How much do you know about this story? Find it odd that folk here are quick to admonish while overlooking the obvious corruption that goes on behind the scenes.

What corruption the drug dealer boyfriend has all but admitted to sending drugs?? She signed for it? I'm not saying she did or didn't know but she signed to receive a package from her boyfriend that was illegal drugs.

but already existing 2 thai applications, as well as a new one for foreign tourists, are much better options, because they can actually trace spread of virus.

and data about vax or being ill or positive in the past can be incorporated in those applications.

using two apps that TRACE THE SPREAD OF VIRUS is better than stopping the spread of the virus. you know that is what you just wrote? and people here think the Thai's govt officials are stupid.

I get so irate by slow play it drives me insane on the weekends. The performance of the martials is a particular bug bear, in that they are to scared or never ever visible to tell groups to hurry up... The only time i have seen them do anything was when the course owner was coming to play and they were practically pushing people around.

Getting irate with slow play is part of my weekend ritual now, if its a quick round i am frustrated there is nothing to gripe at afterwards.. and feel cheated....

having faults is ok if you know what they are ! that post made me laugh. hope this response did not - make you irate.

playing 2 balls is ok unless you are holding up the group behind, some people are oblivious to people behind

Also if you are keeping up with the 5 ball in front of you - hit as many as you like surely?? your not going anywhere. dont you agree?? This has not been an issue for me for ages - but i do play 2 balls [occasionally]  if I tee of early and no one behind me and ALWAYS look to make sure no one behind me waiting.

Curious, having read all the horror stories (and experienced a little many years ago) how much would it cost for a taxi to get from the accommodation mentioned to the respective courses? Eg. Patong to Red Mountain/Laguna, Laguna to each?

Hi Topt - yes the taxi's are still an issue as far as i can tell here. having said that red mountain / laguna to and from Patong would not be an issue - honestly contact me if you come to Phuket I will take you to Blue Canyon for the cost of the petrol! Of course there is also the fact you can rent a car for the day for about the cost of the taxi far to and from the airport - traffic is creeping back up again - but by and large it is nothing like BKK / Pattaya has so it not too bad.

"And it might actually be the most affordable place to play golf in Thailand."

Personally i don,t consider 2600baht for a round of golf as affordable...at that price it would have to be 0nce a fortnight not once a week. Far far better deals in Chonburi for under 1400baht ...all in. imho

Yes Keith - but you have taken the most expansive round in Phuket and compared it to some of the the cheapest in Chonburi - that is hardly fair. As I said you can play Blue Canyon 1500thb including caddie and cart - and you wont find a better course in Pattaya that offers that - feel free to correct me. Yes one thing Pattaya does have is very cheap - more basic average parklands style courses cheaper than you get in Phuket - with 40+ courses there you have that luxury. But Red Mountain is absolutely top class right up there with the Siam Courses. If budget is your ONLY consideration then I understand but if you compare the quality of the course - I still think Phuket is the best option.

Headline should read "Homophobic doctor clutching at straws".

No consideration given to the possibility that a mossie traveled back with the infected person or that Dengue was already in Europe.

    Oh look, December 2018:

"Dengue fever is a viral infection passed on from a mosquito bite, and affects millions worldwide. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has published an assessment of the risk of dengue fever transmission after three cases of dengue were confirmed in Spain and six in France in October 2018"

"On 9 October 2018, the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare of Spain reported two confirmed cases of locally-acquired dengue in adult residents of Spain.

On 16 October, a third case was confirmed . All three individuals are from the same family and experienced onset of symptoms in late August 2018, after spending time in Murcia region and Cádiz province (Andalucía). There is no history of travel to known dengue risk areas "

Andalucia/Murcia.....Southernmost Spain.......a buzz away from Africa with the right wind.

