I'm on the amnesty because I can't go to Penang for my usual non-B. I requested the 30 day extension letter from British Embassy on Thursday and I received it on Saturday. I'll be applying for the extension at Phuket Immigration today or tomorrow and wait to see what happens closer to 25th October. To apply for this letter (If you are a Brit) email [email protected]

You must not make any entries in the work permit book yourself.
Yes sure. I meant going to the labor office and asking them to make the amendment.

You are the company director, and think it us ok for you to write notes on your work permit?
Yeah, go ahead. Pencil in company director hamsum man. Make sure to use a marker similar to you...thick.
I meant going to the labor office and asking them to make the amendment. Thanks for your really useful reply.

Hi, I've had my work permit for 5 years but it doesn't state that I am a company director (which I now need for 12 month non-B). I have been a company director for 3 years. Do I need to apply for a new work permit or can I use the amendments page on my existing work permit to state that I am now a company director? Thanks.

The pound strengthened gradually for a month to over 50 and suddenly dived last night back to 47.5.....was this an error on Google Currency Coverter or is there an explanation? As I live and work in Thailand and send money back to my UK bank account this is good news for me but I realise it's bad for tourism which could affect my career in the long term. The pound / baht seems to fluctuate so much I think I'll negotiate my next contract in US dollar. Can't see the rate dropping much below 30.

Speaking for those who live, work, and earn Thai baht -
why have u had a pay rise??? unless you import or travel or change your currency you will not feel any effect. ie if you earn 50k baht every month, its still worth the same in thailand. no more no less. If a thai person earns 10k and spends it all in Thailand they are no better off.
I'm fortunate to work in Thailand and send about half my income back to the UK so I'm in the minority who benefit from a strong Baht. But I certainly sympathise with all those who suffer and think $1 to 33 Baht or GBP1 to 50 Baht is a fair and realistic rate. Of course if the Baht continues to strengthen then maybe my company will suffer and i will lose my job!

After you receive your new passport you will need to go to Immigration who will transfer your permission to stay/extension of stay/re-entry permit stamps (as appropriate) to your new passport.
Can this be done at Border Immigration, Ranong? Thanks.
