I think this match can be summarized with this picture: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yaUmgkS5P-w/TDpBZXkkFEI/AAAAAAAAE9o/rfhtYZzxuV8/s1600/_48321583_009786478-1.jpg

Spain. But I'm Spanish so I may be a bit biased <div><br></div><div>Anyway, any Spaniards reading this topic? Any good place in BKK to watch the final?<br><div><br></div><div><br></div></div>

Actually, you can buy the iPad today at MBK (3G 64GB) for 34.000 baths.
-
Thanks for that. I will go tomorrow around 10am. If you plan to buy one tomorrow, send me a PM. Maybe we can get the price down a bit more if we buy a few. Also applies to other board members.
I was there today again to buy one, but I was a bit shocked: the price went down (within a few days since the last post) 2,000 bahts. Now 35,000 seems to be the usual price for a 64GB 3G iPad. I asked at a small shop, smiling, to please give the *final* price, and the seller asked for 34,500 also smiling.
I found this place: "Atomic", B23 (there are more with the same name, the one I reference is at "B23", I don't know if the rest are the same) who asked directly for 35K bahts. No need to bargain. Phone 08-666-222-19 / 08-1310-4503. Good atmosphere there. Anyway 35K seems to be the standard price now.
But if we wait 4 days more will it be 33K bahts? 8 days 31K? Weird...
If you are going to buy it there I'll be happy to buy it with you.If I'm able to buy it with AMEX for the same price, that'd be great (I don't feel very comfortable paying in cash in MBK and I like AMEX).

It seems that I'll have to delay my trip until tomorrow. In the meanwhile, please let me know where to get it at 37K. (name, floor, shop) and I'll go and pick one up (maybe more).
Tha name is "Bingo mobile". 4th floor. Phond numbers: 081 8509928 / 081 4410364
I didn't buy it that day, but I'll go there again today. I wonder if I can bargain the price down. 7,000 bahts over the real price its a bit too much.

And the Cuban ambassador as vicepresident. A match made in heaven!
-
Thanks for the replies. I was there yesterday: 37000 bahts 3G 64GB
-
I had my Thai staff go around there to ensure no "farang" surcharge and that's the average price came up with.
Strange indeed that it can be cheaper in Phuket.
I'm so tired of the farang tax...
-
Does anyone know the current price today at MBK for an iPad 64GB 3G? Is it possible to bargain the price? Somehow paying 8000 bahts more than the USA its a bit overpriced...
Thanks in advance!

I feel really ashamed: I've been reading The Nation and Bangkok Post for all this time. No more. Sorry. I understand we live in a country without freedom of speech, but this is too much for me.
Amazed. Ashamed...
Take care.

Hysterical, heavily biased nonsense - just another day at the office for the Nation writers. This is not journalism.
Yes... It's sad. But they must do that: it's a business after all and this is Thailand.
-
NO...surely not this can not be true....only Thaksin does things like this. Just ask all the farang redshirt experts...
My thoughts, exactly
-
This one was really good
If you don't mind, I'm going to put a link to this thread and a translated version to Spanish in my blog.
Best regards,
Juan

I've been reading those posts as well as others I found. It's clear that the problem it's the router so I contacted True. They were very kind, but unable to help. Also, other people in the forum stated that they just gave up and bought a new router.
Did anyone manage to fix the router?
Thanks in advance,
Juan

Thanks for the info. I usually search for previous posts but this time I forgot to do it. I guess I thought it was too weird to have happened to other people.

Hi,
I started using True Internet a few weeks ago and now, every time I want to edit a page in my blog when I click the button 'update', it sends me to the url "landing.trueinternet.co.th" that then redirects me to 'http://minihome.truelife.com/welcometrue/'
If I just close my laptop, move to a McDonalds and open it again, it works without problems. So the problem is clearly with True. This also happens sometimes with other 'post' buttons.
Did you face this problem before? It's really, really strange.
Thanks in advance,
Juan @ Bangkok

Thanks for the info. I'll visit them this weekend. It's strange, but it seems to find bookshops for farangs than for Thais

This kind of news really saddens me. Obama refused to receive the Dalai Lama before visiting China. Then he refused to receive him in the Oval Office.
Now Thailand refuses to receive him. I thought the Dalai Lama was a respected pacifist figure within the Buddhist world. And Thailand is deeply Buddhist...
I respect the economic point of view, but we are walking in the wrong direction...

Hi,
I was looking for some (big) Thai bookshop in Bangkok. Most of the ones I found are extremely small (and I don't know if it was just chance, but apparently targeted at women).
Do you know if is there any library like Kinokuniya in Siam Paragon but in Thai?
Thanks!

They gave me the router the same day I signed up. It's strange because they don't have my bank account number, credit card, etc, just my passport data.
I don't have a landline here: they are suppose to come here and install everything.
-
Just for the technician to install the landline and turn on the service (I live in a big condo so that should be pretty simple for them - the installation is already here).
When I signed up for True they gave me a router and the famous card with the long PIN number. I must wait for 6 days aprox. for them to send someone here. I'm using their free 3G connection while waiting.
-
jfchandler, thank you for your reply. I'll wait then.
I got a card with a long PIN number and a SMS asking me register at truelife.com (btw, I still don't know what that web is exactly for) to get "added value services" so I thought that wifi were among them.
-
Hi,
I applied two days ago for True Internet. I got the router and the scratch card with a long PIN number. Do you know if I can use the Wifi hotspots that were included in the package? Or must I wait for the ADSL installation?
Also, what do you do with that True Online PIN number? The English True Corp web is half in Thai, half in English with some broken links. Anyone using this company can provide some light her?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Since it's close to impossible to find a job in Thailand with a western salary, I'm going to work in an old dream of mine of developing a web site for a niche market that I think has a future. I estimate it'll take around 6 months.
Now, this allows me to work from home anywhere, and that's where your help would be truly appreciated. I've been in Thailand for 7 months now but I only know Bangkok and Ko Samed. I really loved the peaceful days in Ko Samed but was told there were better places.
Also, since Bangkok is relatively expensive, moving out will allow me to save some money now that I'm not working.
If I can't find anything, I'll stick to what I know I guess and that means a study in The Trendy condo in Sukhumvit 13 (it was the first condo I saw in Thailand somehow I felt in love with it)
So this is the question: if you were to work from home, and the only thing you need is a studio, a work desk and a reasonably fast internet connection, where would you live in Thailand? The thing I value most is a peaceful place. The second thing -but far from the first- is some kind of night life to keep sanity while working alone.
Really, any kind of comments would be really welcome.
Best regards,
Juan

I think you are completely right. And in Spain few people will doubt it I think.
I don't think "people hate each other". In fact, I never found a person in A (be it Madrid or Catalonia) hating a person on B just because of that fact. Never at all (and, not trying to be offensive, but it'd be really childish to do it) Lately (last decades) it has become more and more a political power struggle where each part tries to gain / retain power. Nationalism is a powerful way to get votes. Catalonia is not the only region in Europe doing this. Will we see two Belgiums? Scotland independent? Is Baviera on his way too? I don't know the situation in Germany, but somehow every time I hear about the Autonomous Communities in Spain I wonder how is the political situation in the german Länders.
I think Madrid pays the biggest share in Spain taxes, with much of that money being sent to Andalucia (south of Spain). No one is complaining about that though.
I wish this victory could improve the situation, but I don't see any connections with it at all…
Anyway, this was a thread about the match. I'm happy that Spain won it, but I agree with other posters that it was rather boring. Also some times you didn't know if there were trying to score a goal or an ippon.
