Why are you so negative? They could be coming from two different countries. ????

It's a joke anyway. At least for Pattaya area as i recently after March had to renew my retirement visa & did it the legit way which is quite an effort & almost a day event by the time you get the bank document than wait the hours at Jomtien. Not to mention now need to front to Jomtien again in June to show i still have the money in my bank whilst i have friends who spend an extra 10k with business as usual. Money goes in & out of their account than collect their passport a few days later from the agent with no need to front Jomtien a few months later to prove the money again .How The F does that work out without starting with a capital C . I;m thinking next year i might save all the headache & just do it the easy way myself.
By the way i would be interested to know if i were out of the country & couldn't get to Jomtien on the date in June to show them my 800k plus is still in the bank what would happen
Did they ask you to go show your balance on a certain date? Will it take as long as an extension to process? Will you need another letter from the bank? As for today, nobody has been able to explain to me how they will implement the new rules regarding the 800k, not even CM immigration.

The idiot doing the u-turn should get the stig wannabe a beer definitely
Not harsh enough, he should be the Nan Stig's butler for a month serving him cold beers.????????

I would wait and see, it will not be easy to implement, some officials have already complained. It also may scare off new applicants, not because they don't have money, but because of the constant hassle. The always changing conditions also don't create much confidence for retirees who want to buy property and settle down.
Looks to me the officials high up don't understand their own rules, the 800k are supposed to be the money to use during the year. Will they ask those who have a monthly pension, not to use any money the first 3 months and only half of their pension the rest of the year?
It shouldn't be too difficult to get the agents that fake the deposits and the officials who stamp the dodgy visas, they have been advertising in the open for many years. When I was 10 we used to play detectives, I would have solved the case in less than a week. ????

let's hope it doesn't replace the 1 year one, or else time to sell everything and go somewhere else.

Current situation is because the General wants to rewrite it, nothing to do with 2007 Constitution being bad. We are in the current situation due to corrupt leaders / politicians. Actually if politicians were to strictly abide by the 97 or 07 constitution - the country will in good condition.
The current government is giving themselves a more firm grip on what goes on in politics in future hence the revision. That is the main reason why both the PTP and DEM do not favor the 2016 Constitution.
You are correct open dialogue and genuine reconciliation would help, its a concept very hard for politicians to accept....
For those who are interested in reading a translated version
LOL the generals are as corrupt as anybody else in Thailand, the constitution has never been the problem it's people cheating and not following the law and taking shortcuts like mob rule , vote buying and coups.

I would say 2007 Constitution changed for the better on most parts of it. Care to explain why it created conflict and why you guys thought was worse than 1997 version?
The current situation proves id didn't solve much, maybe a real open dialogue and genuine reconciliation would help address the country's problems, but probably wishful thinking, Thais still have a war mindset in many aspects, which is a big hindrance in accepting the opponent's opinions.

The turnout and rates of approval in percentage related to registered voters are very similar to the outcome in the 2007 constitution referendum. Let's start season 2 of not having solved anything?...we will see.

Good, now they see they will land in prison if they drink and drive.... unless you have enough money and come from a "good" hiso family.
I bet most of them got drunk as soon as they were out, to forget what they saw.

Political protests from these nutjobs are allowed while academics get summoned for expressing their opinion. Double standards for sure are the best path to reconciliation. What a joke this illegal government is!

Limiting opening hours of shops not a good idea, maybe a mathematician or a ten year old child could explain that to the government.
