Haemoglobin shot cost over 3000 baht. Total cost over 5000

    Sound about right?

Yeah, that's about right. My insurance paid 90% of the cost, but it was around 1500 baht all in PER SHOT in Bangkok Hospital in Chiang Mai. And I didn't need haemoglobin.

  2. I'll address some of the replies here.

Many posters seem to think that this is a regular soi dog, which I assure you is not the case. I never had a problem with any dog in my life, this is the first one. I tried feeding it, it wouldn't eat - I tried feeding it a couple of times, along with 3 other soi dogs in the same mooban when I moved in - as instructed by the lady feeding them. This one kept barking and didn't eat, while others did.

Secondly, my wife talked on phone to the lady in question (my wife is away right now) and she seemed apologetic, but wouldn't admit it's her dog. Since this very dog:

    1) Killed her cat before, and bit another one
    2) Occasionally attacks her own dog on walks

She recommends to "be careful" and carry a stick, and beat it if it comes closes. She says, that's what she does. The lady is feeding it for merit, along with other dogs. She feels bad for them. Let that sink in - she feeds it and even pets this dog on a daily basis, but it still attacks her own dogs.

I walked my other dog today, carrying a stick, and the dog didn't bark or move on the way there, and it hid behind a parked car on the way back. Good enough for now. I also doubt that the law will be on the side of the dog that viciously attacked and injured my dog, if I try to defend it next time.

Hopefully there won't be any updates to this story, thanks for helpful replies.

  3. Yes, that's not gonna work anyway. The dog is scared of me, I ran after it today after the ordeal because I was furious - as soon as I put my dogs in the house. It ran away from me all the way outside of the mooban, but my guess is it will be in the same spot tomorrow. I'll talk to the lady that feeds it and then call local Tessabahn tomorrow. Thanks everyone for replies.

  4. Thank you for suggestions so far, I tried the food one when we first moved in and it didn't work - he didn't want to eat it and kept barking. But maybe I gave up too fast on that one. I also like the Tessabahn suggestion!

As for walking somewhere else, the main street doesn't have a sidewalk (like 90% of streets in Chiang Mai) and one of the reasons I moved to this mooban is to be able to walk my dogs inside the mooban. There weren't any dogs outside two times I visited before moving in.

As far as bamboo stick, I guess that could work if I walk my dogs one by one. But that still means I have to fight that dog every time I go out, but maybe he'll think twice.

  5. Did you two even read what I wrote? I already tried charging it and kicking it, it doesn't work - it backs off, but then starts the same thing then next day. I don't want to have to do that every time I need to pass this dog, it's not a permanent solution. I am not afraid of the dog biting me at all, it's attacking MY DOGS which are 5x smaller than him.

I also cannot go around smashing it in the head with a weapon and have the whole mooban hate me. It's just unbelievable that there isn't a service available to take care of aggressive dogs? There are MANY Thai's that have problems with soi dogs, they're just not posting on Thaivisa but some place else.

  6. I recently moved house to a moo ban and there are 4 dogs that "live" in the mooban, but only one of them is problematic, as 3 others are here only during the night. The problematic one stays in one area all the time and he barks at people and dogs, but he is particularly aggressive when I walk my 2 small-breed dogs around the mooban. He's been barking and charging viciously almost every time I take them for a walk, but I always charge back and he backs off (albeit still following and barking). Today I had one of my dogs on leashes, one on back and one in front, and he just charged again out of nowhere and attacked my small dog that never bit anything in its life (5 years old). My dog was just standing there when he was attacked, unprovoked.

This cost me 2,700 THB so far and will cost more, as my dog has 2 deep puncture wounds that need cleaning & dressing change for 4-5 days in the vet office.

The attacking dog is fed by a neighbor on the street, who will naturally deny it's her dog.

I refuse to be terrorized by this dog every time I go for a walk with my dogs inside the mooban. Is there any service that would take care of aggressive dogs? If not, what are my options here?

  7. You can only get the official currency of a country you're staying in from ATM, which means Thai baht in Thailand. It doesn't matter if your account is in USD, EURO or something else, you can only get Thai baht in Thailand, Euro from EU countries etc....

Also, this question would be better suited for Payoneer forum. As far as I know you can only have one Payoneer card.

Forget the personal reviews here the only logical assessment of an airline should be from airlineratings with a dot com.

And the only logical consideration should be safety full stop. Would you put service before safety,,, I don't think so.

Unfortunately this airline has only 2 stars for safety. Good luck with and have a safe journey.

The actual safety rating for VietJet on the website you mentioned is 6 out of 7, which is pretty good. The 2 star is a product rating, nothing to do with safety - https://www.airlineratings.com/ratings/vietjet-air/

I flew with them earlier this year BKK-CM and everything went fine.

  9. Now it's much clearer that the price is at least 8k baht. Every recreational sport I've trained in my life was at most 6 hours per week, e.i. 3x two hour training per week. I also trained kick-box and you do learn a lot after couple of months, without need to exhaust yourself for 6 hours / day smile.png

  10. As someone already predicted, it will be anywhere from 10k-200k baht.

I am coming to CM in September and I plan to live on something just above 30k baht. However, I am young and single guy, so I guess that could lower the need for more money. The thing is, I live my life the way I want here and still manage to save around 30% of my income. I just compared prices in CM to my city and CM is at least 20% cheaper.

On the other hand, it all depends on the lifestyle and personal preferences. For starters, I don't need a car - in fact, I don't WANT a car. I had one for a couple of years and it's just an expense I could live without, especially in small cities like CM or here where I live. I might consider renting a motorcycle in CM, but I still hope that won't be necessary as I very much like to walk.

In fact, my living standard will most likely IMPROVE once I come to CM and all that on 30k pm.

So in general, it seems that it all depends on where you come from. If you were earning like 200k baht pm in your home country and are used to driving fancy cars, playing golf on a regular basis and eating at high end restaurants, then you will definitely want to do it in CM as well. For me, all those things are just not necessary for me to be truly happy. Each to its own!

  11. yes you can book a flight with 5 months between but ideally you will need a double tourist visa in your PassPort or else the airline may not let you check in.

if the double tourist visa only has 3 months validity thats fine for a 5 month stay if used correctly.

where are you thinking of getting the visa from

Sorry for the late answer - In order to make sure I planned everything right before purchasing an airline ticket , I decided to review this thread again. I will be getting my visa from a neighboring country(s) - which would be Croatia or Hungary. That's what I did the last time and everything went all right. Sadly, Thai consulate doesn't exist in my country.

  12. I took this picture 2 years ago in Koh Lanta, might be useful :D

    thai-toilet.jpg

    From what I remember:

go to toilet like the locals do.

it's not dirty or disgusting, but actually

very clean. Just get used to it

    1. Cant remember

    2. Do what you came for in the first place

    3. take the bowl with your right hand and pour it down your lower back

    4. pour the water down your lower back, it will find it's way down

    5. use three fingers of your left hand with water to wash away anything left

    6. flush the toilet and leave it as you would like to find it

    7. wash your hands
