  1. Dear All,

I am moving to a new house and wanted to set up a large satellite dish on my house (I used JSAT a few years ago and it was great but I think they do not sell satellite dishes anymore). The reason for the large dish is to get all the free-to-air Chinese channels we can get in Bangkok.

Anyone would know of a supplier of large satellite dish? It does not have to be moveable. I checked PSI and it seems that they do not have any.

    Thank you for your help,

    GJ

  2. Yes, I am a bit of an idiot.

I did buy a top-of-the-line Chevy Captiva (benzine version) 11 months ago and probably made my biggest car-related mistake I eve did (even though I was warned by similar experiences on this forum, silly me!)

In its 11 months "life", the car was 8 times back to the garage for "repair" (basically it was broken since day 1). Basically they had to change breaks 2 times (I am talking about the entire breaking system - front wheels), steering wheel and the axis (front) - they gave me the broken one to see), they had to fix the back door, the trunk (was doing a squeaky sound every time I was on a speed bump), the GPS (3 times). The car interior was also falling apart, vibrating like crazy as soon as I was hitting 100km/h.

I just got back my car 2 weeks ago after spending 3 weeks at the main garage center (they of course did not give me a replacement car). They returned the car with a big scratch on the side / back (they did acknowledged they did it), empty tank, and still problems with breaks (they just don't work properly) and terrible squeaky sound when turning the steering wheel etc... basically they did not fix it but made it worse

Yes, probably my car was a lemon but at 1.5mio, I was expecting better.

I am selling it and learned my lesson, will never buy a daewoo-type of car again.

    Not happy,

    GJ

  3. Yes, the 550min should be for the wife, I do not really need them but my wife should be able to use them on her iphone.

OK, so you swap this SIM between your iPad and your wife's iPhone. How convenient is that?

Well it works! The package with minutes included is too good to pass. The wife is happy and so am I.

By the way, I am floored by how fast 4G is. I was in London a couple of weeks back for business, and the best 3G I was getting with the local SIM card from Virgin mobile was 2 Mbps/s.... so slow!

    Finally real speed in Thailand!

  4. I am using my new IPAD AIR with a 4G sim from TrueMove-H, I got the new 72GB promotion

So you have the Jumbo 999 plan? That comes with 550 voice minutes each month; can you even use those with an iPad? And the 6 GB of data (months 1 - 12; 3 GB for months 13 - onward) does have a FuP of 128 Kbps, so at that speed (60 Mbps) it might not take too long until you hit your FuP?

You can get a straight up 5 GB of 4G data only for 899.

Correct, 6GB is good enough for me, and my understanding is that I can change package after 12 months.

Yes, the 550min should be for the wife, I do not really need them but my wife should be able to use them on her iphone.

  5. I don't know how you guys get those figures for 4g.... Sent from my GT-N5100

I'm not certain your Note 8 is LTE Band 1 compatible, so expecting 4G, assuming you've subscribed to a post-paid 4G/LTE plan, is reasonable?

eThere is a Note 3 LTE variant, and a NExus 7 LTE variant which would work on TrueMove H LTE, among other models.

5 ~ 10 Mbps on 3G is impressive, and probably satisfies most mobile data requirements and applications?

I am using my new IPAD AIR with a 4G sim from TrueMove-H, I got the new 72GB promotion (http://truemoveh.truecorp.co.th/campaign/entry/2994), so I have enough to play around! I confirm coverage in Bangna area, I tested it from KM 20 until Sukhumvit 64 (sorry did not have time to go further).

Speed is insane, I am getting 66 MBps on download!

    Now THIS is speed!

  6. When it comes to simple answer that you can't give, you simply avoid eh?

Anyway as I promised, I won't argue superior Truemove with you as I can't break somebody's never-seen love against a service provider. Hope your stocks in true corp doing well. I'll keep using true online + truemove-h that should help (a little) in True corp's earnings.

Perhaps then they can deploy more 3G&4G base stations within Bangkok smile.png

PS: You just open that topic about 4G coverage today. Just to make it clear, it wasn't there when we started this discussion. However, as I promised, I'll not argue about Truemove anymore. As we can see from your previous statements, nobody can change your mind.

I just don't get why you are so anti-Truemove-H. I have Truemove-H and I am happy with it, the coverage is great and the price is right. I was with DTAC before and their 3G was non-existant, so I switched.

It is a bit the same as a Apple Fanboy finding all reasons to trash Samsung and Android because "Apple is better"....

