  1. The thing is the "Thai Huggers" will come out in force and say 'its April fools day" but we are in a country where this is probably a true story!

Hey we use dogs in the fight in afghan against terrorists, sniffing out bombs and generally useful as muslims are scared of dogs (any muslims here like to explain why??) i think they are just trying to copy but same same different, fools!!! ha ha

They are not afraid of dogs. Dogs are considered dirty(Najis). But having said that, many Muslims keep dogs as pets.

Ok dirty but why????? most of the thai muslims i know keep dogs to protect property not as pet, they dont even feed them and wonder why they die. Many muslims drink beer and eat bacon, just go to koh lanta and see for yourself

Ive heard a few reasons why they are considered dirty but would like to hear from another muslim

  2. Sweden is like Switzerland. They like neutrality. They have no backbone. Look how they cooperated with the Nazis and you get the picture.

Yes and look how thailand cooperated with the japanese in WWII and the yanks during vietnam war, you are obviously thai or old farang with young thai girl, maybe you need to learn about your own country

  3. So up to now nobody has respected the Thai FM when they have asked that Thaksin be asked to leave a country, Sweden, Dubai, Cambodia, Montenegro.

Er....UK?? but then the UK always makes more effort for other countries than it does for its own citizens.

Don't edit my posts please, it is against forum rules, please quote the full post, thanks.

That said yes the UK does make more effort for other countries. The UK revoked his visa but not at the request of Thailand. I am sure if he had bothered to fight it as a political charge he would have stayed in the UK, such as Pinochet did.

I think it was more to do with the FA than the uk government, he was a football fans joke over here, trying to tell mark hughes about football, The FA wanted to look into if he was fit and proper to own a uk football team. As far as i know thailand made no request for us to kick him out

  4. We'll see where his next call in come from.

Maybe they have asked him to shut up, but the endless "Thaksin has been banned from Dubai" stories emanating from the THAI side are pathetic. If that is the case why doesn't he do a Radio Caroline and drive a boat out into the water off the coast of Dubai?

It makes the Foreign Ministry look extremely stupid.

Does it makes the Foreign Ministry look extremely stupid? No.

It only make the Swedish look extremely stupid for protecting a known criminal.

DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE FINNISH, and LM.

To answer your question, yes it makes the foreign ministry look stupid. A little research before laying down the law to other countries should be done, if this had happened then the FM would not have egg on its face AGAIN. The sooner that Thailand realizes it's place in the pecking order and lack of importance to other countries the better for Thailand, they are not in the position to lay down laws or ultimatums to ANY country as any sanctions enforced by Thailand against another would not even be noticed.

Sweden are following their laws and the laws of the EU, and as they say of the request was made in writing it could have been discussed, but Somchai telephoning them and whining down the phone about the Satan aka Thaksin would have just been laughed off by the Swedes, and rightly so.

Who was it let thaksin leave thailand to go to the china olympics???????

stop fuc_king blaming other countries, first uk, then dubai, cambodia, sweden, where does it end, if thailand really wanted thaksin back he would be by now. You are a bunch of fools thai government

  5. The thing is the "Thai Huggers" will come out in force and say 'its April fools day" but we are in a country where this is probably a true story!

  6. Not nice , but not a big problem. As to get contaminated, blood needs to get into the bloodstream, e.g, by transfusion. Having a cut and suchlike then the blood flows outwards.

As somebody that has worked for doctor did you know you can actually catch Hep B from kissing??

its very very contagious alot more than HIV and is the first thing rape victims etc.. get checked for by police/doctor, so peeps maybe you should all get a check up soon!!!

  7. I stopped reading the article after it said #2 after Swampy. What happened to Phuket and Chiang Mai airports? OIC, not BK Air owned like Samui, don't count I guess. What's next Ko Chang #3

Samui dont make me laugh, 4500 baht one way to bkk, why when you can get ferry to suranthani and fly airasia to bkk total cost 1500-2000

small run way, not safe due to built like in a valley, small, april fools joke right????

  8. This guy has been reading and posting on TV hasn't he. I'm sure I've seen most of those comments before.

This one was my favorite though.

The mainstream media is quick to characterise the red-shirt protesters as being violence prone, though funnily enough it said very little about the violence generated by the 2006 coup that ousted Thaksin or the shutting down of the Suvarnabhumi Airport in 2008.

I don't remember ANY violence during the coup or the airport takover.

