  2. China largest tourist destination? Yeah, right. I didn't find it very interesting and there were not many international tourists either.

The top 10 international tourism destinations in 2011 were:[3][4]

Youre're not retiring, you are changing lifestyles. I have made a similar move at comparable age and savings.
From what I've seen in Thaialand, I wouldn't invest a penny here. Very little money to be made, tremendous competitom from the million expats living here, huge levels of corruption, etc
. If you love Thailand so much and now have some financial freedom, I would recommend staying here a few months and see how you like it. Living here as an expat is a lot different than visiting on holiday for a couple of weeks every year. Very very different actually.

Sounds like you made some money and now have no idea what to do with yourself now. Believe me I empathize. I would suggest you will need quite a bit of time and reflection to figure out the next chapter of your life.

  5. It always seems to be the white man that gets scammed. Why would anyone give this creep 10,000 without checking his credentials and background ? As the Indians and Thai's always say....stupid rich white people. They cant understand where the stupid white man gets all his money from.

  6. If Farang wants to come to Thailand, they should contribute to the local economy too.

Next time, they bring their own van, to visit their own bars, and drink their own beers, and perhaps even import their own girls (from the Philippines).

Might want to reread the article before making blatently incorrect statements. The vans used are a local hire, they don't visit their own bars, nor do they bring beer from America to drink. Many might want to have girls from the Philippines, but after being in the gulf for 97 days, where would they get them?

    saipan? guam?

  7. Be careful of the guys hanging around the Xray machine at the entrance. They wear ties, carry a bundle of applications and look "official".

I thought they were from the embassy but realized they were agents when they asked me for 4000 B.

rush in when the doors open, grab a number, fill in the form and wait your turn.

I pay 1800 B and get the visa (single entry) on the same day at 3pm

    prices cud have changed recently
