belgium passport for him is it a smart idea to apply for a Thai passport also?