Anyways, back to topic, I will follow the 4G coverage topic with pleasure, hoping that Muratremix will help in a positive way.

  7. From the bait and switch guy

First ". Only between Paragon , central world and Ploenchit "

Well that fact is wrong so let's got bla bla about something else ..

Just like everything u say - it's all kawaffel

If you can't understand the irony here, I recommend you get a common sense (if one can learn at mid-life?)

    http://truemoveh.truecorp.co.th/truemoveh4g#pane04

Check how much it covers Bangkok.

Now shut up for further embarassing yourself.

    Muratremix,

You embarrass yourself every post you post! Please stop talking, this is getting ridiculous. You are hijacking this post !

SkippyBangkok, hang in there, we are all interested in knowing the 4G coverage of TrueMove-H (as I am about to buy a 4G phone), and we all know it is a lot better than "Paragon blabla"!

  8. Hi,

I am interested in the Volvo V60 but I had some bad luck with other cars I bought in the past (mainly the captiva which was more at the garage that in my garage).

I tried to check reviews but they have so many models I am not sure which one is actually sold in Thailand (I was told they only have one model of the V60 in Thailand with the 1.6cc engine).

Any info on your thoughts on V60 would be welcome,

    Thanks in advance,

    GJ

  9. I'm talking about 2100 mhz deployment and you are twisting it by cat ="1393567844"]Most places I went to don't even have 2100 mhz 3G from Truemove-h (so I am connected to 850 mhz network). It seems you travel a lot between

Seems ur a sucker for AIS's "real 3G" marketing - what a load of tripe

You have yet to explain technically it's advantage - good luck with that one.

I can give tons of 850 advantages , 1/3 less cells required, better in building penetration etc etc

Not to forget True 3G is the largest network in the country

But then again irrelevant , cause I am mainly on 4G in Bangkok smile.png

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Just because 850 mhz has 15km coverage instead of 5, you end up with 3 times less base stations idea? Your math sucks, you should study math in your xbox one asap.

2100 mhz 3G is pretty much better in crowded areas because they can deploy much more base stations without cause interference and serve more people. Thats why in Singapore, Hong Kong and pretty much everywhere they use 2100 mhz 3G. 850/900 mhz 3G should be used supplementarily to expand coverage in rural areas. Thats what they do in Australia, big piece of rock with Desert in middle.

Now stop ridiculing yourself and don't make bold claims. Good luck with your True 4G in extremely limited locations, not everybody lives in ploenchit/silom and vicinity.

Oh I forgot, you were the one in another thread that was throwing insults, I should have known.

    Back on topic please!

SkippyBangkok is again completely correct and Muratremix shows once again that he does not understand how mobile network works.

I am also on True 3G and I still cannot find one area (and I travel a lot around Thailand) where the 850Mhz 3G does not connect. Now AIS can still advertise on its "supposedly" better network he had in 2002, it is definitely not the best right now.

Now to get back on topic, I'd be interested to know whether Siri is actually working better with a faster Internet connection or if it is an upgraded firmware that just makes it better.

  11. TV commercials, print ads and and the printed terms and conditions seem clear...

Prepaid. From 20 September to 30 November 2556, or until there is a change of Real Move.

so I guess there was an announcement extending the promotion date until 28 February 2014?

Actually in the Terms and Conditions (in Thai unfortunately), the point 11. says:

    11. รายการส่งเสริมการขายนี้สามารถใช้ได้ถึงวันที่ 28 กุมภาพันธ์ 2557

    Which means until February 28, 2557 (2014).

What they mean is that you can sign up until November 30, 2013 but can use it until end of February next year.

I hope I got that correctly.

    GJ

  12. I am reading this promotion the same as you.

Looks like it is meant for new subscribers, and is good for another twelve (12) days.

Beginning 1 Dec. you'd default to some "normal" per minute on-net and off-net charges.

Definitely a good way to get new customers.

Thanks for the confirmation thumbsup.gif its appreciated .

This is correct but the package is valid until at least February 28, 2014. So it is well worth it. I personally changed to this package (I do not know if you can still change as a current customer or not) because all my contacts are on TrueMove-H. I save lots on calls, maximum 1 Baht /day

    GJ

  13. Your results may vary but i suspect i wrote more posts ion how true sux more than any other topic and i am not generally a complainer.

