  1. 1500 baht seems cheap. Having said that if a price was agreed then I can understand the op being pissed off. Personally I would of just paid up at the mention of police. It could of been worse and ended up costing more. We always hire a mini bus usually costs 2500 to 3k baht
  2. Just reading this thread has got me paranoid. I regularly see cobras crossing the road at night when Im on my way home but fortunately Ive not seen any around my home. Last year there was a big green snake around the communial pool I never saw it but the kids were excited by it, one of the locals caught it and ate it as far as im aware.

I need to get tooled up as I wont sleep after reading this. Whats best? Im thinking a pitch fork on an extended handle.

  3. Apparently "Big cola" has a massive promotion on, must be giving it away cheap. We went to Khao keow zoo and the posters were all over the place, you couldnt buy coke or Pepsi there either.

Big Cola isnt the same, its Caffine free for a start!

  4. Anyone who thinks that Thailand is a violent place for 'domestics' should read the UK news over the last couple of weeks. Every day seems to bring news of a mutiple family fatal shooting or random fatal stabbing. I need to get out of this madhouse and back to the relative sanity of Thailand!

+1, I arrived back in the UK on boxing day and the news was full of domestics, murders, stabbings etc. There was even a fatal stabbing in a shop in the boxing day sales.

Wish I had stayed in Thailand

  5. Smoking in the bars and clubs doesnt really bother me, in fact I enjoy it. I went into a gogo on soi 7 a couple of weeks ago, theres a big no smoking sign on the door, when I pointed to it the chaps at the door just said its no problem you can smoke.

I get more annoyed at the non smokers who put on the fake cough whenever someone lights up.

If the bars stuck to the rules then I wouldnt go there, I like to smoke when I drink.

    peace

  6. I've trained in several martial arts over the years, Aikido has always been my favourite, When I'm in Pattaya next I wll certainly look in. I wish you all the best with this and I hope it generates a lot of interest.

    Happy new year

  7. Hi all, just wondering if theres much to do in Sri Ratcha in an evening? I know theres a night market that I'm tolds worth a look. Is there any decent bars worth going to. I'll be spendin quite a bit of time there and want somewhere to go of an evening.

    Any recomendations? Thanks in advance

  8. PATTAYA - Where a man is measured by the number of tattoos on his forearms.

So how many tattoos do you have big man?

Unfortunately, zero. But I've been thinking about getting a few really bad ones.

You really should get some and then my friend you can become a man! you should also think about getting the singha vest and shaved head with a beer belly and then you could be THE man!

  9. Do you really think people living near Walking Street will drive 3km to get 2 litters of petrol?

No. They buy petrol from small local stands... or from the only near station : Shell :(

Yes I think people would travel 3km to get petrol if the only other option was knowingly getting ripped off. I know I would, then again I think I have a little common sense.

There are lots of people who would travel the 3Km as most of the pumps are on Sukhumvit. I would, and do ever day. 3Km isn't very far.

Since people are getting ripped off at the Shell station. It' would be better to buy from the litter bottles or go the hand pump on Pratamnak Rd., than to get continually obsessed over the scam at the Shell station.

Besides that, I hate the motorbike queues at the Shell station.

    I'm with you patrickinpattaya

Bless you, thought I was on my own for a minute :jap:

  11. Do you actualy look? There's a handful of filling stations around!

So could you please make a useful answer and list some of them ?

There's 9 located between pattaya south and North. Allpattaya dot com website lists them. Personally I've used 4 or 5 over the years off suk' road. Hence I can't understand why someone would keep going back even though they know they're getting ripped off.
