but already existing 2 thai applications, as well as a new one for foreign tourists, are much better options, because they can actually trace spread of virus.
and data about vax or being ill or positive in the past can be incorporated in those applications.
using two apps that TRACE THE SPREAD OF VIRUS is better than stopping the spread of the virus. you know that is what you just wrote? and people here think the Thai's govt officials are stupid.

I get so irate by slow play it drives me insane on the weekends. The performance of the martials is a particular bug bear, in that they are to scared or never ever visible to tell groups to hurry up... The only time i have seen them do anything was when the course owner was coming to play and they were practically pushing people around.
Getting irate with slow play is part of my weekend ritual now, if its a quick round i am frustrated there is nothing to gripe at afterwards.. and feel cheated....
having faults is ok if you know what they are ! that post made me laugh. hope this response did not - make you irate.

playing 2 balls is ok unless you are holding up the group behind, some people are oblivious to people behind
Also if you are keeping up with the 5 ball in front of you - hit as many as you like surely?? your not going anywhere. dont you agree?? This has not been an issue for me for ages - but i do play 2 balls [occasionally] if I tee of early and no one behind me and ALWAYS look to make sure no one behind me waiting.

Burapha at 1250 baht all-in is a great deal.
Pattana another good course now 1350 baht all-in.
Thanks Hamster - I would argue Pattana is no where near as good as Blue Canyon - Burapha is on a par and a good deal for sure.

Curious, having read all the horror stories (and experienced a little many years ago) how much would it cost for a taxi to get from the accommodation mentioned to the respective courses? Eg. Patong to Red Mountain/Laguna, Laguna to each?
Hi Topt - yes the taxi's are still an issue as far as i can tell here. having said that red mountain / laguna to and from Patong would not be an issue - honestly contact me if you come to Phuket I will take you to Blue Canyon for the cost of the petrol! Of course there is also the fact you can rent a car for the day for about the cost of the taxi far to and from the airport - traffic is creeping back up again - but by and large it is nothing like BKK / Pattaya has so it not too bad.

"And it might actually be the most affordable place to play golf in Thailand."
Personally i don,t consider 2600baht for a round of golf as affordable...at that price it would have to be 0nce a fortnight not once a week. Far far better deals in Chonburi for under 1400baht ...all in. imho
Yes Keith - but you have taken the most expansive round in Phuket and compared it to some of the the cheapest in Chonburi - that is hardly fair. As I said you can play Blue Canyon 1500thb including caddie and cart - and you wont find a better course in Pattaya that offers that - feel free to correct me. Yes one thing Pattaya does have is very cheap - more basic average parklands style courses cheaper than you get in Phuket - with 40+ courses there you have that luxury. But Red Mountain is absolutely top class right up there with the Siam Courses. If budget is your ONLY consideration then I understand but if you compare the quality of the course - I still think Phuket is the best option.

Graham.

Yesterday the PM said it was 100% under control.
The fact is that it is already too late for Thailand and the country will suffer huge from this.
The big question is now, is how Thais will react to this, when hospitals start to get overcrowded? Because there is a good chance Bangkok will become like Wuhan.
I suspect you have done very little research so let me explain a few things - every thing I write here is FACT.
they said they can not stop is spreading - of course not - if there are 8 cases today and 10 tomorrow - it is spreading - if all 10 are in hospital getting treatment and then released = I would agree this is under control. they are not necessarily contradictory comments.
If people who are not educated on exactly what is going on continue to panic yes hospitals will get over crowded despite in most cases having almost ZERO chance to have the virus.
Canadian scientist have stated that only prolonged interaction in close quaters with an infected person are you likely to catch it.
To the best of my knowledge still only 2 people have contracted the virus outside of China - 1 a bus driver of chinese tourists 1 a german who had just spent 1 or 2 days with a colleague from China who sadly did not show any symptoms till after he left germany.
Avoid spending prolonged periods with any one who has just returned from China and the chances of getting infected are incredibly slim - with the information we currently have those are the facts.
stay safe every one but also stay calm.

I guess they don't think too much.
yes why would you want a police check before leaving a person alone with young children for hours a day - what a crazy thought?? It is not always asked for but I am sure it is on the checklist. If you have never been to Thailand you need a police check from your home country.
Just a point and may well not be the issue here - I have seen people totally in appropriately dressed for an embassy visit get turned away for a document I don't have. return flight, a police check from where ever. etc etc. Just some thing to think about when you are going and and why 1 person is reporting this and seemingly no one else is having an issue??

