  1. As far as I can see all movie channels are off until the 21st of October . If you check your channel TV Guide then go forward there are no movies listed until the 21st of Oct at 00:00 then all movie channels are up and running again . At the moment all you have is News , Sports and Discovery channels the only other thing I have noticed is that there is the odd cut on the BBC news when any local  news reports come up .

  2. Thanks for the feed back guys , Both passports that I hold are British but one was issued in Singapore and the other Hongkong , Due to my occupation its a requirement to hold 2 passports and a seamans book . So looks like I a trip to Bangkok and and a visit to the British Embassy .

As for my fixation with a " O-A " after spending over 2 months running all over the place getting all the paper work together I was not looking forward to doing it all over again .But I am all for paying the money if thats the best way to go .

  3. Hi Joe

We have spoken many times in the past , Regarding O-A visas you might remember all the fun and games I had at sadao border crossing .Any way back to the story so far " forget the second British passport for a minute .

My current Re- Entry Permit expirys on the 18th of January the passport that this is in expirys in March 2016 ,

About 85 days ago when I was in the Hat Yai immigration office I did ask them what was the best way to get a " New O-A visa and they told me to go with my new British passport to the main immigration office in Bangkok since I would save me from doing the London Paper chase .

However I have a feeling from seeing the feed back from the rest of the guys here that the London Paper chase is the only way to get a new O-A in my second passport .

  4. The O-A visa was issued in Feb 2014 and the re -entry permit was issued in Jan 2015 if the passport was not due to expiry I would try to renew but since it expirys in March 2016 its not possible as far as I know . But I do have a second passport all I know is I am not looking forward to the london paper chase .

  5. Sorry but the passport that the visa is in expirys March 2016 so as far as I know I need to get a new O-A , I do carry 2 passports so its a case of finding out were I can get a replacement from or like you say doing the london paper chase all over again but in 2017 I can just pay for a new re - entry permit .

  6. Hi Guys

Its that time of year again when I my current Re - Entry Permit needs replacing on my Multiple O-A Visa , The passport that this Visa is in is due to expiry in March 2016 so as far as I know I will need to get a new O/A visa .

I do have a second passport so my question is Where can I get a replacement O-A Visa from , I did ask in the Hat Yai immigration office and they tell me it can only be done out of Thailand ? on my last 90 day check in I asked the same thing and I was told it can be done in Bangkok has things changed in the past 85 days ?

Now if it can be done in Bangkok what documents do I need to take with me , " Note I do not have a Thai Bank account " or When I am back in the UK early next year do I do the paper chase all over again with the London Thai Embassy .

So to recap on requirements for London : Police Check cert , Bank Statements and Doctors Cert then take all certs to a local Public Notary officer or Solictor they then counter sign all documents . Then down to the Thai Embassy in London with your O-A application form with photos .

I bet nothing has changed from 2 years ago , As far as I know it was only The London Thai Embassy that deals with the issue of O-A visa and they only do a counter service you cannot do it via recorded mail or DHL .

So has there been any changes in the requirements for the O/A visa I wonder . The total cost of doing the London Paper chase was about £450 so would it be cheaper if I hired a local Thai company to do all the leg work and get the a new O-A .

This would be a well known Thai company that deals with visas as the last thing I want is to arrive in Bangkok and be told my visa is not valid . Oh yes I am 63 years old and before the change a few years back I would use a " O " class but the age for

    " O " went up to 65 .

    Many Thanks

  7. Well down here in Songkhla in the south of Thailand all Alcohol has been removed for sale from all Shops , Restaurants and Bars , Last night I went into 7/11 and everything was removed for how long I dont know but Songran without Alcohol its going to be a very slow day .

I also noticed while on train a few weeks ago going from Bangkok to Hat Yai that you can no longer buy Alcohol due to killing on the train a few months ago , Business is bad all over let alone putting in place all these bans as we all know people will just but there booz in coffee mugs .

So I wonder when they will start selling beer in the south again because Songran in Songkhla is only one day but in the north its about a week .

  8. Sorry this is not a issue with the expiry date of passport this was a issue of refused entry into Thailand because I was stamped out less than one hour ago and it would seem to cannot stamp out , Stamp into + out of Malaysia then stamp back into Thailand .

