  1. Hi, I'd like to go for a short holiday to Myanmar and apply for a new Ed Visa at the same time. I was wondering if anyone knows of any companies that run a tour/visa service there and that can organise the trip for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Hi, I have quite a large mango tree in my front yard. Recently I noticed a lot of the leaves had tips that were dying and some small white things growing on the very bottom of the trunk. I then find out the gardener has been watering the tree twice a day.

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can save the tree.

I will upload some photos when I get to a computer.

    Thanks!

  3. Hi, I bought a frying pan from Tesco today but turns out it is too small for my stove. Does anyone know if I will be able to exchange it for a larger size or would I be wasting my time? Thanks. (btw I searched other threads but they seemed to all be about faulty goods)

  4. I signed up with 3bb today and am just going to get dsl with them. I've never dealt with dsl until now. From my research last night I guess 3bb use dry loop so I don't have to pay for the phone line. Thanks a lot, now I understand why the guys from true couldn't do anything as they just specialise in the cable. I'm a sparky by trade but I just couldn't get my head around why the guys that came to install cable couldn't do the dsl and thought dsl mustn't be available. I will only be in this condo for 8 months and I don't want to pay for an electrician to rectify the wiring. Also I think it will be one big headache trying to get it fixed with the language barrier and the way things are done here. Turns out the 3bb contract is good for me also.

Thanks a lot for your help!

  5. I just moved into a new condo and tried to get internet connected. Just for the record I don't own the condo, I'm leasing and it was only just recently built. True came out and were going to hook up cable but when they took readings at the jack in the room the reading was too low. They said down the hall is was 60 but in my room it was 40 and they can't do it.

I then showed them the two phone jacks in my room. I don't have a phone in the room and don't know if I even get a dial tone. The men couldn't speak Engish and my Thai is not great so I don't know why all I know is they said they can't do dsl over the phone line. They didn't test it or anything. Is this right? They were blaming the building's network or wiring and said speak with the reception who I spoke to after but they blammed it on true.

I'm going to go back to true tomorrow and talk to them with a friend who can translate for me and then try 3bb and hopefully they can get it sorted. I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what my options might be. Can I get a new coax cable run to my room? I don't mind dsl over the phone but is this possible? Do I need to get a TOT phone line so I can get 3bb dsl? I was of the opinion true or 3bb could just do it through my existing phone line or maybe make a couple of changes at one of the distribution panels/frames. I know 3bb will run their own cable for dsl sometimes but I'm on the 20th floor.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  6. I'm thinking of getting 3bb or true 10mb connected to my apartment seeing as the apartment charges 500 a month for a wifi card. I was searching the forums for which is better and it seems it depends on your location. So by any chance does anyone know which will perform better in Bangkapi near The Mall. I know this question its a long shot but I thought I would ask anyway. If no one knows I'll just go for 3bb as my friends have it and pretty happy with it. Thanks.

  7. Yeh Jelato is probably a good bike for me to buy because a guy in my apartments is always selling them but I don't like the design. I'd rather buy a scoopy and have some resale value on it too. oh and I guess you guys gathered it but I'm going to buy 2nd hand.

    I'm 177cm talk n about 72 ish kilo's

I think I'll buy either the mio or the click (maybe a scoopy), is there any year and model I should look for with these bikes? And does fuel consumption make much of a difference.

  8. Hi I'm looking to buy my first bike and have a few questions if anyone can help. I'll be using it in bkk mostly to go to the shops or gym. I've been looking at the Mio basically because its 125cc, auto, looks ok n is cheaper then a scoopy and click.

    1. Is there a certain model and year of Mio I should look for? I see the GT, GTX, and RR. Whats the difference?

    2. I like the look of the fino but is there any 125cc models? will I actually notice a difference in power between a fino 115 and mio 125?

    3. If i do manage to find a decent prices click or scoopy, is there a certain model I should be looking for? I keep reading 2012 click are great but what about the 2010, 2011 models like?

    4. If I have to take it to a mechanic will a Mio/Fino be easier/cheaper to get fixed than a click/scoopy because they are carb?

    4. Is buying from mocyc safe? I'm just worried that a lot of bikes might be ex taxis that have had the odometers disconnected for a while.

    5. Can i get a motorcycle licence on a tourist visa?

    Thanks

  9. Hi, I've been reading threads for ages and going through the different service providers websites and its starting to give me a headache. My iphone is dead so I'm after a new phone. I'm probably going to get the Samsung Sii.

I was wondering if buying one at MBK is safe? I have a friend with an Sii that I can compare with at the shop if that helps. Would it be better to just go to an AIS or Samsung shop? Would I actually save much buying from MBK? I read in one thread if you buy a Samsung phone you can register it there and then with Samsung Thailand and if it breaks just take it to a Samsung repair centre.

Also I was looking at either the 550 baht or 799 baht package from AIS http://www.ais.co.th/12call/en/pro-Reccomended.html . Does anyone have any other recommendations? I spend most of my time in Bangkapi if that matters.

    Thanks.

  10. Hi, this week i have to go to Savannakhet to get a new Tourist Visa. I've got a couple of questions regarding this trip, if anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it.

    1. Can I just take Thai Baht or do I need to change it for kip before I go? If I need to change to Kip can I change it in Savannakhet easy enough? Or should I do it where I live in BKK? sorry bit of a dumb question.

    2. For the Laos Visa is it the same as Cambodia, if I pay in US dollars does it work out cheaper or can I just pay in baht?

    3. Can anyone confirm how much a tuk tuk from Laos Immigration to the Thai Consulate costs? The Thaivisa.com visa run guide thing says 20b (I guess for a shared tuk tuk?) where as some other guides are saying like 100-200 baht?

  11. Hi I'm currently training/learning Muaythai but I am on a Tourist Visa. I would like to continue training and would like to apply for an Ed Visa. My question is does the school I am training at have to be registered with the Ministry of Education for me to be able to apply for an Ed Visa using them as my school? The gym I am training at is a legit well known gym but is not a tourist gym so I am not sure how they are registered. I am guessing the more tourist orientated camps that offer the Ed Visas are registered with the Ministry of Education and this gym is probably just registered as a business. Or maybe all Muaythai camps are considered schools I am not sure. Would a letter of acceptance and the gyms registrations papers be enough for an Ed Visa or do I need to get some paperwork from the Ministry of Education? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated? Thanks

  12. Hey thanks for the replies, I've already got the 30 day extension but my visa expires before the date I have extended too (lucky I started doing my homework early or I wouldn't have known I have to re-enter Thailand before the visa expires haha).

1 last dumb thing are the photos pretty much the same size as the ones you use on the visa extension forms, I think they're like 4cmx5cm or something, I've got some spare so I might just take those.

  13. Hi, I need to activate the 2nd entry of my Tourist Visa. I'm going to go to Aranyaprathet/Poipet to do my border crossing. I was wondering what I need to take with me. Obviously money and my Passport but do I need to take any paper work or photo's? Is Thai baht ok or do I need to take US dollars for the cambodian side? Also is it really busy? Should I take a hat and a lot of water? Or can I buy water/food there? Sorry for these newbie questions, it's my first time going there and I'm doing it solo. These Q's have probably been posted somewhere before but I keep searching and can't seem to find anything. Thanks.