It.s just about the start of the High Season again, all the crooks lady/prostitutes with $$$$$ signs in their eyes arriving to rip-off the unsuspecting trusting tourists wanting to have a great holiday and so many/too many deaths already!!!
I am at a loss with this place, death everyday here "now" in Phuket, i will be glad to have a break from this carnage at months end.... back home for high season.... i honestly thought when we had the coup, things were FINALLY looking up.....but alas, still unnecessary deaths because there is ZERO duty of care shown by the grubby element of Thai society and the piss weak authorities dont give a rats arse.......If it was my Son or brother,I would lodge a civil suit against the operator, local authorities and the TAT and make it as public as i could so all can see what this place is REALLY LIKE, as its their responsibility to ensure the safety of others before renting out a potentially deadly piece of machinery......Just like the motorbikes, they rent out to all and sundry NO questions asked, then the corrupt BIB, book them down the road for NOT having a license....
HELLO, why doesn't the corrupt BIB stop the vendors from renting to folk without licenses in the first place so we can curb all the unnecessary farang deaths on bikes as well? We all know the reason for this dont we! I have had this debate with a few BIB before, the answers are just buck-passing and defy logic, what an absolute joke! I do love this place' but i get awfully frustrated sometimes, especially when some poor bugger loses their life as a dIrect consequence of a GREEDY Thai......... i live in thailand, work and pay tax in thailand, married to a thai, have land up North and have many lovely Thai friends.....BUT, I have had a gun pointed to my head and been bashed by Thai's in groups as they are cowards and why, because i am a farang and they are jealous or whatever and because I dont take "all" their crap, so i am qualified to put my 2 cents worth in....just my rant, coz i see this everyday and it is NOT getting better and no-one in thailand the LOS (LAND OF SCAMS) EVEN CARES!!! Its a shame for the country and all the descent Thai's out there ... please BE SAFE EVERYONE!!
Scott - this is Thailand this is how it is. suggest your ticket should be one way if you don't like it.
Unnecessary farang deaths on bikes are caused by farangs on bikes. How often have you seen a group of people on 3 mopeds, that costs more than renting a car - why are they not in a car, there choice, there life. STOP blaming the Thai's.
Guess what, and I am not saying it is right, but if you DONT want get beaten up or have gun pointed at your head - you do have to put up with their crap. You are 'qualified' to put your 2 cents in, and a group of 8 guys are 'qualified' to beat you up and point a gun at you.
And again, reasonable point to suggest he lost his life as much to his own foolishness as a result of a greedy Thai. I would love to know what business you are in as there are probably plenty times when you could have possibly have made a safe decision but opted to take the one that makes you more money. just about every one every where in the world does it, I doubt you would be different.

So many things are wrong here.
-Jet skis should not be on any Phuket beaches, period. If this was enforced, the points below would be moot.
-All jet skis ridden require a Thai captains license, this Russian did not have one, the same as every other jet ski renter in Phuket. Why isn't Marine 5's boss enforcing existing laws on the books? The answer is rhetorical and it's all about the baht.
- Conditions were far too dangerous for the jet ski clowns to even consider renting them out.
-Why isn't there a better medical procedure used for conditions like this? Seriously taking the guy to Patong, then deciding to transfer to Vachira, really doesn't cut it. Why wasn't he taken straight away to one of the private hospitals? Ambulances should be stationed not more than 5-10 minutes away. This is a holiday island with first world prices for goods and services, yet 3rd world medical emergency services.
-Marine 5 boss calling this an "accident". No it's not an accident, it's a serious incident due to your dereliction of duty by not enforcing laws that are on the books for some reason unbeknownst to the general public. Shame on Marine 5 and it's lack of a backbone on the jet ski issue.
When it is too dangerous on the water - who really is the clown, renter with no experience or rentee.
First world prices? For what. Beer, No, hospitals, No, Hotels, No, restaurants, No, Rent not even close. Golf Yes. Bugger....
Phuket is not as cheap as it used to be, but it is not first world or even close.

And so many young Thai people can't even afford to go to university. Sick...
Sounds like you're jealous because a 19-year-old is more successful than you are. It's funny that so many farangs get so jealous when they hear of a Thai person with more money than them. Perhaps it hurts that they're not top of he pile like they thought they were.
If you're so concerned about Thais that can't go to university, why don't you do something to help. Maybe sponsor a student or set up a charity to help. No chance of that though, as your type just prefer to whinge all the time.
Actually, I am appalled by this child/families behaviour and agreed when I read Euroflash comment.
I work full time at a children's charity and volunteered here for 2 year before that.
I have no issue accepting the fact and often comment when talking about fund raising, the fact that the rich Thais' have WAY more money than the rich Farangs.
But this is ludicrous. And yes the money could be WAY better spent. But that goes for a lot of things. But when you about stuff like this, yes it annoys me. And yes I spend my life trying to help others. And Yes I whinge a lot

I actually read the headline and first paragraph and thought I would jokingly write 'police decide likely suicide' I actually snorted and spat on the computer keyboard when I read it.
It is not a funny story in any shape or form and I feel sorry for the deceased and there family / friends (and the poor hotel staff that found him) but his police force is just comical.
At least they now seem to be looking at the possibility some one else may have done them harm
Not sure how you can blame the Phuket News if that is what they are told by the police. I am pretty sure the police would let us know if the Phuket News repeatedly reported things that was not told to them by the police which was a)wrong and b)made the police look bad.

