Many times in Thailand I have watched constructions go up and then see them remove the form work(Boxing) too soon.Wonder if this was the case here.

How sad I really loved that place,Any Photos yet of the damage? Where any other buildings affected?

I have observed on many flights out of Melbourne to wherever that people are opening their Duty free grog and drinking it on the flight. One time on a trip to Thailand with Jetstar 4 people were asking for cans and cans of coke to mix with their Vodka. They became very drunk & noisy and yet the cabin crew did not realise what they were doing. Even when it was pointed out to them they kept supplying coke to them.

I have had Tinnitus for years .One normally only lets it affect you when you are in a quiet room. Keep a radio going and you will soon stop you thinking about it. My Dr. recently requested a
brain scan to see if a tumour was causing the problem but it proved negative.
Best advice from me...learn to live with it..it won't go away any time soon. I have been told by all of the experts that there is no cure. Hope someone can prove me wrong.

Bit of an offbeat topic but does anyone know where the Mattel factory is in Thailand. Mattel make Matchbox, Hot Wheels and Barbie stuff. As a collector of mostly Matchbox (Which are now made in Thailand) I want to try and visit the factory when I next come there.

I remember many years back a Policeman telling me that the biggest criminals in the world all wear uniforms(police or whatever)

So how soon can we expect this boat to be back on the run to Koh Larn?
-
I am still trying to get my head around the fact that this guy is 60 yrs. old ,has been in Thailand for 30 years, seems to have plenty of money to throw around but is still working. Have been in a similar situation with a friend there and I told him straight up as to what his GF was up to when he wasn't in Thailand. He has not spoken to me for about 4 years but I know she has the 4 million baht home and the business. He lives in a tiny shack in Pattaya.

The Scarf. Great photos, clear and well taken. Many thanks from one who cannot be there right now. Brings back a lot of memories. Cheers Mate.

Every time I have been out to Koh larn I have just about had enough of the place by 3.pm so come back on the early ferry. last time I did this trip the ferry called in to one of the beaches and the operator of the boat ran over a mooring line which wrapped itself around the propeller and left us stranded for a couple of hours until another boat picked us up. Maybe when one purchases their ticket at the Bali Hi Pier office you should nominate a time of returning and if they kept records they would have more of an idea as to how many people are going to return on the last ferry. Just a thought.
-
Let's hope they leave this ferry where it is and not try and salvage it. Maybe a few more should join it , but without loss of life.
Hope they find the so called Skipper.

What Nationality is he? Does not sound like a Thai name.

Oh Pleeze! A lot of these young garbage Aussie and Brits only come to Thailand to attend these parties to get high and get wild......so knowing all these in advance...these garbage are asking for trouble. I would not spend a moment or any sympathy or help for garbage like these . I wonder what type of decent parents would allow their kids to come here for drogs, booze and sex parties.Besies these full moon parties, you have al ot of these garnage in Phuket, Pattay, Chiang mai and bangkok these days too.
If anything, the bloody thai authorities should ban all these full moon parties that are an invention of the Westerners in the first place.
Jeez what a nice human being you must be. Obviously never been to Thailand but mouthing off because you have heard something from other people. Personally I do not care what other people get up to in Thailand but it is great to come here and let you're hair down. In spite of everything that happens here it will always be No: 1 for most people.

After watching a Youtube video of a high speed train I came to the conclusion that it is not for Thailand.

What is it going to take to stop this carnage on the roads in Thailand, it just gets worse every day. Is it even safe to go anywhere on the motor bike or even as a pedestrian.
R.I.P.to sad victims.

I was on a Thai Flight from BK that had a bad landing at Melbourne a few years back. Blew out a tyre on landing and shattered a wheel. Melbourne Airport was closed to all traffic for a couple of hours whilst safety checks were carried out on the runway. Does anyone know if BK was closed after the event or still open to all operations?

Watched a You tube clip last night of the Bangkok - Chiang Mai o/night express. My god the rail line looked so old and decrepit. No wonder the trains are always going off the rails. A couple of years back I was on the train in Kanchanaburi doing the tour around the death rail & the old yellow diesel loco blew up. One of the Thai rail workers told me the locos came from Iran or one of the middle eastern countries.

That Welsh guy is big . I would only have 2 words to say to him "Yes Sir"

I am 70 yrs old and ride a big bike here in Melbourne. I have been riding since I was 14 yrs old.I drive carefully and try to avoid all the other idiots on the road. When I come to thailand i always rent a little 150 cc bike and I have the time of my life on them
They are fast enough and after all they are just a means of transport.saves using baht buses around Pattaya.

I was on a Thai flight from BK to Melbourne in October 2007 and the same thing happened. We were caught in a cross wind as the plane was about to touch down and the plane was blown sideways. The tyre burst on impact and the wheel was shredded.Cabin crew disappeared and were not seen until about 1 hour later.Credit to the Pilot though, a great landing.

Most travel agents here in Australia will always advise travel insurance. Their motto is "if you can afford the trip , you can afford the insurance". Couple of years ago a friend(72 yr old) with me in bangkok had a fall in the shower. Ended up in Bumrumgrad Hospital in bangkok for 25 days with a fractured spine. No Travel insurance. Cost him his entire life savings and some.Repat back to Melbourne was $35,000 which had to be paid up front. It was cheaper for him to stay in Hosp.
By the way that Hospital is like a 5 star Hotel. Just yesterday our newspapers were full of Thailand. The most dangerous place on earth for Australians to travel to. One Australian dies there every 4 days(Newspaper Quote.)

No way is he Australian...Austrian methinks...he has none of the characteristics of an Aussie. Then again I could be wrong.

Makes one wnder as to how many people are carrying guns in Pattaya...scary.Think I will keep away from soi 7 & 8.I normally stay in Soi 8..give it a miss.

So what they should be looking at is a Code of Practice for new buildings or venues being renovated to make sure it is done right. Then they need to look at Health and safety. It is fast becoming time Thailand introduced some safe practices ahead of the dollar factor.
Australia's Channel 9 goes undercover at the Full Moon Party to produce a damning report
in Koh Samui News
Posted
Just another biased report by Channel 9 without doing too much prior investigation.Have seen similar segments on their 60 minutes show about Pattaya, Phuket etc.
They picked out the worst people they could find and asked stupid questions. Saying it is worse than Bali is garbage. They are both the same, just different currency. Channel 9 can not
get anything right. They don't even televise my football team live in to Melbourne when they play here in Melbourne. They are so biased.
