Toyota Threatens to Pull Some Investment From Thailand if Unrest Escalates

Toyota (TM) is reportedly considering pulling its close to $610 million planned investment in Thailand if the country fails to stymie escalating anti-government tensions that have weighed heavily on its economy. The largest automaker in Thailand even threatened to cut production if the unrest continues, according to a report by Reuters, citing Kyoichi Tanada, president of Toyota’s Thai unit.

I fail to see the point in quoting the Toyota threat, as this was reported back in January, I'm sure their stance has changed since the coup.

  2. This airport location is horrible. There is no decent public transportation to Don Mueang. Every time I have to pay 400Baht for taxi one way, two ways 800Baht. Since before I could just pay 40Baht + 30Baht to take a taxi and then the Airport link to Suwannabhumi.

Now the airlines still charge the same price, and we the mules have to pay 10 times more for transportation. What's the point? just to make Airasia more rich by paying less to park it's airplanes.

They only care about Airlines reducing costs, but forgot about the population. Shame.

If your travelling between Don Mueang and Suwannbhumi, use the shuttle bus, it runs every 30 mins, it air conditioned, you can't get scammed and it's free!

  3. I'd always been told that asbestos roofing where the asbestos is encapsulated in cement was 'safe' so long as you didn't cut it or otherwise generate dust.

It would appear however that as these roofs deteriorate they could let fibres into the environment :)

As an aside, we used to live near the Turners asbestos factory in Bickershaw, IIRC they went out of business when the place burned down.

That's ironic... An asbestos factory burning down!
