yeah, but that's not the same as claiming it gives people cancer.

The cause of cancer is usually very hard to ascertain and it usually takes a long time to develop. Let's wait another 5 - 10 years and see how the rates of cancer compare vs pre-covid.

And if your lucky you will be given seven (7) days to leave the country, seen the threat issued to an Aussie in front of me, who wouldn't listen to what they were saying and kept telling them what they will do. He shut up quickly enough, basically he was saying they must give him an extension even though he had no proof of income or money in a Thai bank.

This has little to do with shouting. He wasn't eligible for an extension, therefore he had to leave. Maybe he was lucky they gave him 7-days and didn't lock him up.

Yeah that bloke on YouTube knows much better than that idiot doctor that spent years studying.

It depends on the bloke, but there's a lot more to research than watching YouTube videos. Doctors don't keep you healthy - they presecribe drugs to keep you alive if/when you're sick.

OK do your own heart surgery

Interesting you mentioned heart surgery. Cancer and heart conditions would be the end of me. It's a personal decision I made long ago and I'm sticking to it - no surgery or medical intervention.

It's ironic that serious heart conditions are one of the well known side effects of covid jabs.

Would you argue with a sugar producer that there are health hazards associated with consuming sugar? If you do, you’re likely to hit a brick wall. You’ll be in constant conflict if you think like this all the time. Hope you don’t. Life is too short. Enjoy the offerings at the bar, just don’t overdo the candies on offer.

Some people might attempt to have deep and meaningful discussions with bargirls and mamasans, but there is a reason why so many choose to discuss this on an expat forum instead. When you're talking to bargirls, keep the discussions as superficial as possible. Talking to you is just a job for them - they would rather not have to.

Have you known regular Thai people to worry about the future, plan ahead, perform maintenance.....at the time, there were certainly comments and complaints... but tomorrow problems are put aside until tomorrow. Prayut and the team have been smart....

There's a lot of benefit to living by the day and not stressing too much about the future. It's probably one of the reasons you are living in Thailand.

  7. Now the US government is concerned about Democracy in Thailand, but they were quite happy to accept a coup leader as PM after the last elections and didn't seem to object too strongly about the coup leader drafting a new constitution.

It would be better if the US minded their own business as they have more than enough problems of their own. Considering their own political circus, it's hard to take them seriously these days.

I don't think they notice indicators, I followed someone several KM on Sukhumvit yesterday that had one on continuously. When I am on my bike it is indicator and an arm stuck out and plenty of looking behind for right turns, I have been known to go to the left side sometimes and wait.. better than a pause in the middle of the road.... what else can you do?

I don't rely on indicators either. I check to see if someone is trying to pass me on the right (if I'm turning right) and I also use a lot of hand gestures. To be safe you have to look both ways when turning right.

In this accident Mr Sakorn is trying his best to explain it's not his fault. Sadly the victim won't be able to testify.

  9. How to deal with a Thai woman? Well, first of all, they are not all the same so we can just generalize. Please don't get upset if my generalizations don't fit your personal relationship experiences.

If we're talking about bargirls, then the answer is quite simple. Keep the relationship 100% sexual. Don't get intimate. Don't get personal (stay as far out of her personal life as possible).

Am I the only one to discover that once the sex is over, everything else is annoying? Get out of there asap once you've had your fun. If the fun has gone - get out.

Taken down to basics, she's interested in money, you're interested in sex.

My country requires to see a divorce court order and any judgement handed down by the court. Which is what I have in Thai. That will be translated and get legalized by the MFA which they will recognized.

As we all know it is very difficult for Thais to say oh we made a mistake the court already divorce you, so you do not need a certificate from us as we did not divorce you.

You can just translate this court order and get it legalized.

From what I know and this is not my first rodeo in divorce; all countries are interested in decree absolute from the Court or Ampur.

Thanks for the link will take a look

I am in Bangkok you can PM me if you like.

I don't know if a court judgement comes with a divorce cerficate or if one should be issued. I have a divorce certificate issued by the district court in Laksi. I have 2 documents: 1. Divorce Certificate. 2. Registration of Divorce. Both were translated to English and certified by MFA.

It would be easy enough to find out from my lawyer.

It is not true that all countries require to see divorce documents. There is no reporting of marriage in Australia, and a "free to marry" document to marry in Thailand is a statutory declaration that you're free to marry. They require that in Thailand if you're marrying here. The Australian govenment doesn't give a sh*t about it unless you apply for a visa to bring your wife to Australia. Other countries are very strict to the point they don't accept consensual divorce at a district office.

Generally it's how divorces are legallized in the country of your citizenship that dictates what type of divorce you need to obtain in Thailand.

