Thinking of forming a company in Thailand and would really appreciate if anyone can recommend agents, companies that can help and assist with this.
Me and my husband are both British citizens and the business will be E Commerce.
Are there any companies that can help to form the company either in Chiang Mai or Bangkok???
Can anyone recommend both lawyers and accountants that can help and give advise???

Does anyone know if Dukes or Holiday Inn is worth going to on Christmas Day.?
Any idea on prices??

You cannot form a company in Thailand with both directors as non Thai nationals. You must have a minimum of 3 directors and Thai nationals must own 51% of the shares.Owning a company here involves some paperwork, monthly accounts and annual audited accounts. I recommend Kuhn Theera 0811644771, he is in Chiang Mai but if you want nominee Thai directors you are probably better dealing with a Bangkok company but caveat emptor 'buyer beware'.You really need a Thai that you can trust to own 2% of the shares (so you control 51%) and this isn't an opening for people to say that you can't trust a Thai.
Thank you so much for your information.
Does Juhn Theera help with forming companies and getting necessary paperwork??? Do you have any idea on the costs involved with forming a Thai company???
Can you recommend any company in Bangkok??
I have also been informed that although you have to have 51% in Thai names, you can have it written in your contract that they are classed as "sleeping" partners so don't have any rights to the company, is this correct???

David Mills at Abbey in Bangkok can help you. Google him. Setting up a company is a breeze, but setting up a company bank account is not so easy.
Thanks for the info I will google him and find out his services.
Have you any idea how much it costs to set up a Thai company for a foreigner????

Hi
Went for my certificate at Chaing Mai and immigration stopped issuing this year, only for new passports
They told me to go to the consulate and it cost me 2900 bhat
Best of luck
-
Hi
had the same problem in Chaing mai
I already made a post about it
went to my consulate and had to pay 3000 bhat
Last year Chaing mai issued for 500 bhat
Goal posts changed again i think
Good luck
-
Hi
Thanks for the replys
I just thought 3000 bhats for a 100 bhat driving licence was excessive , i dont mind paying 500 bhat like last year at immigration
but i think its not in proportion
If i was buying a condo worth 3 million i would not mind
I am here for 6 months and own the vehicles and i want to be legal
apparently its ok paying the police if you have no licence but in the case of an accident the insurance company would not approve
Any way be Happy and safe out there

Last week went to immigration Chaing Mai for the usual 500 baht residency form and they said they do not do
them anymore but pointed to a office around the back which said free forms for only renewal of passport
I wanted to renew for my car and bike licence and they told me to go to the consulate
next day went to the consulate to be informed it was 2,950 baht and I wasn't too pleased
I had no option to pay and went to register my licence and they could not believe the price
Is this the norm now all over Thailand or just Chiang Mai
I wanted to be legal over here but think it is a lot to pay when the licence is only 100 baht
I am on a two entry tourist visa
Thanks happy new year

Anyone have any ideas on the best place to eat for Christmas Day in Chiang Mai????
-
Just come back from Pai and used the mini bus service direct from the bus station which is far more superior to AYA service.
Used them last year too without any issues.
3 hours and 150 bahts plus you can choose your seat number which is a real bonus so you can sit at the front which is far more comfortable than the back

We live in Chiang Mai for 6 months and have friends visiting us in mid November for 2 weeks. They have traveled to Thailand before and been on all the "tourist trips".
Would really appreciate some recommendations on day trips, places to visit and short trips in and around Chiang Mai as we have access to a car. Also would really appreciate some recommendations for eating venues and bars (they are Irish) so if anyone knows of a good Irish venue that would be much appreciated too.

Does anyone know where you can buy Aromatherapy Oils from in CM???

I have just brought a 1989 BMW E30 and find the debate on ethanol like many others a little confusing
I found on the net this article http://autorepair.about.com/cs/generalinfo/a/aa102100a_2.htm
Does this clarify or is this a another spin
Happy and inexpensive motoring

You didn't specify what size of an apartment that you need, nor the area you prefer to reside in.
If you are looking for condos, the rule of thumb is that they don't like to rent out the units for less than six months, Naturally if you took a longer lease, say a year, the price would be substantially cheaper.
If you are looking at serviced apartments try going to the Dome Residence off of Huay Kaew Road near Kad Saun Kaew--the rooms are smallish, but I think that they are in your budget and can be rented month to month.
Well we would prefer around 50 to 55sq metres but it seems quite difficult so maybe we will have to look at a studio.
We prefer the Huay Kaew, Nimman areas. Hillside 4 is a brilliant location but some of the studios are very dated, would love to look at some that have been modernized. Went to Unique just off Nimman yesterday and they are fabulous but a bit pricey. Would love to stay there .though
If anyone as or knows of anything at Hillside 4 or Unique I would really appreciate contact info.

If the education facility allows yes a one year extension should be available but he needs the 90 day ED visa entry to start the ball rolling so changing that entry is first priority now. In Bangkok there is actually a special desk that takes care of such errors if he would rather visit Chiang Watanna.
I stayed at Karnkanok 3 in the Jed Yod area for 2 years before moving to the moo baan. Go over there and talk to the onsite manager. Nice building and location. This is the best way to find condos. Leg work!
There are plenty too choose from.
Been there and yes very nice area although a little way out.
We spent all day yesterday looking at condo's and will be out again today.
We also thought there was lots of choice but it seems the decent ones get snapped up pretty quickly. The agents websites are not updated regularly and so you look on there and choose from their list and when you get in touch none are available.
Converting visa exempt or tourist visa to retirement visa -- anyone done in CM lately?
in Chiang Mai

Hi
went to immigration today,I was told to put 800,000 bhats into my account which i did do a month ago
Today i was told that from december 1st you had to go to Bankok or go to another country to change to retirement visa then go to Chaingmai immigration
I really wanted it to get my car licence for 5 years
I will only be here for another 3 months but want to be legal in my car
By all acounts tourist numbers are down and with all this chopping and changing, i have spoken to many farangs who are getting a little frustrated with all the extra time consuming and costs i.e trips to bankok or over the border. other destinations are looking a lot more appealing
I like Chaingmai, if there were more notice in changing rules then you can plan more
I have no problem with putting the money in the bank but now the extra costs Flight and hotels etc...make it very frustrating
Good luck to all wanting to do the same
