  1. whistling.gif Yes easy enough, as long as you're referring to the connect points from the local in-country internet to the international internet access points.

Doing that properly would cut Thailand off from access to the rest of the world as far as the internet was concerned.

Blocking the internet totally in Thailand would be difficult today, but with some determination and the time/people to enforce it, much of the service providers could be shut down. That would severely hurt if not stop the internet.

In Kuwait, when the Iraqis invaded Kuwait the U.S kept the Kuwaiti phone system running until the actual U.S. forces started moving into Kuwait.

Once the invasion started and U.S troops were headed into Kuwait, the U.S. closed down most of the Kuwaiti telephone system. It was a "computer based digital phone system".

So is the internet, and computer based systems depend on computer servers being available to route packets, don't they?

How well would that system work with no servers?

Or a DDOS attack (Dedicated Denial Of Service) .... in which phony messages would swamp and overload all the distribution servers?

DDOS = Distributed denial of service

  2. There arent many educational institutions in thailand that will higher the upper aged job seekers. They want younger more active teachers. It is however more possible to get a job if u r not in bkk. Demand for teachers in the rural areas is higher as pay and convenience of goods and activities is lower. And i must semi agree with the previous comment. Posting on a public forum looking for a teqching position in very poor and difficult form of english is not best way to get referals, recommendations, or any other response in ur favor here. Maybe a thought or two about writing ur post in a better fashion in terms of grammar and punctuation next time may leave a better taste in others readers' mouths when it comes to hoping for teaching opportunities.

Perhaps you should check your own spelling, grammar and `text speak', before berating others on their postings?

  3. There's other example. I'm aware of about 5 students from well regarded Vietnamese universities being denied visas to take up exchange programs, one semester, at Thai universities (already approved for acceptance by the Thai unis.)

These are MBA students, all in good employment in Vietnam, all speak advanced English, all with good progress results so far in their studies, all with full sponsorships from their employers.

And with a refusal to give any details of why they were not approved.

The students were probably found to be too intelligent and over qualified to study at what we laughingly refer to as a Thai university.

  4. There are some right miserable curmugeons posting on this thread. If you wanted laws for this and laws for that, you should have stayed at home. Personally, i don't have much of a problem woth kids tweaking their mopeds and racing them for fun. Hell, boys have been doing its like since mankind first put an engine on wheels. Half the pop songs of our childhood were themed on the very topic...

Yep. Just so long as its not outside your house, keeping you and your kids awake or endangering any of your family eh?

  5. I had an assasin's weapon for years. A custom made silenced long barrelled, 22 caliber 10 shot automatic target piston with laser sights.

Place the little red dot and there the bullet would go.

Don't ask how I came to have it, but I never carried it on operations and never killed anyone.

Banning guns? In Thailand? Are you Australian? Have you swallowed the lie? Politically correct to the enth

And I suppose you went by the code name 007!

Too many Walter Mitty types on this forum!

  6. This is not a Thai thing - it happens in virtually every city on the planet.

It does get worse. Go to any city in the US or Europe, and you will find restaurant owners who place tables and chairs right on the footpath, and if that is not enough, then they remove the traffic cones they have placed in the street to block parkers and put more tables and chairs there.

    Absolute rubbish !!!

Google "restaurant blocking sidewalk dispute" and "argument over parking space" and you will find hundreds, if not thousands of examples from all over Europe and the US where incidents similar to those I described occurred an in many cases led to violence.

I have seen it in several dozen places in Asia, Europe, the US, and Canada.

Google is DEFINITELY your friend isn`t it???

  7. dont forget the average per day,, at year end is about 30 a day,,, so we are only a little of over double from normal,,, if you are a farong living here and you dont like this,,, there is an airport, to take you back to where ever you come from,,, either accept it or get the xxx out.. but please dont cry i am personally so wet with tears from farong

Let`s see how wet you are with tears when one of your family gets killed by the stupidity of Thai drivers; you prick!

  8. “The boat captain believes that the woman’s spirit communicated with him,” Capt Weerachart explained.

It would be funny if the story was not so sad. RIP ... sad.png.pagespeed.ce.5zxzyGiJz0.png

If you think that's funny you have no understanding of Thai culture.

    RIP.

Reading the op I think you will find it was Taiwanese captain even!

Posters who have no understanding of reality - the essence of a person never dies and can oversee this world - taught essentially the same in all religions - read your Bible, Koran, GuruGranth Sahib, Buddhist or Hindu scriptures.

Errrrrmmm, I think its people like you that have no understanding of reality!! Why on earth would anyoner want to read, and even worse, believe in, books full of fairy stories!

  9. Lived in Thailand for over 20 years. Never saw the violence which is reported now when I first came here.

Thais seems angry and out-of -control. Why?

The rampant drug abuse? The failure of the family? No jobs, no hope to make a life? You tell me. All factors, I suppose.

Thought Pattaya was declining into a lawless town. Pattaya has murders, rapes, and other violent crimes, day-after-day. Some murders are described as "suicides". Thailand has become "Suicide Heaven". Or a "Heaven" for wives/husbands or hit-men who want to throw their target off of a balcony.

Take a look at pattayadailynews.com for the realtiy of what is going on in Pattaya. A website that reports honest news.

In the States, I never went out of my office or home without my carrying my Walther PPK.

Now I don't got out in Thailand without being armed.

Anyone tries a kidnapping, assault, or attempted murder - I will respond with my firearm. And the cops can scrape them off the sidewalk.

Thailand is no longer a safe place to live or vacation.

Thais are not nice people anymore like they were 20 years ago. Thais have become "East LA Hoods".

Walk around in Bangkok, Pattaya or whereever. Be careful and be very aware that your life is in danger.

Take precautions if you can. If you can't, you are definitely in harms way.

I will make a guess that Charles Bronson's Death Wish movie is you favorite. I would be no less cautious or wary of you than I would be of any other street thug with gun.

No, no surely with a Walter (misspelling intentional) PPK favourite movie must be any of the James Bond series!

  10. How is Cha-am affected by the flood?

Not too badly at the moment. We`ve had very heavy rain for the past 3 days (and nights) but surprisingly, the drainage system seems to have coped very well! It`s just stopped raining about 2 miniutes ago, but the skies still look very sullen and I think we`ll get some more soon.