Yes I do have more than one passport but like I said its clear from what Joe was saying you now have to place 500 Baht in passport other wise you end up going from counter to counter until someone stamps you back again or it means staying in Sadao over night . But all of this is nothing compared with the paper chase for a new OA , I will be applying for a new O/A next year but to do it every year is not a option .

  9. Thanks Joe but I have never had any problems like this before I thought the problem might had been to extend the O/A but once at Hat Yai I was in and out in 10 minutes .

Understood on the 500 Baht in the passport , This is the type of thing we do in Africa but this is the first time I have heard it about at Sadao , But I went to 4 desks after going back to the office as many times other wise it means I will have to get a cheap flight to KL or a over night stay in Sadao. Anyway all is well now and I have my new Mult Re-Entrying Permit 19/01/2016 .

  10. Current visa Held O/A issued at London 25th Feb 2014

Hi Joe and all the others reading this , Well I got down to Sadao and got stamped out of Thailand down the Hill stamped in and out of Malaysia then back up the hill again into Thailand but this is were the problem started .

When I went to get stamped back into Thailand I was told " You Cannot re enter Thailand because I only stayed 1 day in Malaysia " and they told me to go the the office , The office told me to go back to a different counter , I did this 4 times until they they sent me to see some supervisor and then I was able to re enter Thailand .But its clear they do not like you getting stamped out only to get re stamped back in again in less than one hour .

So for other farang going to Sadao doing a Visa run its no longer a straight forward job and turned out a total nightmare getting stamped back in . I dont know if this is just Sadao or are all land base boarder crossing doing this .I know they were cutting down on normal tourist visas but I did not know

As far as Application for Re-Entrying Permit into Thailand using a TM8 " No Body Down at Sadao knows any thing about this ? Thinking all was lost I thought of stopping into the Hat Yai immigration office the one next to the main police station next to the railway , They knew straight away what a TM8 was and what the requirements were to gain a 12 month multiple Re - Entrying permit and within a short time the stamp was in my passport total cost 3800 Baht .

So I dont have to do the paper chase for a new O/A until 2016 .I hope this helps some other person as its a straight forward job but if you can no longer get stamped out then stamped back in within a hour that means over night stays at Sadao .

  11. Not sure if I can add to this old Topic but I am heading down to the Sadao tomorrow to extend my entry into Thailand so thought I would check to see if there had been any changes to the requirements since I fly back to the UK on 23rd and do not want to do the O/A paper chase all over again .

As far as I know I need to fill out the TM8 with attached Photo , Copy of Passport photo page , Copy of current O/A Visa , Entry / Permit to Stay Stamp and TM6 Departure card + 3800 Baht for Multiple Entry .

I am sure the requirements have not changed but its a long way to drive down there only to be told that I am missing some thing .Once I have got stamped back into Thailand with tomorrows date I will get a local copy shop to copy the stamp in passport and TM6 Departure Card then go into the main immigration office in Sadao the one next to passport control .

    Many thanks

  12. Ok Joe I did not know they had changed from Hong Kong to Bangkok I wonder why ?, Before HK I used to go down to Singapore and get a replacement there , I do have 2 British Passports so there is no problem on that side of things .

Before I drive down to sadao I will have with me all the copys with me and the TM6 , Its only about 45 minutes drive there , So its a standard visa run job , Come back up the hill passport control fill out the new TM6 get stamped back in then walk 10 feet to the immigration office then I hope get the new extension

So I hope all goes well ! But like I said I wont be going down there until late january or very eary february about the 5th . My current OA was issued on 25th Feb 2014 so its good until the 24th 2015 so its well in date .

  13. Sorry but after having done the paper chase for a OA visa this year I can only tell you from first hand experience or if you go to the Thai Embassy web site it states :

Note: Documents as stated in 4 - 8 must be certified by Notary Public or from the competent authority concerned of the country of application.

In my case the person stamped and signed all documents and took him just a few minutes .Dont forget you must apply in person and any detail not correct means a return trip , Which for me is £57 on the train .

As for cost of a stamp they asked for a Notary Public and thats what they got ! As for Competent authority concerned of the country of application this to me sounds very vague .

