I have been reading this thread with interest.

I live in the UK but have assets in Thailand as we bought a property in Koh Samui as an investment.

We hope to be able to rent it when completed and would like to have a Bank Account in local currency where to deposit rental money and from which to withdraw money for expenses etc.

Does anybody know if there is any Thai Bank which will allow the opening of an online account for someone in my position?

I frequently walk up the new road that was built and over the top into Bohput. For exercise. Derelict is one word I would use to call it.

There is no sign of anything going on at all. Having said that, the other day a local on his bike was right up the top of the road gathering dead vegetation. I think he was more surprised to see me than me him! There are zillions of acres to clear so he has got his work cut out for him!

So, if he is single-handedly building the project, I think it is fair to say that we may have to wait some more time.

The news I recently heard is that the developer run into funding difficulties and the whole project is to be scrapped!

We have bought a villa in Koh Samui which will be completed soon.

Hoping to rent it although we understand the rental market is quite depressed at present.

It would make sense to have a bank account in THB, where to deposit money and from where to withdraw money to pay ongoing expenses.

Is it possible for non-Thai nationals not residing in Thailand to open a Bank Account in the country?
