In my experience, Bat guano can be a powerful force for good but it is possible to burn the bejeezus out of plants with it. Expect to love it, but slowly, slowly. Less caution required if growing outside.

Selling cures for insomnia must be least the third or fourth oldest profession.
Chronic insomnia can present itself overnight and outlast just about every non medical routine or remedy and many of the medical ones. Age is not a requirement.
I was surprised (not unpleasantly) to find a sleep medication prescribed in the Kingdom after surgery for a broken wrist.
Vax anti-vaxx argument everywhere still? Sweet Jesu, sure, that will do until the air gets thick enough to blame things on.

I've used social security direct deposit to Bangkok Bank and it's easy. It takes one or two cycles to appear but has worked smoothly.

I used the powdered form a few times legally in the USA for tension and insomnia. It was efficacious. No side effects. I did find the taste and smell terrible.

Pre pandemic I found Express VPN a very useful tool for China, especially where GMail was involved. ... didn't use it in Thailand but it surely would have served its purpose and have kept it on my laptop in the States..

A ticket out of the Kingdom is all you will need- I usually purchase one to Singapore, but no specific destination is required. It does not need to be a ticket home. That is a legitimate way to solve the problem in my experience.

Perfect! Thank you.

My small twist on the topic is that I'm assembling documents to apply for the O A from inside the USA, where I've been holed up since March. I've had several O extensions from within but timing seems good to get the O A in place.
I'm in no hurry to beat against the door at immigration until quarantines and airplanes ease up. If I am able to get the visa issued here, how long would I have to arrive in the Kingdom?

Your body is telling you things even the most well-intended forum poster cannot. See a doctor.

Go to Ram, explain symptoms, and ask for a neurologist. You need to be in a pipeline, whether Ram or Bumrungrad. Random visits aren't going to work in Thailand.

So many Westerners sound so cluelessly smug.
There's a huge history of animism writ into this ancient culture. Laugh at will. Ignorance ≠ wisdom.

Another reason to never go to these ghastly countries in the middle east. And come what may to never use their airlines.

Might take a look at EVA. It's well reviewed and usually well priced.
Ha... beat me to it while I was typing....

Several good recommendations above. Chiang Mai works well in two stages: 1. Find a nice habitable guest house on a weekly basis and 2. Use that time to wander and find a suitable extended stay. Chiang Mai seems to work best for friends in similar situations once their feet are on the ground here.

I had a thorough ultrasound on an infected leg yesterday at Ram for 1440 less a 20% discount.

I just took a tour of YouTube and the one that starts early and stays late near me is surely the Common Asian Koel.

I've visited Dental 4U for routine work since shortly after they opened in Chiang Mai and as recently as last week and have been very satisfied. Before that I made a few visits to other names mentioned on this topic. I was most disappointed by a pricey competitor and seeming expat favorite.
I did not pay attention to the names. I did have an extraction recommended by the Dental4U doctor done in the States, where they are much more generous with nitrous for that level of engagement, but have had everything else done here for quite some time and am still smiling.

I just extended and the photo background was white. The photo shop knew which background to use.

Thanks for the sensible recommendations.

I'll ask Thai friends to get on it.... any key names or words would be appreciated.

For the past few years friends and I have enjoyed the house band at Baan Rim Nan. The group we favored doesn't seem to be playing there now. If anyone can help shed light via post or pm, we'd like to track the group down for one of our holiday evenings out.

Unwittingly, I overstayed by two days last time. Discovered at the airport, 1000 for the overstay, and no big deal. Back this time on a visa exempt entry and no mention of the recent exit.

Sure, you can live on 65k these days. You probably can't die on it. Whether or not that's a comfort is up to you. No one else's metric really will apply to you.
That's not meant to be cold. Every day here is better than a day elsewhere if here is where you want to be.

I was pleased to find Uber in CM and have used it a half dozen times this week, including quite late at night. Rarely more than a 5-6 minute wait, although at 2am it took closer to 25-- still less than the hassle of finding a tuk tuk to take me to my home and less expensive even with the unsolicited tips I give. I may simply have been lucky or helped by good ratings. (Customers are rated just as drivers are and that information is available to the driver when a request is made).
None of the drivers I've had in CM (or elsewhere) to this point have been full-time, which very likely makes a difference. If the economics or novelty don't work it will disappear, of course.
Tonight will be an interesting test.

Discretion is generally valued in Thailand. There is no issue as long as you stay in the Kingdom.
