Depends on which way you are going.. Lets say you are at Tapae Gate.. Goingdown the EAST side of the moat that goes around the old city. You continue past all that red-lite stuff to the very end... veer right with traffic and now continue on the SOUTH side of the moat to when it ends into a right or left turning.. you go left away now from the moat and old city.
Continue on as if you were going to Airport Central Plaza... but long before Rimping market on the left side is Chiang Mai Bikers Shop.. A grey-haired Thai guy will be there.. He is the owner for well over a decade...has a new wife and a new baby.. He is the only guy I know you can actually TRUST in bikes here. If he cannot or will not do it all for you.. then he knows who and where.
Also there is a German guy names JOE who is in his late 40's who is also as good and also a honest.. He is over near MIKE's hamburger #1 .. call me if you need help..
Jack
Your advice is much appreciated and for the future is great to know as I have been looking for a really good mechanic. However, the main reason I am doing this is to try and learn the stuff myself, so although I know I could take it to a bike shop to do it, I really want to do it myself (ideally with the help of someone that knows what they're doing).
But thanks anyway.

I have recently bought a Honda XR250, which I am dismantling for the purposes of both improving it and learning how they are put together. One area that definitely needs an overhaul is the wiring, as I want to add indicators, a rear light and a horn and the present wiring looks pretty patchy.
However...I have never done such a thing before and am not entirely confident.
I realise this is a very long shot, but if there is anyone living in Chiang Mai with an understanding of electrics and wiring and with some spare time on their hands, I would really appreciate some help and guidance. In return, I can provide food, cold beers and a nice environment. I would also be willing to pay a little for the experience if necessary.
I know it's unlikely but if you don't ask...

Does anyone happen to have a Haynes manual for a Honda XR250 1986 - 2003.

Hi
There doesn't seem to be a forum for music, but I am looking to buy a second-hand piano keyboard with weighted keys. Ideally this would be a Yamaha P85, but I am open to other models.
Thanks

Solomon, I have some old undies I'm about to throw out. You want 'em?
No, I find lacy thongs a bit uncomfortable. Thanks anyway though.

Can you afford gas?
Sure can, but if I could get it second-hand and it did the same job, I'd be a happier man.

I got Alpinestars offroad boots in your size and also got pants second hand for a bid.
Cheers Bard
Hi Bard
I've just replied on GT.
Thanks a lot

PS Thanks Monkeyofdoom, I appreciate the suggestion. I'm hoping for some real boots, but if I can't find any, I may well consider the tough leather boot option.
Hi Bard
I'm definitely interested. Let me know how much you want for them.
Cheers

Ideally I am looking for a pair of boots and trousers that would be suitable for off-road riding, but I am flexible. The boots need to be a size 44 and the trousers need to be very long. Condition is not a problem, providing they are comfortable.
I am based in Chiang Mai.
Cheers
PS I am also looking for a pair of boots for my girlfriend. She is a size 41.

Hi Kevin
Not sure what USTA 4.0 means, although I suspect it means you are pretty good, however I have recently moved to Chiang Mai and am very keen to play some tennis. I played every day for a month with a tennis coach in Nepal about six months ago and improved a lot and would love to take it to another level.
Even if you are much much better than me, I am fit and competitive, so should be able to give you a game. However if this doesn't appeal, any advice on courts and potential tennis partners would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Tom
Hi Tom - I don't actually arrive until Feb. 2010 and am just putting out feelers for now. A 4.0 rating is someone who can pretty much direct the ball where he wants, able to hit all strokes with relative proficiency and can keep 10 balls in play before(in my case) drops dead from a heart attack!!! I am a much better double players - only like to cover half the court. Stay in touch and maybe this thread will develop although past post regarding tennis in Chaing Mai have been rather dithery.

Hi Kevin
No worries, give me a call when you get here, I'll still be around and will hopefully have played a bit by then. I wouldn't say I am quite up to the standard mentioned above, but definitely can be with a bit more practice. I had a month of tennis lessons a while back, which sorted out my bad habits, and now I just need to play on a regular basis with people who are as good or better than I am. My number is 0869503455. See you in a few months.

I have just moved to Chiang Mai and am as keen as mustard to play some tennis. I spent a month playing every day back in July and improved a lot, but have been travelling since. Now that I've stopped, I'd like to play regularly, so am hoping to meet potential tennis partners. I'm not a bad player and am fairly fit, but am happy to play at any standard.
My number is 0869503455.

I have recently moved to Chiang Mai and am trying to buy an off-road motorbike, but have not managed to find one so far. It needs to be road legal as I will be riding it around town as well as through the hills.
Ideally it would be either a second hand 250cc or 400cc bike in good working condition. How it looks is irrelevant. Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I am selling the bike because I am soon going to be leaving Thailand to continue my travels.
The bike is very powerful, having been modified and improved by the previous owner. It has been extremely reliable and has been serviced regularly. Asking price is 90,000 baht ONO.
I bought it here from a mechanic who knows the bike very well, having serviced it for the last owner as well as for me. He is a very good mechanic!!
He is also selling it on my behalf as I am no longer based in Chiang Mai. His name is P Nga and his number is 0833 252196. Whilst his English is not great, it is good enough to be understood. You are also welcome to call me - Tom 0869 503455.
To view the bike, you will need to go to his garage, which is situated on Tonkam 2 Rd, near to the train station. If you go past the train station on your left hand side and follow the tracks, crossing over them at the first opportunity, the road is ahead of you, slightly to the right at approximately a 45 degree angle. His small shop is a few hundred meters on the left, opposite a phone box.
Happy hunting!
