  1. Bought my car 18 months ago from a Dealer in Pattaya....it is Bangkok registered and the dealer organised the transfer in blue book into my name no problem.

I have sold the car privately to an expat in Pattaya.

    Questions.

Can he transfer it to his name by going to the Transport place on the 36 ?

Is there a transfer paper I can just sign and give him the Blue Book ?

It has 1st class insurance....that I take it will just transfer to him ?

Just trying to make things go smooth.

    Thanks in advance...

  2. I have health insurance with a UK based company....I have coverage for Inpatient Services only....I have a $2000 co pay (excess)

Hurt my shoulder...went to the Hospital (Pattaya Bangkok) got a quaterzone injection and they said see what happens if OK no problem...was Ok for a few months then pain came back....went back and they said we think you need an MRI to check for damage but try another injection and if no good we need to investigate further.

No good a month latter so I advise my Insurance company of whats happening looks like there could be a problem...they send me the paperwork to make a claim....I go have an MRI...shoulder is in need of surgery...tendons off the bone etc....hospital gets pre approval for surgery and a week later I have the operation 2 nights in hospital. Insurance company paid for everything only from the time i was admitted til I was discharged.

I need to get the wound dressed when I get out for a few weeks and I need to get the stitches out.

I make a claim for..2 visits regarding the shoulder that I got injections.....a visit to the surgeon who organises an MRI....I have the MRI....I go back see see the surgeon another visit for results...also make claim for dressing of wouds and also to have the stiches removed.

ALL CLAIMS REJECTED AS CLASSED AS OUT PATIENT SERVICES...

The Hospital and Doctors did a great job and shoulder is getting better now...

I had a second look at my policy.....and yes they were right all outpayient services....silly me thought that being directly part of something that was approved as an inpatient service would encompass those as well.....wrong....beware.....

  3. My wife and I have retirement visas that expire in March. We are leaving to go back and live in Australia in May....3.5 years here has been great.

We want to do 2 trips one to Cambodia and the other the HCMC.

I take it we leave the country before it expires come back in get 30 days on a tourist visa...leave again come back get another 30 days and then go to Australia. This can be done after comming off a retirement VISA..?

    Thanks in anticipation.

  4. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks....it's great levels me out....a lot of people take it as s sleeping aid....take one with a couple of drinks it amplifies the effect.

You can get it over the counter with a prescription at reputable pharmacies....I get mine from a backstreet Pharmacy without a prescription...try 4 little paharmacies and one will sell it.

  5. I have an AC Ryan Playon HD...put a 2tb HD in it it's great...store all my music on it and play it through my stereo.

My music concerts and music videos are in it as well.....plays great HD on my TV.....has 2 USB ports so if I want to watch something I downloaded quick just copy to my USB and away....also have an external 2 TB hard drive with stuff I add to all the time......it's easy to use everything goes in folders from my PC....a mate got one in Australia for $150 ...I saw some a few weeks ago in Tuckom Pattaya....4500 bht (no hard drive).

The thing is easy to use.....idiot proof.

  6. OK....did some research on Sony Vegas Pro....looks impressive....seems it can do a lot more than satisfy my hobby needs that are basicaly editing video I get from Torrenting, the tutorials on Youtube are impressive.. some of the tutorials have been done with Vegas........V12 has been released but looks like it hasn't hit the discount sellers yet....Sony site $449.....that's more than I wanted to pay for a hobby....maybe go to Tuckom Pattaya and see if they have say V8 or latter there....Thanks for help.

  7. I have a lot of different files.....AVI MKV MP4 MPG VOB...etc.... music vidoes...video clips movies etc...most in 720 1080.also a lot of wallpapers pictures ....what I want to do is edit say a music video...keep the audio but cut out parts of the video and insert other clips, pictures text do some transitions etc in place....thus making my own unique music vidoes I can then string together.

Have played with Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 but I think I need something that can do more....I can do a lot with it but not all I want and the files end up too big....probably need something that can convert different file formats as well without losing quality...puting an MKV clip into AVI clip doesn't work.

I am reasonably computer literate and looking for recomendations on what package I would need to do what I want....something that doesn't need a 3 year Uni course to use it would be good....Tuckom Pattaya has a vast array but the language barrier makes it difficult to get across what I'm after....my desk top is basic so probably need an upgrade if needed but that's not an issue.

  8. Bangpakong...been several times...great course however after the game had a drink and the bill had 10% service charge added to it as did all in our group.

There is no mention of a service charge on the menu.

Anyhow I refused to pay it because acording to me and I maybe wrong here if it's not somewhere in writing or your told about it it's a ripoff.

It all ended up with what would have been the manager demanding I pay...stood firm and refused to pay at which stage she became angry threw her arms in the air and said "What I must have it on the menu ?"

Outcome was non of our group paid the charge.

Is it reasonable to argue the point ?

