Jamesons has the record for the loudest landlord.

The real question is. When will they bring out a bigger note? 2k 5k?
-
Further info much appreciated.

So how many lessons can someone miss before you warn them then take any actions based on those warnings and what would those actions be?
Its not the school im sure who abuses the system (and i am not saying you do) It is the individual of course. My question is. How do you ensure your students are not abusing the system?
My point was if you are studying Russian are there these mini tests at immo at the 90 day thing? I am doubting it as of now.
-
but surly thats the best option for someone just wanting the ed visa for visa's sake, how many thai immo staff speak Russian?
-
Is it possible to learn Russian at your school on the ed visa?

I booked through one of those links i attached, they called me & arranged to meet me at departure gate. Once met they will walk you through check in and then through Fast track lane at immigration.
JH
Not sure I understand this. Are you talking about departure or arrival?
If they meet you at the departure gate, you will have to check in and go through immigration before you can even meet them.
Meet them at departure gate where you get dropped off ( outside terminal ) or you can meet them at check in counter ( inside terminal ). They will go to the front of the check in line and check you in. They will then walk you to fast track immigration line and make sure you get thru ok. They will even hold your hand all the way to the flight gate if you want.....
Arrival in the country - there will be a rep standing with your name on a clip board as soon as you get off the ramp from the plane, they will assist you getting to fast track immigration and then will wait till you bags come - if you want. If it's someone elderly using the service they can arrange a golf buggy to pick you up from plane and take you to immigration although i think they charge yo for it...
From my experience it's very organized, reliable and simple...
Hope this helps
JH
This is a nice little review of how that service works but nothing like the earlier posts stating that one could buy a handfull of these blank cards, and use at will. What you are describing here is obviously a prearranged service you must book well ahead of time.
So can anyone give more info on these cards?
-
I can not stand them. IMO they are sad and pathetic. If they really wanted to help and volunteer in a real and meaningful way there are a ton of other more worth while causes they could be committing their time to. They get off on the power rush simple as that.

I think the main thing that grinds my gears is calling it a Retirement visa, but you have to be over 50! My point being lots of people under 50 are retired and most likely have more money than a lot of the over 50 retirees.
It is like they can get their heads around the fact that some people can be under 50 and retired.

Well of course if i buy the land house thing, i would form a company and get a non im B then put the house up for sale once completed and try to turn a profit etc
Forming a company for the purpose of buying land is against Thai law. Someone suggested doing some research .. good advice.
Forming a construction company to buy land and build houses would not be illegal. It would be trading employing and paying tax. Doing what most do to buy and live in a house is the grey area for sure, still I dont see that changing for years to come and if it did it would prolly be beneficial to those people, the rumors about the government is going to 'crack down soon' has been going on for donkeys years.

How did you get so wealthy while living in Thailand and not working?
Worked in Thailand for years on a WP. Have property in the uk which provides a nice residual income, have sold holding i had in a company in the UK plus a few other things.
-
If you dont want to start a business or get married you will NEVER own Land in Thailand. You can get a condo but that would be about it.
Well of course if i buy the land house thing, i would form a company and get a non im B then put the house up for sale once completed and try to turn a profit etc
However this is not what i was posting about imo there should be a retirement of variant there of for people who can afford to live here fulltime under the age of 50.

@ MJCM and LB Thanks for the info! I was looking at buying some land and building a house within the next year or so anyway. Will study the post further.
I still think there should be a long stay yearly visa if you have x amount in the bank or whatever.
-
Checking the rules about living in a country before emigrating is a good idea, saves time and money.
you're cute.
-
Why didn't you snap up a Thailand Elite card while you had the chance?
I was not as wealthy back then. But maybe Thaksin will bring it back
-
That it is possible to be UNDER 50 and be retired.
Why is there no visa for rich people who are under 50 who don't have to work but would like to live here?
I do not want to get married or start a business.
There is simply not a visa to suit me.
/Rant
(all be it quite civil)

The most important questions is;
If Thaksin gets back to Thailand and takes control, will the pound strengthen against the baht?
-
My thoughts?
I think thaksin was corrupt a little bit.

Yes, I've done a quick google. Found The Pattaya Orphanage [."]http://www.thepattayaorphanage.org/]. It's not too far from our hotel also. Will probably visit during the day and take a few supplies for them. Thanks for the idea!
Fair play to your sir!
I have been having a pretty shitty day but this got me thinking about how lucky I am and how hard so many others have it! I may try to do a good deed myself rather than stomp around pissed off with everyone and everything.
Peace out

I've just thought of something, Last month a company came out to service the air-con, since then it hasn't worked as well as it was before the service.
Is there any chance that they may of messed something up and the air con is now burning way to many units?
Maybe i am just clutching at straws!

Look at your older bills and see if the charges are correct, i.e. end reading of previous month matches start reading of next month.
If the bills look, ok. Check out your wires, some neighbor could very well hooked up to your lines after the meter.
Switch of the main in your place for a few hours when you go out and take a reading of your meter.
Check the reading when you come home again, before switching on the power.
If it's not identical, you know you're paying for someone else's electric as well as yours.
I will try this!
-
Hi yes he tried turner my breaker off and the meter stopped running, Will check bills vs meter when the guy returns.
I know they will just say i am liable but i don't understand how this happened at all!
-
I have lived in this same building in a studio room for about 8 months, I have always used the air-con as much as i like and also cook etc..
now since i moved in every month my bill has been between 1400-1600B mostly aorun 1500ish.
Last month the bill came in at 2400, so i was abuit pissed off I paid the bill and for the last month have gone out of my way to use less electric, I have used at least 50% less air con, and have had the doors opens etc to keep cool.
Now this months bill comes in at 3600???
The bill comes direct from the government, they said they will send someone out on the 5th to check the meter.
In the mean time the building manager checked the meter and said he thinks its ok.
Any ideas or experiences like this? what are my options pay the bill and move out?
thanks

So even with the visa you still have to do exstentions? They dont just stamp 59days(as it says on the phil embassy website) when you arrive?