Seizure of an international airport is not only violent but terrorism, i know of farang families stuck at airport absolutely scared, not knowing what going on and how they are getting back to their families. Also none have received compensation as far as i know. Also i seem to remember seeing a thai buddhist monk wearing yellow fighting in street , this was shown on bbc so wise up my friend

  9. I think she is just trying it on, tell her to contact your insurance company and not to contact you again. If the police want you they will send for you.

In accidents like this there are two levels. 1st is the police, legal, aspects of it and 2nd is the civil part which she is trying out on you. As said, have the insurance guy deal with her.

Tell the greedy bitch to fuc_k off

  10. Farang are just a niche market!

Come on! You can't mean that! Foreign tourists, not just Farangs, but Koreans, Japanese etc etc bring money into the country to boost the economy. Thai tourists do not improve the economy at all. They have their money and spend it in Thailand, it makes no difference to the econimy if they spend it in hotels in Bangkok, bars in Nana, or on the beach in Samui, it is Thai money spent in Thailand. It brings nothing into the country.

The mediacl tourism industry alone brings in many many billions of Bt. Expats, those who are not working bring in a fortine every year. Just one expat pensioner spending one million Bt per year is a valuable asset, think how many Thai shopkeepers, etc, make a living because of just one pensioner.

Plus, the expat with a Thai wife, who builds a business, catering for foreigners helps tourists spend their money, in Thailand and adds to the economy.

Fortunately the government don't think like that. Free visas, the establishment of TAT etc shows that at least they know tourists are valuable.

They even blamed the drop in beer sales on red shirts, this is how stupid they really are, drop in tourism, drop in beer sales!!! doesnt take an economic genious or sherlock to work that out , fools

  11. Thanks Tigerfish :) That is one of my favourite programs...'Faulty Towers'/Watery towels etc.

I particularly liked Mr Cleese in all of the old Monty Python series, as well as a peculiar movie called 'Clockwise'. It's a shame that Thailand has been so isolated from such humour.

Hey i got the whole faulty towers dvd set copy in thailand!!! oh and also hustle which is sometimes pretty funny

  12. I think people just dont understand it, especially thais and yanks, found kiwi's and most canadians and the odd aussie to understand it.

Now come on we have only fools and horses, red dwarf, men behaving badly, young ones etc.. etc..

My ex thai girlfriend loved the old norman wisdom films , laughed alot more than at these new american comedy chick flicks!!

  13. As a teacher you will not earn much more.

Whilst I was there at Christmas I met a guy, who I am still in contact with, who earns 45k a month.

The Uk is slowly falling apart, jobs are scarce. There is nothing wrong with someone wanting to change their career at any age.

I guess I just wrote my original post to say Hi and introduce myself. I know that meeting people is not easy when you first move abroad and my friend told me about meetings you lot have.

p.s thailand is falling apart mate, do you watch the news??? a certain HM is old now so things will get worse in future in thailand believe me!!! do you know most thais are taught at school not too trust farang and you want to be a teacher there

45k a month, wow, do people actually get out of bed for that?

Must be another teacher, the blind leading the blind.

  14. > Something doesn't feel right. I can't put my finger on it.... Anyway, I am due to surprise her on Monday with a visit

    > when I intend to ask for her hand in marriage...

Ok.. something doesn't feel right, so you're going to propose to her? :) And, at 33 years of age you're going to pursue a teaching career and move to Thailand?

I'm not usually overly suspicious or paranoid of posts, but I really struggle to find any of this sensible, or even likely.

I have many friends that work as teachers in bkk but none earn anything near 45k, also its not easy as thais dont want to learn, you are not allowed to teach and help them question things. You also have to lie about things like thai history - its not easy mate!! maybe you can lay bricks for 300 baht a day!!!

  15. How long have you actually stayed with her ( i mean was it just 2 weeks each time or what)

remember most of thai girls are kind and sweet when you first meet them but once they get their claws in they change - not all do so hope you found good one but asking her to marry you already??? are you mad???

p.s - I can live on koh samui for 500quid a month and party (including paying 100quid rent a month) so maybe you need think hard mate!!! - thats around 26,000 baht month now!!

Also a good one is call her around 10-11pm thai time, if she is on the game you will hear music, giggling etc... if she at home even in bkk will not be so noisy!!!

    chok dee

Hi, I have spent a good 8 weeks 24/7 with her.

I can ask her to marry me now but I'm not going to marry for a while. She might not have me!!

