Not enough food topics recently so I feel obliged to start one!

In search of the best tasting and best value Fish and chips in town. I think I have the winner - unless you can tell me otherwise...

I've just discovered "Chilli Belle fish and Chips" on the side of the new Rimping Supermarket (the one next to Airport Plaza). To find it just pull into the Rimping car park, walk past the door to go into the supermarket about 20m and there you are. Lucky you!

I've been twice this week and in my, not very humble opinion (as a Brit - and therefore Fish and Chip expert!), it's delicious and ridiculously cheap. It really is better than 80% of the now mostly non-British owned chippies in Blighty; Thai owned I think, but they sure know how to make batter and how to fry British styley...they even have cod if you want to fork out for it. Personally I'm not sure it's worth it: the snapper is delicious, as are the battered shripms and calamari rings. You don't get many chips (unless you buy a seperate large portion) but they are lovely - crispy onthe outside, but fluffy in the middle.

Someone has suggested to me that it is an off-shoot of a restaraunt here in CM. Anyone know anymore about this?

there's only 3 fish and chip shop's in chiangmai and one of them isn't even on here!

Ive been in all of these establishments and as far as fish and chips goes piggy's can't be beaten. as far as i know they have only been open a month or so. maybe someone else will win this poll because they have been in business for years but for price and quality piggy's is best!!!

maybe charlie's should lower his normal fish meal to 110 baht????

looking at the kitchens in these different places always makes me think too. can you see what goes on in there? is everything boxed up good at night and stored the correct way! i don't want any food that a rat has been nibbling on!

piggy's is nice and clean and the portion sizes are still great.

Thats a good point, its always nice to see a clean kitchen and she the cooks working. i often wonder what the kitchen looks like out the back somewhere in an old shed full of rats and lizards running around.

I see an old lady of about 95 pushing a trolly around for about 10 miles everyday collecting bottles and cans, she is always dressed clean and she has massive respect as she never begs for nothing! now she is poor and i give her a little bit of money when i see her because she deserves it!

alot of the old women you see begging with babies, well their daughter {the real mother} is usually working in the bars and they do the begging as they are now too ugly to work in the bar.

they get good money from some idiots.

If you want to donate something put it in the many children's charity boxes you see in the airports and shopping centers.

He is voicing his opinion through me as he has no computer and is not computer literate. jj market is the bar area that leads up to the big tesco lotus where there's many car lots . sorry i don't know the name of the road, im sure someone will write it on here.

Im writing this for a good friend who has recently had a bad experience at the piston shop near jj market. he wants me to warn other people about this place.

now after getting the work done on his bike he has found out the guy made a 250 baht profit on each spark plug charged double for the air filter. refused to give the left over oil of which he had paid for. and over charged with the labour.

he was recommended this place thats why he went there {bad recommendation !}

he said in general he rips everyone off as much as he can.

If you do pay any money make sure you have the policeman's number and the police station's number incase you do need to contact them!

I went in to piggy's yesterday for the 1st time and i was going to eat fish and chips until i saw the indian food they sell, i ended up eating a chicken tikka masala washed down with a large leo. i was well impressed , i must return to try the fish next time haha

LEO tastes like old coins! chang draught in a bottle is quite nice even more if its served by a chang girl!

Im not a veggie but i tried taste of heaven in thapae road and it was a great meal and good friendly service, my veggie friend who took me there goes all the time and she's quite a fussy eater so it must be up to scratch.

The yellow atms used to be free but i got charged 150 baht by using one too the other day!
