  1. For some 15+ years I've gone to the Savitri-Sharin Clinic at 95/2-3 Kochsarn Road. It's on the outside moat road, one block before you come to the southeast corner. Open daily 9-12 and again 5pm-8pm; closed Sunday evenings. Phone number is 053-275-330.

The husband (Dr Sharin)-wife (Dr Savitri) team has a very good clinic. English is excellent; both studied in the USA. Very personable and willing to thoroughly discuss your needs. Walk-in is common, and the wait is usually no more than 20 minutes. Many expats as well as more financially fit Thais go here. He's not the cheapest doctor in town (I'd seen a few of those doctors prior to Dr Sharin); I think he's well worth a few extra baht.

Certainly not the cheapest Dr in town .I was charged 500 baht for a normal consultation and the drugs perscribed were far more expensive then purchasing fom a pharmacy. As a previous poster said medical issues are a personal issue however I just could not justify the extra cost. Maybe thats why the waiting time is short.

Saw the bill from the mentioned clinic. Simple Chest xray cost 1000B,which normally we pay 250-400 baht for it.

  2. Please do not get upset but I think most of farang who live here do not pat tax, do they?

Just a 20-30 baht extra for the local to spend to maintain all the facilities at temple and national parks, is quite reasonable.

  3. Go to the local morget near warorot market.

plenty of fresh veggies with cheap price delivered everyday from royal project(Certain shops).

If you do worry about insecticides contamination and not sure which shop you can find good veggie, then go to Rimping.

  4. I had some sensible replies and quotes from Chiang Mai lawyers today (politely asked for an estimate of costs for a pre-nup agreement), but here's a paranoid response from one (who shall remain nameless)...
Do you know me ?? I think you are checking around which lawyer can help and how much

Er, well yes, that was the general idea....

If you are real I will send you but it costs

What - it costs to have an estimate of the charge involved? I replied that I was indeed real (in fact had signed the original email with name, address in CM, and phone number). Have heard nothing back since (ok, I was a touch sarcastic).

    Weird.

I know of one lawyer in CM who would be inclined to send a response such as you have quoted. And I would avoid him even if I was on my last legs in the desert.

He must have dreams every night that his law practice is in Manhattan because his fees reflect that.

One thing about lawyer is that they behave the same, dilusion of being big boss having power in their hands.

  5. I gusee you need suggestion on something not medication.

You can try Garlic, pepper, pepper corn.

There are lots of them in capsules so it is easy to take.

However, if it is very high, you do need medications to control your blood preaasure.

Comination Therapy ,ie,Hydrochlorothiazide(if you do not have gout) with ACEI or ARB is better than single medication.

Avoid salt, MSG and sallty food.

Eat more vegetable and whole grain.

    Reduce high saturated food product.

Keep regular aerobic exercise, brisk walk, swimmimg (best) at least 30 mins 3-4 times a week.

    Stop smoking if you do.

  6. Are you sure your TV out of warranty?? Niyom to me they are the biggest cheat in town. My 8kg Siemens washing machine broke down a couple months ago. I phone them to come fix, they said it is out of warranty so would(really Love) charge me (plenty). I called the Siemens call center, the lady confirmed to me the warranty is 2 years and my is only 12 and a half months old...I phoned the niyom back again and started shouting at them. They come can fix my washing and left with nothing. If you have a choice better not them.

  7. You only need 400K in your bank account at least 2 months prior your application.

The Marriage Visa as far as I know, you apply in BKK, you will only grant a few months visa.

Renewal can be done at regional immigration office the you will get the one year visa.

After getting the 1 year. You do not have to worry about the 400K but make sure you put it back to your account 2-3 months before the visa expired.

    Good Luck

  8. www.coaguchek.com

Coaguchek as mentioned above is the only finger prick test for PT/ INR that I know.

Have seen in BKK but not sure in CM.

you have seen it for sale ?

may I ask where that was ? and how much was the retail price ? thanks

Actually I know they have it at the hospital, not for sale.

The price from the rep as above, tax excluded.

Not sure how much for retail price.

Please PM me if you need more details.

  9. Tried uncle willy once a while ago.

My friends were happy with spaghetti but my lasagna was not as expected.

    They are very friendly though.

BTW, Do you know where to buy the best meatball in town??

There is a little stall near by the round about between sisaket witthayalai school and polytechnic vocational school.

(on the left hand side if you head to SSK hospital from the round about)

The owner is an old thai man,Lung Silp, who started the shop about 10-15 years ago.

He recently became a rich man and retired himself at home(I guess).

If you go there you will find his nephew and niece busy frying and cooking. and a big qeue of customers.

The Best choice is the hotdog with spicy chilli sauce.

The cost is 2 B/each but heaven! It is the best one so far.

Oh make sure you grap those hotdogs as quick as possible , they normally does not stay on the tray longer than 30 seconds!

  10. Oh Sripat is on the 13 floor of the mentioned building.

You can catch the elevator up there, turn left to register as new pt,

follow their direction to the GI clinic, then see your doctor.

If you do not want to waste your time waiting, it is recommended to make an appointment before hand

and make sure they give you the qeue.

    Good luck.

  11. Final Jeopardy Answer...

CM Ram does have the test in the fourth floor clinic, but first floor was clueless about it. After a bit of pushing there was a lightbulb moment and we got connected. So, tomorrow Mom goes up to the fourth floor for her test, gets the result, and then goes back down to the first floor for her meeting with the cardio guy.

That's great for you and your mom.

However, here I have found the Roche Coagucheck

    Price 26000 Baht

    Strip 150 each

    rediculous price, isnt it?

  12. We had the 2009 flu vaccine at McCormick Hospital at 645bt/shot

I might be wrong but I think it is normal flu vaccine not the 2009 a H1N1

It has no protection to the current outbreak of the new strain.

BTW, there are a lot of kids at international school by Saraphi side got infected at the moment.

  13. If it is simple most likely to be intectios diseases, you can go to any doc any hospital.

If it is something more complicated, Tinnitus, Lost of balance, sudden hearing loss...make an appointment with ENT man.

They should have one at CMR in the day time.