Last year's sentencing of the three men (309 years each), obviously didn't send a deterrent to this evil man, so it's hard to believe it will deter every other sick pervert in future.

if 5 people are going to be a child trafficker 4 see heavy sentences handed out so dont do it - 1 does. he gets caught. sentenced to 300+ years in jail.  5 more people are going to be a child trafficker 4 see heavy sentences handed out so dont do it - 1 does. and on it goes. They dont say it will deter ALL criminals. it is not rocket science - the RTP is far from perfect but give credit where it is due they do appear to be doing something about this problem AND they are given high marks by outside committees saying they are doing a lot. In a country where family members encourage other family members into prostitution can not be easy to solve.

We have a nice pool in our village (gated village, moo ban or whatever you would call it).

I regularly see 4 and 5 year old children swimming in the pool completely unsupervised...and I don’t mean Mum at the pool but head buried in iPhone. I mean parents at home while 4 and 5 year olds “swimming” in the pool. None of them can even swim...they jump in and can just barely make it back to the side without drowning.

And these are 1. Middle class Thai families and 2. Kids of guys who work offshore and whose wives take care of the kids while they are away.

If it is that bad in that socioeconomic group then god help the lower socio ecomonmic group.

Totally unforgivaeable by the Leuk Kreung families in my view.

slightly off topic but a friends wife had to collect something from me when he was off shore - drives her youngest kid (anout 3 or 4) 1 side of phuket to the other no helmet. They have a CAR!! WHY. I think my mate would literally (and I mean literally) kill he if she did something stupid and one of his kids ended up dead. Exactly what you are saying - relatively well of families just not caring or taking the time to make a reasonable effort. sad.

https://www.pressreader.com/   She claims to be a Doctor but isn't, oh those in this country with money are turning the place into a laughing stock, incredible, unbelievable, what an evil person...

It is not illegal (in the west) to call yourself Doctor.

that's a simple fact. you can not practice medicine and there are other titles you can not give yourself - you can not put Phd after your name [for memory] etc etc but you can call yourself Dr.

You could try, even in a one-liner, to get your facts right.

    Oh Dear Oh Dear. FACTS.

"Expat is short for the word “expatriate“. An expatriate is simply a person who lives in a different country than the one in which they were born. ."

So a Frenchman living in Singapore is an ???????

    All together now .....

No. Not easy. His crimes of arson and vandalism were committed in Bahrain. That is where he should be returned to. The fact the Australia gave the nod to have him arrested attests to the credibility and seriousness of his despicable crimes. And also gives credence to the legal trial that convicted him. Send him back to Bahrain, let him serve his sentence, then he can go on holiday to Australia or for work whatever(as a free man).

The notion that criminals can run abroad to soft touch countries (Canada and Oz) and seek asylum from their criminal sentences is a disgrace. That this guy flaunted his run and hide game made it even worse.

You should do some research before making comments like this.

This criminal was on TV playing football when he was alleged to have committed these 'despicable crimes'

Are there any companies offering travel insurance which includes diving in their regular package?  I have never seen it not listed as an exception that is not covered, its just too dangerous, the fact that it happened in a pool will not make any difference to them, had she not been training to dive it would have done, but with scuba gear on they wont pay, standard practice, so no need to name as its all of them.

diving is not scuba diving. from everything I read she Dived into a pool and was not scuba diving. there are many ways to be injured when scuba diving - breaking your neck is not one of them really one of them

Tuk Tuk driver in Chiang threatening grad driver with tourists in the car.

Taxi drivers in Bangkok doing as they please.

Mini van drivers fighting at bus terminals in rayong.

Not really the image Thailand wants the rest of the world to see, especially with the downturn in the tourism and things could get worse if the GFC  hits.

years ago these things wouldn’t be seen by the millions of people around the world, but now with Facebook,YouTube and various other forms of media, It can be posted and seen instantly, this can only do harm.

Its a shame,Thailand has so much to offer, but this we do not need.

except tourist number increase year on year on year - the internet has been around for a few years - does not stop it. so nice post just factually in accurate. I have no idea what a GFC is.

someone please enlighten me as to what insurance everyone is talking about?  Not Travel Insurance, that's for sure.  Does anyone seriously believe that a Thai insurance company would pay up?

Yes - they would. BUPA and several others. I have heard one case that according to the insured they did not pay. but also many cases where they do.
