The Thai one is much cheaper and offers good coverage , however how is your BMI?

i was about to change from international to Thai policy, almost half the price , applied and they cane back with 25% loading because of my BMI and I am not fat, just not a skinny guy, been working out since I was 16 years old, so in the end price difference was only 9000 baht per year , hardly worth it.

thai policy is actually good, also group not individual , can have deductible, unlike international policy.

My BMI should be fine, if anything I'm a bit under weight currently. I'm just looking for an individual policy and for the most basic package. From reading this thread I'm still undure what's the downside to getting the Thailand one over the international one? But if the price is similar it sounds like the International package is a better choice overall

  2. Hi, I've just read through this thread as I was looking to get health insurance from April. As a 36 year old British national living in Bangkok should I still get the Spril International package over the myHEALTH Thailand package? I'm struggling to find details on why one is better than the other

Was that 5 year DL expired long ago ?

If yes, it means you are counted as a fresh man and perhaps you will receive a 5 year DL Next time.

My 5 year driving license expired in December 2017 which I got when I had an education visa. I renewed it in May this year. They told me at the office that I was only allowed a 2 year temporary license now and I tried my best to talk them round but unfortunately they wouldn't budge.

Is it possibly to temporarily get another visa or extension of stay to then try renew my license again for a 5 year one? Or is there any Driving LTO office where they might be slightly more lenient?

  4. Does anyone know if there's any steps at all to turn a 2 year temporary license into a 5 year one with a Thai Elite visa? I used to have a full 5 year license and recently renewed it but only got a 2 year temp license, which I can no longer use back in the UK. I tried applying for a UK license but was told I need to be in the country more than 185 days in the country the year I apply.

    Thanks for any help!

  5. Hi, I recently bought a pcx from my friend and I need to get the green book transferred into my name. I have all the correct forms form him and a copy of his wife's ID in which the bikes name is in. I've really no idea what to do or where to take it but I was told I could take it to a bike shop/agent and they can do it for me for a fee? Does anyone know somewhere I can take it in Bangkok?

    Thanks!

  6. Hi, I'm contemplating buying a mobile phone from Aliexpress and shipping to Bangkok - Has anyone done this recently and know if I'd have to pay customs fees? The phone costs $280 USD and is free postage and packaging.

    Thanks!

Edit: Sorry i just realised i posted this in the wrong subforum. Is there a way to move it to mobile devices or the correct forum

  7. I'm going to NYC, Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Tallahsee, FL, Destin, FL, Mobile, AL, Biloxi, MS and New Orleans. Does anyone have any experience getting a visa in these places where I might be able to get in and out in the same day?

I'm flying in and out of New York so I'm thinking this will be my best option, unless one of those other places will be quicker and easier while I'm there?

  8. Hi, I'm looking to continue studying Thai again after a couple of years break. I've had 4 years worth of Thai language courses already so I would need something that is more towards intermediate/advanced level, and a part time course including an education visa.

Does anyone know of a decent school that offers something like this in Bangkok (I live near the Ekamai BTS if that helps to narrow something down)? I've never studied in BKK before as I lived in Chiangmai when first learning Thai, so I've no real idea of the best language schools here.

    Thanks for your help!

  9. Hi, I know there's a lot of tailors around that will possibly do this, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that specializes in shirt and/or polo shirt size alterations? I've found a great spot for Chinos/jeans called 'The Machine' in Siam Square (good tip if anyone needs some jeans hemmed) but they won't do shirts as well. Any ideas? These are just shirts I've been getting from Uniqlo that are slightly too big

    Thanks for any help!

  10. Hi, thought I'd ask in here as it's related. My first 2 month visa of a triple entry runs out on on the 28th so I need to either get the 30 day extension or do a visa run. Which one is going to be quicker to do from BKK. I've never been to immigration here in BKK before, only CM. Is it much hassle or are you in and straight out? Do I have to make an appointment or can I just turn up early and get it done? If their's a link to a thread explaining all of this that would be great, thanks!

  11. Hey guys, I'm in BKK for a week or two and need a decent daily coffee place to go to. Does anyone have any suggestions of coffee shops in the Thonglor/Ekkamai area? Would be cool to find a place that roasts there own beans and had a wide selection of coffee

  12. I've never seen the police helmet check points after 3.30pm in the 4+ years I've been here.

I policeman pulled me over at around 8pm the other night though at the Canal Road/Huey Kaew intersection for not wearing a helmet (Stupid, I know). We had a long chat in Thai about him wanting to learn English, English Soccer teams and nightlife in Chiang Mai which concluded him in asking for a 200 baht fine so he can go for a drink that night blink.png . I just paid him so I could get off to meet my friends, guess his tactic was to bore you into paying a back hander fine

    First time that's ever happened!