To all those who commented ' you people are obsessed with alcohol' etc etc I am sure you guys would stock up on food if you where told ALL shops are closed for 2 days and you might well post on here asking are they really going to be closed, but you DONT need food every day. but why put yourself through that. may as well be prepared.
For the record here in Phuket the bans are stricktly enforced these days, and most restaurants wont let you have a singha coffee (beer in a coffee mug) like days gone by, these are places I eat in EVERY week and they know I am not going to get drunk and cause a problem - but still NO alcohol. I like a wine or a beer with my meal, and my wife and I eat out 6 times per week, so if I need to get food AND alcohol in for 2 consecutive days, yeah I prefer to plan ahead.
I wont die with out the booze for 2 days, but nor would you die with out food, but you would plan for it. Wouldn't you?
If forums like these are not for quastions like this they are a waste of time. Certianly more relevant question to me than anything about bar girls, bar fines or all the other rubbish most of you like to talk about. (sorry many of you).
(By the way, I dont know the asnwer but interested as in Phuket there is the EPL Master game on the Sunday and would be a tough sell if there was alcohol for sale).

Looking at the dates isn't it kind of late for the faux outrage?
We see graffiti on the walls of some buildings made by roman soldiers and look at it with great interest and historic importance. A hard nylon brush and a bucket of soapy water will remove the 'scar' in a matter of minutes.
I think it is more a case of disrespect by idiotic people.
After all, it is one of the wonders of the ancient world, not something to be fugged around with.
But hey.... It is a measure of the intelligence of those responsible.
One of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Are you sure? Maybe you should try to read up on that.
I may not have responded except you went on to discuss the intelligence of people. Another measure is of those who post on the internet things they clearly know nothing about,

For The Brits, 2 words - Steven Lawrence
why do you miserable <deleted> still live here if it is so bad. And if you dont live here - why do you care what happens here. How bad are your lives.
On a serperate note - Muslims can not wear Yellow gold, who would have thought I would learn something from Thai Visa.

As for all this BS about Thailand, there is a knife attack in UK every four minutes. I am pretty sure most of the 'victims' are British. You really think Thailand is that much worse?
Funny how I have lived here (Phuket) for 5 years, never been stabbed, never been beaten up, never been chased by crazy moped driver.
I am not saying this guy did anything wrong at all and I wish him a speedy recovery, but stop all this BS that Thailand is SOOOOO dangerous. I still think you are just as likely to find trouble in UK - either because you are drunk and not making the best decisions or you are just unlucky and in the wrong place at the wrong time. Stephen Lawerence mean anything to you lot??? 17 years later and the police still cant bring themselves to admit how wrong they got it.

Before the xenophobia posts start would just like to say 'Passers-by assisted the injured man' I'm guessing that some of these people were Thai so all faith is not lost yet alt=w00t.gif>
As for officer Somchai Dimwit, not quite sure what he thinks about those pesky foreigners.
Sorry but I lost all faith in Thai's quite a few years back. It is the most vicious and racist nation I have ever been to (I have spent several months in 25 countries from the US to the middle east, Europe and a year in India as well as living in SE Asia for the past 12 years). I am sure there must be some good Thai's but from my personal experiences over the past decade they are few and far between.
I regularly warn friends not to travel to Thailand, come to Cambodia instead, the hospitality here is amazing and the smiles are far more genuine.
Sadly my instant reaction to meeting any Thai now is one of complete distrust.
and yet here you are on Thai Visa?
Is Cambodia that boring?
You don like thai's or thailand, no one here misses you or wants you back, live in Cambodia and enjoy. Bye

RIP those lost and hopes for a speedy recovery for those injured.
This has become so familiar to me living here that it just doesn't shock me anymore; kind of just wake up expecting the next one. Very sad situation.
The only time that I will be concerned is when it is someone 'near and dear' to me.
As for the rest of the population if they are not concerned about their own safety why exactly should I be.
WOW. What a comment. how can you be so certain that all 9 people that died where not concerned about there own safety.
One of the worst posts I have ever read.

Best of luck - no idea what you think you will find Pattaya that you wont find here in Phuket IF YOU LEAVE PATONG!
(The below is not aimed at Bill, sorry but just fed up with these comments)
So many .... on here lambasting Phuket, when really you are talking about Soi Bangla and taxi drivers. TIP: Dont go to Soi Bangla and don't get so drunk you can't drive and Phuket still is a great place to live.
If you NEED to go to places like Soi Bangla and NEED to drink yourself stupid every night, I am pleased you dont like Phuket, bugger of and dont come back and we are both happy.

My favourite bit is that the Pattaya Daily News mentions Bangkok specifically a few times and only once mentions Pattaya. as for being a large brothel - that is pattaya Not Bangkok. BKK has way more to offer - other than sex - than Pattaya does.
As for "Actions" comment. Italy Claims to be a Catholic country - but still has prossies. England claims to be a Christian country and has prossies. What is your point?
Thai is a Bhuddist country.
