  1. A 1 Month Business Visa to Cambodia is not a multiple entry visa........... I don`t think 3 Months is either - I`m not 100% sure but the 6 Months Business Visa is definitely multiple entry.

So depending on how many times you need to enter it might be cheaper to extend your visa the first time you arrive - and it will save you a lot of pages in your passport.

    A 6 Months Business Visa is approx US$ 150.

  2. I still have the problem by receiving calls and sms. Last time I went to Cambodia I figured out, that having Mfone as roaming operator I didn't receive a call from someone, who uses Mfone (living in Cambodia). As I switched to Hello, I could receive the phone call, but still no SMS. Now also tried by predialing the 165, which is mentioned on the homepage of Mfone, but that also didn't work... I don't understand why I have the problems, as I could make calls, could send sms and can receive SMS from other countries without problems...

    cheers

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly - you want to use your Thai Sim Card in Cambodia?..... If so what Thai Provider do you use - I know friends of mine use 12Call here without problems but I seem to remember them speaking about you needing to activate your number for overseas use to receive SMS....

Prefix numbers in Cambodia are determined by your choice of provider....... Hello is 166 , MFone is 165 and Mobitel is 177 and so on .... Straight 001 is the most expensive way to dial out...

  3. Regular Bus service from Snooky to Pattaya US$ 23 approx 10 hours -

I will be going from Snooky to Pattaya and hate long mini bus trips.

Is it at all practical to take a bus from Snooky to Ko Kong and then make my own arrangements such as a mini bus to Trat and then a real bus from Trat to Pattaya?

Yes it's possible, but not as easy as it sounds. The route from Had Lek border to Trat is controlled by the minibus operator(I won't use the term mafia)The minibuses are supposed to leave every 40 minutes, and take about 75 minutes to Trat. However they won't leave until they are full, but if they do,they take you to Klong Yai,which is about 15 minutes towards Trat, and wait there for more passengers. You have no chance of getting any transport from there to Trat, and you will have paid the 120B by then,so they don't care. The trip to Trat can take well over 2 hours.Which means that if you have got the early bus from S-ville and crossed the border straight away, you just miss the 15.00 bus to Pattaya.I'm not sure if there are any later buses,if there are you will get to Pattaya very late.I have used this route many times, and if traveling with others,I arrange a Pattaya taxi to come and pick us up,it's more expensive, but a lot quicker and more comfortable. And worth every satang to avoid paying the minibus operator! You could try and get a moto to Trat,it's possible, but it's a long way,and I've never fancied it.I have done the bus/minibus route,as suggested by Snookygirl, and it works well, got to Pattaya at about 19.00 and dropped off close to the hotel.Probably for a single traveller it's the easiest option

The only thing I can add to the above is that the Sihanoukville - Koh Kong part of the approx. US$ 23 trip I mentioned earlier is in a regular bus and not a minusbus so maybe it is what you`re looking for Baabooey.... :)

  4. You're right goshar - It is the obligation of the staff to provide you with their Khmer Work Book - hence pay for it as well.

As I wrote earlier then many/most Barang do not have A Foreign Work Permit however legally you are required to.

The Labor Department of different provinces also seem unequally strict enforcing Labor Laws/collecting 'extra pay' and as usual Sihanoukville is high on the list....

  5. hi tombkk

A one year visa entitles you to work and carry out all kinds of business related activites. I believe the 3, 6 and 9 month visas dont have the working entitlement but only the business entitlement.

So it looks your all covered.........

With all due respect then all foreigners working legally in Cambodia has to have a`Foreign Work Permit` which has nothing to do with your Business Visa. It costs US$ 100 per year - the first year it`s US$ 40 extra for the book itself - on top of your yearly business visa. I`ve had a business visa since 5 years and a `Foreign Work Permit` since 2 years.

Are there requirements as to minimum taxable salary per month for a work permit (as in Thailand)? Minimum capital for the company, and number of local staff?

No No and No - but above questions are actually not relevant in relation to a Foreign Work Permit as you get the same book weather you work in your own company-business or for someone else. The Foreign Work Permits are handled by The Department of Labor in Cambodia.

I don't understand the difference between "work" and "business related activities". Kindly explain.

As i understand it "business" means meeting potential clients, looking to buying a business etc. and "work" means you are able to work full time and receive a salary or work for your own business.

I do know that you will be able to do what you explained as i have several friends who run businesses work etc on the one year visa. Also there are no other real visas available only the tourist and business, that or you make a $50,000 donation to the king for Khmer citizenship!!

    @ Boarbaboon

Where do you find the distinctions you explained above as I have never heard about them and would like to see the law reference?

I have several friends doing that as well HOWEVER that does not make it legal - you do need a `Foreign Work Permit` to work legally in Cambodia just as my 18 staff all have a `Khmer Work Book` at U$ 5 per person.

  7. The Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh now issues 2 month dual entry Tourist Visas without any problems - 6 of my Farang Friends in Thailand has done this trip within the last 2 months. Travel Agents in Sihanoukville can send your passport to PP and have it back in 2 days at approx US$ 90.

Regular Bus service from Snooky to Pattaya US$ 23 approx 10 hours - reverse still to be caught from Sukhumvit Road as earlier mentioned in this thread.

Book a GuestHouse/Hotel in Sihanoukville and most will be happy to send a car to pick you up at the boarder - I now I will at US$ 60.
