Maybe BigC can enlighten us all and let us know what he has done for this island? Having professional people like Chris (The guy mentioned in the paper) on this island is something positive if you ask me.
If you don't like the paper, don't buy it. It's pretty simple really...

Yep i used the one on main road opposit Bandon Hospital and Bangkok Restaurant / Irish Times earlier this year.
Were you happy with their work? I need to get mine done.

Pib,
Thanks for the advice. I was going to go with the 2 port LNB to feed both of my boxes, but will go with the set up you described, one port lnb to a splitter box.
Can't wait to get this setup, rain-fade sucks, especially during the last 10 minutes of a football game when both teams are drawing and there could be a winning goal at any time... : )
Cheers,
Matt.

Sorry, should have had a search before posting. I might go for one of these and couple if with my Megasat LNB
-
I actually have this LNB installed on my current dish:
http://www.satellitetvthailand.net/product_info.php?products_id=86
However, after reading a few posts on the satellite forums it made sense that investing in a larger dish was a better option that the LNB upgrade. Is it possible to buy larger solid Ku dish in Thailand?

Guys,
Quick question. If I grabbed a 6 foot C-Band dish and installed this LNB:
http://9sats.com/product/product.detail.php?&cat=54&id=1308
Would this set up then work OK with Truevisions after the dish has been aligned properly?
Cheers in advance,
Matt.

Renting a jeep/truck here is just as dodgy as renting bikes.
I've had many friends over the years rent jeeps in very poor condition with minimal servicing. A lot of them shouldn't even be on the roads...
Many also not taxed or insured. I wouldn't not like to take a chance on the roads here with no insurance or tax...
I've also had friends who have taken back a jeep with a dent that was there when they rented it and guess what? Yes, the owner pulls some story about it being a fresh dent and then starts the whole intimidation process to get extra money.
Take a chance with the locals? No thanks. Go with a proper company like Budget or Avis.

Personally I only rent from a reputable company like Avis or Budget. There are too many horror stories out there...

Sorry to burst your bubble, same tyres plus bits & pieces cost me around 18K.Lady always over charges , especially when you are a foreigner. Had a topic about it once before.
I went round the entire island to all the shops, including the place opposite Tesco you mentioned in an older thread.
Good quality make 265x70x16 tyres, i.e. Bridgestone, Mitchelin, etc were all around 6,500 a corner.
I had my girlfriend call Autoboy in Suratthani and was quoted the same price.
I also I compared the prices with the online places like cockpit, etc. 6,500-7,500 for quality tyres in that size.
They must have really liked you to give you the exact same tyres for 18k Rooo!
My looks, they liked my looks.Did you get any trade in on your old tyres?
I never thought to ask... No doubt there's some guy cutting new treads in to them right now with a pen knife!

Very pleased with the service and prices there.
4 x Michelin Latitude Cross 265x70x16 Tyres
Fitted & Balanced
4-Wheel Laser Alignment
27,000 Baht.
They did the laser alignment, took it out for a test drive. Came back, hooked the gear up, checked it again and made a couple of adjustments to the toe and caster. Got everything spot-on.
Very professional service.

I don't think anywhere on Samui can do it. You could try Steve at The Hut (Ghost rd) he may know of somewhere to sent it
Hey Man. Is that Steve the guy that does spray jobs? If so, have heard lots of praise for his work.

Can anyone help?
I'm currently restoring a 1998 Honda Hornet.
I've pulled the bike apart and would love to get the frame & swing-arm powder coated. Is there anywhere that does powder coating?
Thanks in advance,
Matt.

Anyone know where you can pick one up on Samui?
Do the local satellite shops sell these boxes? I heard they were available from BigC?
Matt.
-
Good news is Starbucks next to BigC is official open at 8am, but open at 7.30am. :D:D:D
-
We tried the one in Chaweng next to McDonalds the other day.
Thanks for the info, we'll get ourselves to the Starbucks next to BigC early doors tomorrow.
Do you know if they do coffee intravenously?
Matt.
-
Does anyone know where you can get a decent cup of coffee first thing in the morning around 7.30/8.00am in or around the Chaweng area?
We have some wireless installs on at the moment and we're doing them as early as possible to avoid working in the mid-day sun.
Obviously we need our injection of coffee to get us going. Just wondered if anyone could recommend a place?
We were disappointed to find Starbucks and Wawee (sp?) Coffee closed at 8am the other day.
Matt.

@H2oDunc
You're missing the point here entirely.
People are disgusted about the fact the dogs were given rat poison as a means to an end. I'm sure you will agree that bleeding to death internally in agonising pain is a terrible way to die.
Are you ignorant to the fact that animals feel pain? I also lived on a farm and saw animals put down (Horses shot, etc.) but that was a quick death, not a long drawn out one like poisoning.
In reference to your comments regarding the cat thrown in the bin. Are you also ignorant to the fact animals feel fear as well?
How would you feel if a giant hand came out of the sky and threw you down a dark well, then left you there for 9 hours? I bet you'd be crying like a baby.
Again, you're not reading posts correctly, you're skipping and reading the parts you want to see. Just to make it easier for you:
Original Post:
"Aug 19, Thursday
After the spate of recent dog attacks we called an emergency meeting to form an action plan.
The result of the meeting was a plan to put the dogs to sleep with some pills and then transport them to the local dog/cat rescue center.
We contacted our neighbour Mr. Dam to ask for permission for giving sleeping pill and he consented that it was a reasonable course of action given recent events."
My Comments:
"They should have gone to one of the local vets and got hold of some proper sedatives like Acepromazin, Atravet or even Ketamine to sedate the dogs.
They probably gave the dogs diazepam, that wouldn't work on them."
The plan didn't work because they didn't give the dogs the proper sedatives.
I actually have two dogs myself and they have both been neutered. The obvious solution here on Samui would be to take them off the streets and neuter them one by one.
Matt.

H2oDunc - I suggest you read more carefully, "The result of the meeting was a plan to put the dogs to sleep with some pills and then transport them to the local dog/cat rescue center.."
-
The first plan of action they decided to take would probably have been the best one:

Rat poison causes as agonising death. It stops the blood clotting so the animal bleeds to death internally.

Well done on posting this Mick. I received the e-mail two days ago and promptly sent a response to the above hotel.
Poisoning dogs with rat poison is an evil deed, it's a horrible death.
In my opinion the person responsible should be fed rat poison to see how they like it. We could all gather in a crowd and watch them foam at the mouth whilst they bled to death internally.
Sickened and disgusted,
Matt.