I travel around Thailand on a very (sometimes too much) regular basis and I had clients or colleagues on AIS or DTAC who had to rely on my truemove-h 3G hotspot (phone acting like a wifi hotspot) for their Internet needs when we were not having decent wifi connections. Yes they were impressed, no they didn't know truemove is actually better than dtac and ais for 3G.

Yes, results may vary but I believe I have had my share of tests in the past 2 years and Truemove-h has, by far, the widest 3G network.

Now I wish they had more interconnection links with other networks because I do get the "busy" signal sometimes when I try to call a AIS number (never with DTAC for some reasons).

Now it may just be AIS blocking them, don't know.

  14. Sux big time.

I now avoid anything with the name true on it.

    Another Thai bashing as usual.

I use True for most of my tech needs (apart from Internet as I am with TOT in my Mooban), I have no issues whatsoever.

3G everywhere, find another provider being able to do this.

And by the way, digging out a very old thread just to badmouth True....

    Sad...

  15. Hi,

I just wanted to give you an update on the TOT Iptv. I did take the plunge and got the "free package" (it includes Star World HD as a test-run).

    • The quality is ok but it is not really HD. I am not sure if it uses lots of bandwidth (I have the 10MB/1MB from TOT) but my internet is slow when I have it on.
    • The box runs Android and it is very slow. There is no way to upgrade or update the firmware. I think the box just does not have enough RAM to process the video
    • The box reset itself a few times per day, sometimes in the middle of a show
    • Changing channels takes time and when it loads the new channel, the quality is low, then get better and finally is ok.
    • It is NOT by any means a replacement to a cable/satellite system, it is more frustrating than anything

I have now changed my TrueVisions package to Super Knowledge and for 590 Baht I have the channels I need (including HD Golf, H2 HD, Fox Family HD and the Discovery package+Disney, no National Geographic or Discovery Channel though....). I will give the IPTV a break (it is free anyway), hopefully it will get better later.

I think TrueVisions has a new package coming soon called "Super Family" for 890 Baht, it could be good value with CNN and movies and channels for the whole family, will see.

    GJ

Are you sure, we just stopped our TRUE for the IPTV from TOT, runs fine for me you know, the box as wel is running fast enough and HD is HD quality.

But what kind of package do you have had from TOT did you had a regular connection or the fiber cable connection?

Maybe it got better in the past few months but all the HD channels that I had were far from being real HD.

It is an android box, I hope they have updated it. By the way, lots of channels (including CNN) will never be on the box because True owns the rights in Thailand.

    GJ

  16. I called them, it is free and part of enhancing their package with new channels.

I think it is done this way as the "new"company is taking care of contracts with the new channels for some reasons, no sure why.

I have True Knowledge and got my new channels, happy camper!

    GJ

  17. My thoughts are that if you are on TrueMove, they help you switch to TrueMove-H via SMS the same way AIS and DTAC are migrating their customers on their 3G 2100 Mhz or Trinet (via SMS).

Nothing surprising that TrueMove-H is already able to do that for a massive amount of numbers at once because their network on 850Mhz and 2100 Mhz is very developed.

My colleague is happy, it was a smooth transition!

    GJ

  18. Hi,

One of my colleagues got the same TM upgrade (he sent an SMS with the number "1" to 90022 to speed up the process), he didn't have to do anything, neither to change his SIM card. One day, after receiving another TM upgrade SMS, he had to restart his phone and he was transferrred to TrueMove-H. You can test to see if the transfer is completed by calling 9305 and see if you can connect to the "promotion" number.

    Very easy.

I think it is easy for reasonably new SIM card (within past 2-3 years), if you have a very old one, you may need to go to the True Shop to get an updated one for free.

    Cheers,

    GJ

  19. after I posted I phoned CTH and they said they had the same problem but would go on the roof and tweek something, 20 minutes later sky came back'

I have had no bills since they installed CTH on 27th July

with hindsight I would not have applied because with the exception of Sky News and prem l football the other programmes are not suitable for family viewing (My opinon) I have not got True back with the Super knowledge package also I am able to see Man U TV with all their games , I can also get Liverpool TV on their website and transfer from my note book to TV via a HDMI cable , also the package has some other True sports packages , so I am contemplating getting rid of CTH , every day their is a nigly fault .

The true package is 590b a month plus 117b a month for the top set HD box

    Hi Davidthai,

It is 590 including of the settop box rental fee, no 117 added.

Yep, CTH is growing probably too fast, can't keep up.
