  1. re post #148 ^^^ here you are - please excuse caps, that's how it is on the website Thai Law Forum

    TREATY ON COOPERATION IN THE EXECUTION OF PENAL SENTENCES BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE KINGDOM OF SWEDEN AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND

    Desiring to cooperate in the execution of penal sentences by enabling offenders to serve sentences of imprisonment, confine ment or other forms of deprivation of liberty in the country of which they are nationals, thereby facilitating their integration into society;

    An offender convicted in the territory of one Party may be transferred to the territory of the other Party in order to serve the sentence imposed on him in accordance with the provisions of this Treaty

    Came into force on 1 June 1990

    refer to link for full agreement

    and not limited to Sweden

    Thailand Ministry of Justice Department of Corrections

    IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A PERSON CONVICTED OF A CRIME IN ONE COUNTRY TO BE TRANSFERRED TO HIS/HER HOME COUNTRY WHERE HE/SHE WILL SERVE THE REMAINDER OF HIS/HER SENTENCE?

    A. Yes. Under the Legislation Procedure for Cooperation between States in the Execution of Penal Sentences Act B.E. 2527 foreign nationals convicted of a crime in Thailand, and Thai citizens or nationals convicted of a crime in a foreign country, may apply for a prisoner transfer to their home country if a treaty providing for such transfer is in force between Thailand and the foreign country involved. Nowadays, Thailand has 24 bilateral prisoner transfer treaties in force in France, Spain, Canada, The Republic of Italy, United States of America, Sweden, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, The Republic of Finland, The Federal Republic of Germany, The Republic of Portugal, The Republic of Austria, Israel, The Republic of Poland, Denmark, Hong Kong S.A.R., Switzerland, Norway, The Republic of Philippine, The Republic of Estonia, Czech Republic, Australia, The Federal Republic of Nigeria, Netherlands and The Republic of Mali.

    In Thailand, a prisoner must serve a minimum period of imprisonment . . .

    Is this done at the prisoner's request, or as a matter of course? Does anyone actually volunteer to come back to a thai prison, at least from the more civilised penal societies? I've visited prisons in Oz and Thailand, and it isn't hard to work out where I'd wish to spend a lengthy period when given no choice in the matter.

    to: OZMick

    Friend of mine was in LOS in slammer for long time,he refused to go home "on treaty".He was Swedish known gangster,he knew slammers in Sweden and he preferred sunshine and rain of Thai sky over solitary rooms behind polar circle - dark,cold,indoors all day.Here he had:his"hut" in the garden,servant,cook,ladyboys,

    very interesting company of international crooks and...the last but the most important:he could enjoy his habit!

    There were more people like him,who made same choice.

    And I know about one Thai crook,who was busted in UK,who tried in vain transfer to Thailand.UK authorities refused his request,despite the fact,that his request was supported by Thai government.They knew well,that he would be released instantly - he was Thai diplomat,who carried suitcase full of "youknowhat".

    this two examples do not support what you had said above.

  2. this tragic story has simple explanation :

    "this is economy!stupid!"

    poor daddy had sleepless nights thinking about 6(six!) dowries he would have to cough up;

    he used the first available excuse to get rid of this problem.

    brothers were snitches,his partners in this crime.

    you are mixing up Muslim Pakistan with Hindu India. in Pakistan the parents of the groom pay!

    are you sure about that?you are right in 25%(may be)

    read this:

    http://pakistaniat.c...enace-of-dowry/

    read also 50 comments which follows this article,you will find only one,which corresponds with your claim : Patans in Baluchistan has to pay walwar for bride.

    this customs goes with ethnic lines,not religion.Arabs in Gulf and Saudi pay close to one million bucks for bride.They can afford it.

  3. POL Embassy forget to mention,that the guy was very tall:190cm,more then 6 feet;

    another thing - picture is outdated(passport nice photo,may be 5 yrs old),today he looks older and not so healthy,

    there is another picture in the net.

    Other things indicate,that he was retired and his trip to Phuket was holiday,probably - bizness and pleasure.

    The most optimistic scenario is - dementia;it is the most likely as well.

    Someday they will find him,or he will find himself.

  4. The answer is obvious - try German restaurants,"By Otto",the one in GoetheInstitute etc

    In ChiangMai there is sausage factory,which sells its products nationwide,

    sausage - kielbassa - they are very similar things.

