I was at the immigration office in Jomtien 2 weeks ago.  A guy was there with his Thai wife doing his annual visa extension based on marriage.  The official asked where he lived.  He said in my wife's house.  They asked the Thai wife if he was registered to live there.  No.  So, off they went to a back office.  We left, so don't know the outcome, but seems they are cracking down on this.  A new source of revenue for them????

New Year is coming up, everybody needs money 555555555

    happy holiday season to all

Why do men get involved with ladies with no job and even less ambition in life ? yes...I guess she is pretty and all that but really just sits around for the past 3 years ? You guys need a reality check. A relationship works better if both parties are independent. if one or the other leaves the bills can still be paid. She has no option except to have you pay the bills, sad for her and even sadder for you.

all fools..... enjoy Th. Maybe should have a trip to Ph.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but the yearly endorsement is needed only if you need to leave the country (it goes together with the Non-Quota Immigrant Visa, which is the equivalent of a re-entry permit). If you don't need to travel abroad, the only thing that must be "renewed" is the red book (Alien Registration) at your local police station every 5 years.

As far as I am aware, the re-endorsement in blue book has to be done yearly as you have to pay seperately endorsement and re-entry permit, possibly I am wrong but this is my experience, maybe someone has others. As far as red book I have the same , 5years.

You do the report at a police station. You only need to do it every 5 years and it should be free.

You should go to your local police station to to get it done. Being only a few days late should not be a problem.

I'm sorry but I think this is not 100% correct, the police reporting can be 5 years valid, it is not free, approx. 300Thb.

The Yearly Endorsement in Blue resident book, is at Immigration....and not free, depending if you need or not a re-entry.

    Rgds.

  5. A couple of points.

Firstly, under both Thai and UK law, a when a Thai lady gets married' in Thailand, the UK or any where else, she has the right to choose whether to change her name to her husbands or keep her maiden name.

Are the Thai Embassy in London and/or the Consulate in Hull removing that right?

Secondly, on the Birmingham Consulate Website, in the non immigrant visa section, there is no reference to the Thai wife's name on her passport/ID card needing to be the same as her husbands, and the only reference to required finance is the following:

    - Evidence of adequate finance ( 20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family )

There's no reference to needing to show 65K baht per month income or have 800K baht in a current account in the UK.

is your wife took the husbands name she should be able to show the paper that she get from the place where you registred your marriage that she changed her name , for use in uk this should also be translated certified by foreign affairs and again certified by uk embassy

  6. I would like to apply, but I was told applicants who have already applied have to pay a fee every year while their application is under consideration...does anyone know if that is true and, if so, how much the fee is?

NOT TRUE, I applied in 2009, application accepted and sine then under investigation, all I have to do is go to Immigration every 6 months, completely free renewal of extension except for reentry permit, usual fee.

  7. To the OP ...

If you want the 'Patpong' experience, search for hotels on Silom or Sathorn Rd.

Soi Cowboy or NANA are both popular, and probably more so amongst the regulars to the Area.

    Both are OK.

If you want NANA look for hotels in Sukhumvit Sois 1 - 20

If you want Soi Cowboy look for Hotels from say Sukhumvit Sois 10 - 36

If you wish specific recommendations, then better give the Budget and length of stay.

My sister is currently staying a week in Soi 11 ... also know as the 'Farang Soi'

I stayed last month in S33, Soi 33 Sukhumvit.

Did you go to the "Darkside" Skvit Soi 33 on that occasion?

  8. Depends whether OP is using Thai or overseas ATM card

    Based on my experience:

    - single time withdrawal limit at Thai ATMs typically 20,000THB (ie 20 x 1000 THB, reduces to 20 x 500THB if no 1000s available)

    - this is often default limit for Thai ATM cards. However, eg.SCB can increase this limit up to 200,000 THB on request (ie 10 withdrawals per day)

    - with a Thai bank account you should be able to go to a bank with passport and proof of account and withdraw significantly higher than this subject to availability of funds (yours and theirs!). I have withdrawn 1 million THB in cash with no notice

    - international ATM cards will be subject to limits in your own country. Eg in UK, some cards may have a limit of 250GBP. The maximum withdrawal limit in Thailand wil be the equivalent value in THB and so will be subject to forex fluctuations

International Cards are not subject what this concerns, as you say to your own country, they are still subject to the 20.000THB/withdrawal. e.g. if I want 50K,with one of my foreign ,each limited to 5000Euro cash withdrawal, not payments, I need to do 2 X 20.000 + 1 X 20.000 Thb, because if I withdraw 10 or 20K the foreign fixed cost remains the same, + Exchange rate + 8 Euro / withdrawal.

  9. Baht 10,000?? That's usually the on-screen limit.

So go to another option, like "options" or "other," also on-screen. There it asks how much, normally can get up to baht 20,000.

AEON was baht 25,000 but last month dropped down to baht 20,000.

In addition, if you're using an international bank debit card, might need to check the ATM limit from your foreign bank, and if a low limit, ask that it be increased.

    Mac

Yes indeed, so was Bangkok Bank, and also without the 150Thb surcharge, times change, Banks dont.

  10. 2 options:

He was drugged = not his fault

He bought Yabba or some other shit= go to jail, pay compensation, deported after jail time.

I hope for him that he was drugged, a urine/blood test will give the answer.

How can a test show someone took someting intentionally or not?

Anyway my drink has been spiked before but I didn't walk around naked or showing my "snake", just fell asleep and lost my car for 3 days.

  11. Saudis making 17,000 damsels in Soi Nana happy......are u crazy and this comment is simply outrageous. Shows you have no clue about Saudis. They actually made more than 100,000 local gay boys working in the gay bars and also the ladyboys happy.PLus there has been some unexplained shocking deaths of sheep in certain upcountry farms!

Good point AA, can we assume the upcountry sheep are known as "baa" girls?rolleyes.gif

not anymore, they upgraded to " yabaa" girls

  12. I'm happy he survived and is now recieving care.

That said. There is a BIG difference between "calls for help" and genuine suicide attempts. Genuinely suicidal people always jump immediately, take the pills or w/e method they are using, without hesitation. A suicide attempt is one where the person goes through with it immediately and entirely, but for whatever reason survives it. A call for help is when they hang around on rooftops or w/e until somebody stops them. That is a linguistic issue I have with the title of the OP, and does not change the fact the poor guy is in a state and I am very happy he was picked up and taken into care.

To anyone else in this boat, please remember; there are billions of people in the world and somewhere out there is a person who will love you truly for who you are, not for your money or for your friend-group or whatever. You just have to keep going out into the world, try new stuff, join a book-club or w/e other unlikely place, she might be waiting for you there. I say that as somebody who has been celibate and single since the late 1980s and I am super-happy to be both of those things btw, but I have also lost a lot of good friends to suicide, usually involving "women and drink" problems which seem to compound each other. Never give up hope.

Very wise words, but as usually my sarcasm takes over reason so: maybe you should become, if not yet, some kind of preacherman in some kind of church.

How about: the "church of the educated reading broken hearted and lonely farang in land of .............."