I speak to her at 5.30 my time everyday, not far off that now, and it is always quiet. I have no reason to think she is 'on the game' as you put it. Why would I? Not all Thai girls are you know.

She did work in Nana hotel, but not the big one, in the little one at the other end, I don't think it has anything to do with big one.

26k a month doesn't seem a lot. I hope to earn a lot more then that!!

sorry i didnt just mean on the game but could be out partying!! Try changing the time abit when you call, like hour earlier and later thais are shit with change!!!

Hey mate 26k a month in thailand is alot considering most get around 8000 a month!!

8 whole weeks, would you propose to an english girl you know that long/short and dont know where lives or if can trust????

Also how do you know other men dont send her money every month?? Hey i lived in thai a long while and have seen it all and had my heart broken by a goodish one after over 3 years so its hard..

Forget proposing and try living with her for 6 months solid, believe me they really think different to us , sometimes scary shit!! then think about proposing - good luck and maybe you should read private dancer!!!

  16. How long have you actually stayed with her ( i mean was it just 2 weeks each time or what)

  17. Dick, you may as well give up. This person evidently knows it all. I assume that most was learnt leaning over a bar in Bangkok chatting to other farangs with Bangkok Thai friends who have hardly ever seen a rice field. I wonder if jd knows that the CURRENT Deputy Prime Minister is known by most Thais to be a senior Mafia leader????

I wonder too if he knows that Thaksin actually DID help the peoples of the North and North East, and whether they received support money or not, they still have good reason to believe in him. Many of them even have University degrees now that he was able to override the revolting Thai elite for long enough. They can afford health care and their villages have found other means of making a livelihood outside of the Opium industry that FARANGS created to control Asia. Oh, I wonder what happened to Thailand's IMF debt???? Stop the BS, the power of the elite will fall in time, regardless of the attempts to corrupt truth. If not, the result is simple, 'the rich get richer and the poor get poorer'.

BTW, I would join the protests myself, if I was not threatened by the current Fascist government with a huge fine and cancellation of my work permit... !

I asked Dick a few pages ago, and still no answer, so I will ask you and Dick again:

*Why* do you (and Dick's girlfriend) want to go to the protests? What does she/you think the protests are for?

I read somewhere that Thaksin paid off the IMF debt by borrowing off Singapore. Can anyone confirm that?

How DID Thaksin help the poor in the North and North East? What did he actually do in his 5 years as PM?

Was it just cash handouts, and loans that they couldn't pay back?

I don't think I have seen much posted on TV that actually explains anything good that he did, except for the 30-baht health-care ... and that apparently caused the level of care to drop.

So any information would be really useful for me to get an unbiased view of things.

Otherwise, I'll just need to keep being biased against Thaksin.

election, yellow shirt thugs ie kasit get arrested for taking over airport - terrorism, abhisit arrested for accepting illegal ivory as a gift - plain fuc_king stupid and ignorant, pad are generally racist and xenophobic, at least thaksin knew problems in thailand were due to thai people not farang or bird flu etc.... etc...

  18. without a doubt thailand is getting too expensive, heard many people moaning including locals.

after going to thailand after langkawi in malaysia you really see the difference, thailand is expensive and you get all the rip off and scams which you dont get in langkawi.

  19. Bring me any red shirt able to prove he/she knows Exim is not an exotic dish and Temasek a DIY brand and I will start to listen to him/her.

Until then, I just see them as manipulated folks serving the cause of a greedy, dictator-to-be billionaire on the run. They simply do not understand the game they are used for.

My factory staff is tuned all day long on a red shirts radio. Speechs would make you feel like you were listening to a Rwandese radio days before it went ugly.

Not good to insult the people.

By the way, when we, French, made the revolution in 1789, I'm pretty sure that some wise men like you told "the populace will never be able to manage the country". But we did! With difficulties yes but France is now a proud country with a stable government.

Same in USA when they expelled the British.

    France a proud nation, haha

Without the allies you would all be Germans

But since you only refer to 1700's and not 1900's

I can see how you relate to Thaksin Napoleon Shina-part

Two alleged great leaders spending their greying days

    in exile

You would all be speaking german if it wasnt for us brits and yanks and yes thailand that includes you as i doubt japan would have been around long

  20. This is something I've thought about too, so here is a serious non-flame answer:

When I first retired, I tried living in Pattaya. It didn't work out. Now I live in Australia and pop over to LOS whenever I feel like it. I think I get the best of both worlds this way: the non stop party of Pattaya and the boring sanity of Melbourne.