  5. There is division in Tourist Police,at least there is one in Bangkok which deals with ....yes.....with farang-criminals.

    My friend is sort of robber and once he had bad luck with his business,they handled him...he had very bad memories from that incident;

    I mean - he did not like it very much.To say more - his business was to rob other farangs,not Thais.

  6. Strange accident, she fell onto the tracks ? SMRT has double doors so outer doors cannot open until ttrain is alongside

    Double doors?

    Not in Ang Mog Kio that time,not in many other stations.

    However - accident is strange,apparently she fainted,according to eyewitness;but I heard

    somebodys opinion,that she had been pushed by other passengers,who were in rush for seat.

    Rat instinct prevails in Singapore and you can observe this yourself on MRT stations.

  7. The fine for overstay should be on a sliding scale or something.

    I'd like to see it as 500 per day for the first 5 days,then doubles every day until the exit. And then blacklisted.

    I can understand that things happen and a few days overstay can be forgiven, but 53? This is just a blatant disregard for the law and should be punished severely. :annoyed:

    No Khun HighOnThai!Overstay is very serious crime against beaurocrazy and should be punished by mandatory death.Hang him high!

  8. Your account has been hijacked;only Hotmail itself can return it to you - be patient and persistent.Gmail? - they have the same problems;

    my account with gmail was hijacked;how ?- logger program in cafe.

    One can not be to demanding as a "cheap charlie free customer".Try www.fastmail.com.au or www.hushmail.com.

    However,I think,that you should stick with hotmail - you are used to it!changing habbits can be painfull or impossible!

  9. one more thing,as somebody said already - the most obvious thing is - the battery,in i-phone it is not replaceable and you can not open the case:this is as easy as morning cereal!you do not need to know more!

    It is not like buying fake french cognac,whisky or marlborro.

    Buy 2nd hand i-phone3GS,previous generation to current one ;it has outstanding sound quality.

  10. Canada! there is not such thing like i-phone copy!Nobody made i-phone copy,the things,which look somehow like i-phone and have "Apple" logo - they are very different then i-phone;

    the only copy is:LOGO and external design(poor),everything else is DIFFERENT!I-phone has got internal memory at least 8G,it doesnt have microSd slot and double Sim card.

    One must be 100% idiot to take that "fake"i-phone as original one.

  11. None of that made any sense.

    This is very clear story,easy to follow and to understand;very interesting and very disturbing in fact.

    In this forum there are plenty insiders,who could tell you all the background:who and why.

    Buy somebody a drink - you will know everything!

    It is going on some years and this subject was present in Thai Visa already,more then once.

  12. I took a ride in a rental van (with driver) DEC 2009 RT from Khon Kaen to Ubon Rajathani ... the place that intrigued me the most for absolutely no specific reason was Yasothon ... I would like to go back some time and stay a while.

    I look on your avatar- picture a and it is obvious what is the specific reason:you are rocket guy!Go there in may - you will witness rocket festival.

  13. Hello!In Sanur there is good place,well known - "Swastika" - old and new;it is known for its very good restaurants.New Swastika is attached to place called Ramayana,which is cheap - 20 $ only,

    but staying there - you can use facilities of Swastika,its nice pool and you will be served breakfast there.There is shuttle tourist bus between Sanur -Kuta-Tuban- airport for 20 or 25 thou.rupiies.

  14. ..........................

    Hmm.. I am hungry now.

    ............ Different dishes, different restaurant, different style. Only tourists think that the best Thai food can be had anywhere - Thai food is much too varied for that to be possible. There's a myriad different dishes and even after 5 years my wife occasionally introduces me to something I've never had before

    Good post, nikster. Anyone visiting one of the restaruants mentioned should tell the owners about this topic and the recommendations.

    ...........

    Constipation of concience leads to automatic constipation of stomach,dont'you know it?

    The best about Pai is...by-pass

  15. Why were they acting suspiciously? I wonder if they absorbed some of the drug, that would do it.

    They must of seen the X ray machine and thought Allah what are we going to do now. I'm guessing there are no toilets before you pass through the X ray machine, excuse the pun:whistling:

    What machines?Do you remember movie "Total Recall" with Arnie?Is it the same sort of machine - walk through - somebody watch the screen?Amazing!In BKK Airport?

    And they dare to come here?