I think at the end of the day it would be far better if they accepted applications by post .

  14. Thanks Ezzra I am sure I should be able to pick some replace 685 cartridges as the printer is current but people dont like to stock items they tend to order things in like Advice , But I did try ordering on the HP web site and was told all 4 were out of stock but in this heat the ink does not last long and have been thinking of putting the cartridges in the fridge .

But its a real pain I bought a full set and a large extra black cartridge but unable to use them because these items are Zoned and the only way to get them to work is to contacted HP and they reset your printer to work on out of Zone cartridges .Please note these are genuine HP cartridges bought from HP in England .I did try changing over the chips but its the same so I will see what Advice comes up with and then try Tescos .

    Thanks again .

  15. Thanks Joe for confirming the bank statement side of things , As for making copys of all the required documents I have my own scanner + Printer so thats no problem . Ok on the space required in my passport yes that should ok but as I do have space just ! But the passport its self is due to expiry in March 2016 so it will mean the paper chase all over again for a new OA in 2016 but who knows the requirements may have changed by then .As for all documents being counter signed by a Public Notary or if you like Notary Public! The best deal I got on that was about £120 cash in hand but I went through the list and some were charging over £400 just to counter sign your documents . Oh yes I do have 2 British passports so that side of things is coved but getting a new passport from Hong Kong takes only a few a few weeks .

    Thanks again

  16. Sorry Paz please read my original Question :-

My OA visa which is a multiple entrie is due in Feb 2015 Since I will be heading back to to UK for 2 months and wont be back before April 5th I was thinking of extending it in Hat Yai I understand this can done with supplying them with Bank Details :-

This is from the Thai web site which to me is a bit vague ?

Once staying in the Kingdom completed 1 year and wishing to extend of stay, this can also be made by submitting the application at the Immigration Bureau, by showing documents of current income the amount equivalent to Thai currency at least 800,000 Baht or monthly income 65,000 Baht. (approximately GBP 14,000.00/annum)

Now my question is " Does this bank account need to be in Thailand " ? or will any bank statement do ?

When I first was issued my OA I just shown them my bank statement from the UK however I have been told to extend your visa this 800,000 needs to be in a Thai Bank account and they will not accept Non Thai banks statement .

I am fully aware that the OA can give you about 2 years however I am in and out of Thailand every few months so the plan was to before I go back to the UK in Late January and return in April I was going to the immigration office in Hat Yai or Bangkok and extend the OA .

If I cannot extend then I think it means running the gauntlet and providing all the information all over again with the total cost of over £450 after all the running around for certs , 2 train fares to london and stamps from a Public Notary .

Yes I am fully aware of the 90 day rule and I did report to Hat Yai immigration office as I have done every 90 days .

    Thanks again .

  17. Hi Paz

Lets put this to bed , Please ask Ubonjoe as its very clear from what he has said I do not have do a paper chase in the UK next year for a OA visa .

I will go down to Sadao and go to the immigration office there and get the multiple re-entry permit. every time I enter the country I will get a permitted to stay stamp until January 2016.

Thanks again for all your feed back .

    .

  18. Hi Paz

Well my main problem was I have the money but dont want to open a Thai Bank account plus I do not want to have the long paper chase that I had for the OA visa , The visa its self is no problem but you need a police cert , Doctors Cert , Bank Statement then when you had all this you had to get it all stamped by a Public Notary .Plus to apply for the OA you had to apply in person since they dont do the service by mail and since it takes 2 days it means 2 trips to london .This whole deal was £450 .

So from what Joe was saying go down to Sadao for a visa run then go into immigration office fill out the TM8 and take with you Copies of your passport photo page, visa, entry/permit to stay stamp and TM6 departure card pay them 3800 Baht and your good to go .

Then when I go back to the UK I dont have to chase all over the place getting certs for a new OA visa .

  19. Thanks very much taking the time as its a nightmare doing the paper chase for a replacement OA , I am only in the UK for about 2 and a half months and most of that time I spent chasing people for certs and letters so this will put it off for a year so 3800 baht is a small amount to pay for the extra year , What size of stamp do they put in your passport or is it stamped over the original OA permit .