Would this be something that would be done to Falang only or would Thais get 10% added to their bill and just pay it ?

  9. Hi all,

Moving to the Darkside...Nernplubwan...Suwattana Gardens, I see there is TMN there cableTV/internet. Would appreciate any comments on the service or what others are using there that in particular have no problems downloading torrents. We need cable TV as well so any opinions and providers would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  10. Hi

I live in Kanchanaburi, and have played most of the courses here, my personal favorite is Nichigo.

Milford river Kwai usually have some good deals and is probably the least expensive to play, be warned however it is very hilly, one particular hole is like walking up a cliff face... not for the unfit.

One you haven't mentioned is at Srinakarin dam it is on the area of the dam itself , a good challenging course and very picturesque.

not sure about accomodation there but I know they have at Milford.

Hope the above helps and have a great day wherever you decide.

Thanks for the feedback.....appreciate the local knowlege..going up next week for a couple of nights to check things out.....we will be there for a week over songkran so looking at 5 games...will probably do nichigo and evergreen again with some not played before....Sinakarin....googled it sounds interesting will have a look...I'm thinking we will stay in Kanchanaburi for the week now and travel out...can you tell me anything about Green World and Barrington....???

  11. Planing the anual get away from Pattaya during Songkran thing. Played the usual ones before Evergreen Hills, Blue Saphire, Nichigo etc...all nice but was interested in information on the outer Kanchanaburi courses namely...Barrington, River Kwai (Milford) and Green World....or any others I have missed.

Maybe some accomodation recomendations in that area as well.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. Suggest you stay in Pattaya as the area offers excellent courses within about 60 mins drive from the strip. Not to be missed are Thai Country Club, Amata Spring, Siam Country, St Andrews and Laem Chabang GC.

And if you want something out of the ordinary you can play both courses (highland & valley) at Wangjuntr Park. Their club house is basic but the courses are very challenging. :)

Agree on Wanjuntr....something different...the highland course may not be as well manicured as say red Mountain in Phuket but a great experience....I found Phuket too expensive for golf.

  13. It differs from course to course, but the caddie usually gets 55-65% of the caddie fee. They might not get a flight, meaning they wait for hours for free. They can usually get back in line after a completed round, I doubt it pays off very often though. I know caddies who regularly makes 30k/month, but the norm is probably more in the region of 10k, depending on the tips. The rainy season is pretty much crap from their perspective. Courses with night golf tend to have separate day- and night caddies

So compared to the minimum wage 300bht as I understand it ....say 60% of the 300 = 180 and a 250 bht tip.....about 430bht...seems about right considering some days they wait arround and get nothing.....

  14. Caddie fee has gone up to 300bht at most courses in Pattaya now. A few questions...how much of the 300 does the caddie get ? Do they get a salary and what we pay as a caddie fee go towards that...??? How does it all work...caddie comes to work waits arround half the day ... doesn't get a job...goes home empty handed ???....do they have a roster...get a job then go to the end of the que ???

Is being a caddie a reasonably well paid job....get X from the caddie fee and then picks up a tip of somewhere on average between say 200-400 bht...???

Is a caddie tip a tip for good service or an unwritten requirement ?

If so what would be then the tip for a caddie ....and we have all had them....on the phone...lags behind....sullen faced... ...the type that would barely rate as a bag carrier ?

The post is not about being a cheap Charlie but what is a fair days pay for a caddie ????

I tip between 200-300 bht because that's what others I play with do.....the shocker of a caddie still gets 200 bht .....

    Thanks in advance....

  15. Thanks for that guys.....someone else told me they played a while ago and likened it to Rayong CC on a good day......

The layout sounds interesting...maybe a bit like the Valley course at Wanjuntre but obviously not as well kept....maybe do Soi Dao instead this time and check it out early next year....just trying to find some interesting courses for a night stay away within say 3 hours of Pattaya.

  16. Went to Kabinburi a few weeks ago from Pattaya and played Kabinburi Sports club...good course did the package with Kantary Hotel very nice.

We want to go agian and maybe try Hillside...as I understand it the course was a bit ordinary but would appreciate any information layout...current condition etc...I see they do a very low cost package if you stay there.

    Thanks in advance

  17. My wife and I both have retirement visas expiring next month so just checking paperwork.

My wife follows me as she is under 50.

Copies of Marraige certificate...They accepted copies last time but we took the original.

    Copies of lease....

Bank letter and copy for wife...

    Copies of relevent pasport pages..

    The money...

    Have I missed anything ???

The Jomtien Immigration are pretty good but want to do it right.

    Thanks in advance

  18. Organising a group from Pattaya to get away to Kanchanaburi in April... 3-4 rounds....4 nights....some of the guys are taking partners.

    Need help on the following.

    Driving time..??

    Accomodation recomendations 900 - 1500 BHT a night.

Golf course recomendations...say within 50km of town.

Recomendations on restaurants....Farang and Thai food.