You are aware big stores have overhead...staff utilities shipping costs rent etc....?

as opposed to keeping in a warehouse or even ordering it from a 3rd party

also if bought from a store you have a receipt and usually some sort of warranty

as opposed to trying to return a big buy to some random online seller..

is like buying a steak or going out to eat the same steak...you are paying for the experience

    and convenience--same as 7-11 prices

There's usually a 7-day return and immediate replacement policy at most retail shops. After that, repairs and warranty issues are handled by service centers, so it doesn't make much difference really.

If I want to buy a big item, for example a washing machine, I check retail stores and online stores to find the best deal.

I would like to know my options, and knowledge from others that had similar experience.

When through a (3) yrs divorce case at Thai court with Thai wife. Marriage registered and signed at the Thai Embassy where we were both were living at the time, and also  registered in Thailand.

The court give the ruling of the divorce and handed me a legal copy of same.

Now to get this bit of "Divorce Certificate" at the Ampur here as she does not want to sign. All said, she was the one that applied to the court for a divorced and I happily agreed. Court was because we have a kid not born here but in the marriage. She wanted Sole Custody and the Thai court said no to her.

    I would like to know.

1). Forget this bit at the Ampur as, this divorce certificate is only valid here in Thailand written in Thai and required to show one's status here really, and no other country cares about that.

Only the Thai court order is their importance. Translated and stamped my the MFA of Thailand.

Also I have no desire to remarry in Thailand.

2). So translate the Thai court order, which clearly states you are divorced blah blah. Take that to MFA after translation as it was handed down by the Thai court get it legalized use that as my Divorce any other part of the planet except Thailand. Which would state I am a divorce person. Should I ever have to show that elsewhere as being divorced.

I know in Thailand one require a Divorce certificate from the Ampur to be consider divorce here in Thailand. But that really is only valid in Thailand.

Again I have no desire to remarry here in Thailand, hence I honestly do not need a divorce certificate from any Ampur. But to be considered legally divorced elsewhere.

3). Is there a time limit here for her to sign or that can be forever? Just asking as the Ampur does not have a clue about any court.

I don't believe you need a divorce certificate from a district office as you had a judgement in court. That is your legal divorce. The Amphur divorce certificate is what you get if you get an administrative, consensual divorce at a district office. It's either one or the other, not both. I got one last week actually (mutual concent divorce sections 1514 & 1515 Chapter VI of the Thai divorce law)

Best to talk to a lawyer. If you're in Pattaya, I can put you onto a competent family lawyer who speaks English better than most expats. If you're not in Pattaya, he has agents in Bangkok to quickly organise any paper work you might require, such as certifcation of an English translation of your divorce judgement by the MFA.

If you reported the marriage in your home country, you may or may not be legally divorced. Some countries require marriage and divorce to be reported, some don't.

There's a lot of good information here to get you up to speed:

  13. for anyone who hasnt seen it i think this is the screen BJB is talking about

    enjoy ...dave2

But I think this is the "sign" he mentions. Walking Street is now called "Samsung Walking Street"!

    post-7683-1254380062_thumb.jpg

Is it not obvious that the screen is made by Samsung therefore they have the right to put their name on it,

If it was made by Sony or LG or JVC etc; it would have their name on it instead.

When you buy a tv for your home you would also have the manufacturers name on it.

I don't think Samsung would be paying for their name to be on it as the OP seems to think.

I don't think so. The name is not on the TV, it's on the billboard below the TV. It maybe a Samsung TV, but they don't have the automatic right to put a huge Samsung sign underneath the TV on a billboard just because they manufactured it. That's some type of business arrangement they made with the Pattaya City Council.

Manufacturers normally have far less obtrusive signage on their products. If they didn't, no one would buy them.

  14. But just to defend the Thai's a little bit and slip into my devil's advocate toggles...the "English" language (not referring to Ame)

can be equally and more confusing for the Thai learning our language. Cheque....Knife.....circuit.... etc etc must be

confusingly difficult to master and comprehend.

We often don't realise how f***** up English really is.

Here's a current one to consider. There's a movie called "Sorority Row" playing right now in the cinemas.

Is this "Row" pronounced "rau" as in quarrel, or "ro" as in objects place in a straight line. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think it is "rau" in this case.

It's pretty messed up when words spelt identically are pronounced differently.

I'm know there are many more good examples like this, but we just don't focus on the absurdity of it all.

  15. You should not have any problems re-entering on your "2-entries" of a tourist visa. The screening will supposedly take place upon application for your tourist visa at a consulate.

Different consulates have different policies and interpret the rules differently.

In Vientiane they will give you a tourist visa without screening right now, but they will possibly give you a red warning stamp (discussed on another thread here).