Here is my list of reasons to live in Australia:

    - COST OF LIVING

Since 2002 I've kept careful records of every cent of my expenditure on excel spreadsheets. Crunching the numbers, I find it is cheaper for me to live in Australia. And this is at a higher standard of western style living than I could have in Pattaya.

When I turn 65, Australia will become even cheaper for me. I will get the Aged Pension and concessions on utility bills, public transport, pharmacy, etc.

In Australia, we have universal free health care. The two times I've been hospitalized here (for serious burns and for a growth inside my nose) it was totally free. A visit to the doctor here costs about $25 after the medicare rebate. For elective surgery and dentistry which aren't covered by Medicare, I pop over to Thailand where treatment is cheaper than Australia, and possibly better.

    - UTILITIES (In Australian Dollars).

What I pay in Australia (for one person living alone) :

Water is about $24 per quarter

electricity is about $200 per quarter

ADSL2 internet with free landline rental and landline calls is about $90 per month

Rent of one bedroom flat about 5 km from the city centre = $782/month.

    - INTERNET ACCESS

Australia has a reliable, though not superfast internet.I trade the ASX and forex online as a hobby, so this is important to me.

    - FOOD

In Australia it is easier to buy and prepare my own meals - mainly fresh, clean salads and fruit. Western foods are cheaper here.

    - PUBLIC TRANSPORT

I got rid of my car as soon as I retired. I now use public transport. The City Circle tram does the same sort of route as the Pattaya baht bus, only it's free. (But it is only 10am to 6pm). An all day metcard for train/bus/tram is $6.80 for about a 10km range around Melbourne.

Melbournians complain about their public transport, but this is mainly people who have to use it in the morning and evening rush hour to get to work.

    - CLEAN STREETS

There are areas of Melbourne that are absolutely filthy. But there are no stray dogs. There are a few beggars but they are usually druggies sitting on city footpaths with cardboard signs. They aren't limbless cripples or mothers with babies. There are no wandering vendors or Indian tailors to hassle you.

    - CRIME AND VIOLENCE

There is increasing crime and violence in Melbourne. But I've lived here since 1980 and I have never been assaulted or even threatened. My flat was burgled once in 1992. The police here are a bit weak - they are reactive, not proactive, which I think is wrong and I think it is why we are seeing the increasing bashings in Melbourne.

    - CORRUPTION

There is minor corruption involving police and politicians in Melbourne but it doesn't affect normal folk. In Melbourne I don't have to worry about police stopping me for 'tea money' or setting me up in a scam.

    - CONSUMER RIGHTS

If you are dudded here, you can complain and get compensated.

    - QUIET

For a day or two after a trip to LOS, I think there is something wrong with my hearing because it seems so quiet back in Melbourne.

    - NO VISA REQUIREMENTS

I have an Australian passport, so obviously I can live in Australia forever without stuffing around with Immigration.

    NO SCAMS NO SCAMS!!!

Uk - treated like human beings and not beach dogs is best thing

Quality of food and generally everything better in UK and now prices are not too different!!!

A kilo of meat is cheaper in tesco uk than in thailand

Its a whole lot safer on roads, airports, renting cars etc.. not always looking over your shoulder, being on your guard for scammers, a smile means a smile not Fake. We try to repect other cultures where as thailand just steals them and calls them their own. NHS - free medical treatment.

I feel alot happier back in Uk but doesnt mean i want to stay here

We get alot more tourists than thailand as does australia and spain , enough said!!!

  21. Some friends of mine have never been to Thailand and asked for recommendations on where to go. I told them that I'd heard Phuket was nice. After reading all that I have on Thaivisa, I can no longer suggest Phuket to anyone.

And one by one, Thailand slowly kills it's own tourist industry.

I expect lonely planet and just about any other tourism guide will have warnings about tuktuks in the next few months. Stories like this travel far too quickly.

IN MY VIEW NOT QUICK ENOUGH!!! I'm afraid this is the only way thais will understand, we have been fighting to stop animal cruelty in thailand for years, its a joke considering they call themselves buddhists, the only way to stop them is too warn tourists not to go to these monkey schools, zoos , elephant rides etc... PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS, SAME WITH TUK TUKS, TAXIS, KING POWER, HOTELS ETC.....

Cant imagine the problems people like UN etc.. have re HUMAN RIGHTS in thailand , its like talking to 4 year old or an alien from another planet and they call us aliens
