  1. The info is incorrect, 5R Motor is a copy manufacturer, the picture is a X-Road 125, with Photoshop'ed rear swingarm. But looking at the engine it is clearly a 125cc (the plastic air-wings and small cylinder) also I believe the X-Road 250 which most have seen in Thailand has a 5-speed gearbox.

The official website from 5R Motor is already taken off the Internet, likely due to copyright violations http://www.5rmotor.com/

spoken yesterday to Tiger Motors...actually 5R is not a Manufacturer but it is just a trading company only(former FYM staff started 5R at the beginning for their liking but later to the dislike of FYM and other Companies)...you're right the picture is the 125 with the plastic wings . The sachs x-road has 5 gears here in thailand .

  2. i actually did so 6 month ago without feedback and fyi i just sent another request...hope i can get a firm membername than...

    I gave up years ago.

I thought the X-Road was a bit asthmatic but I didn't ride the Boxer. Didn't you guys ride the G-Max?. OK it's a scooter but felt quicker than the X-Road, as did the Kick Ass. G-Max had very good brakes for a scooter.

Are we allowed to mention the skeleton bike with the gas tank as part of the aluminium frame? Will it be bigger than 250?

    Hi ,

The aluframe....lets not mention that one ( it is also the reason why no pics were allowed in this room), as it is in developement stage for an overseas Manufacturer . But it looked pretty sexy when we went . I saw it yesterday a bit closer to finish and it has 250 cc ( not+ ) .

I did test the X-road yesterday and must say that i was positively surprised. There are sure certain things that could be "more" but i found the ride comfortable and it took the bumps "ok" for a road bike with "light offroad" abilities....need to add that i am not an offroader so real offroaders as we had in outr group wished for more power and possibly better shock absorbing.

The G-max is a very nice bike and unfortunately i never actually rode it but what i read on feedbacks it seems a great scooter.

    happy trails,

ah & don't be confused over my usernames...working on a solution on this with Thaivisa.

  3. How does one go about getting a tour of the Tiger factory?

This would be of great interest to me. Any contact info?

Hi , it was announced on other Bikers website/Forums. Will try to arrange another one in a couple of month's again ( if possible at all) and post it here.

  4. Will tell you how i saw it when driving it myself....if they let me on TV :D

If you would pay some advertising bahts, like everybody else who fairly promote their businesses on Thai Visa, rather than creeping around the woodwork, popping up with a new nic everytime somebody wants to ask a question about a Tiger motorbike, we would not only let you, we would do our best to have as many people see it as possible.

    Food for thought...... :)

  5. Motorcycle Thailand and Thaivisa have nothing in common, and also there is absolutely no problems between moderators and owners of both websites. On facebook, both “Thaivisa” (George) and “Motorcycle Thailand” (John) are friends...

Personally I have only one comment on motorcycle Thailand, if you not like it don't visit it.. It's as simple as that... Internet is all about freedom...

Good on you that you are friends now( george & john)....hope it becomes more.

Thats precisely what i meant, the link often only appear as an underscored name not saying where exactly it leads as rooo(and many others, including yourself) posted and than you click on that link and "bummer" same old page again...if i'd known i didn't bother . Yes, internet is all about freedom but did you ever wonder why some links are allowed here and some not :D ??? but hey it's all about freedom ... :) or is it not?

Interesting to read on the other thread that Honda didn't show a CBR 150 nor a VTR 250 on the Motorshow ..anyway we at least know the price of the VTR250 from your page , not even sure if and when it is available.

  6. post-101680-1269613638_thumb.jpgIt's looks like a chopper, but it's to small for me (had to sit on the passenger seat when I was driving). Have just used it for one trip (1000 km). Upgraded to a Honda Magna 750 this year.

    picture of the bike

    Hi Geir,

Thats the Ryuka....its a chinese bike , believe zongshen makes this? How did it run( for the 1000 km)?

I bet you have a lot more fun on the 750 Magna...i also just got a Yamaha 750 cc Chopper, it needs a bit of work before i'm on the road with it...but it got the clean green book so i figured it's worth fixing it up nicely .

    enjoy your ride

  7. I did not mean to "horn" :) exclusively your post but please take the time and look around on this bikers forum on almost every thread you get a link to the same website... do you still wonder why i posted this??? I think it is pretty clear that this website is profiting from the visitor count and related google adsense , maybe more....my point of view it is a commercial website and often self promoted...i find it "hidden" advertising and therefore suggested that Thaivisa and that other website are affiliated. If it is, than i find it better to speak up.

Back to your Honda search...here is the official Honda website: http://www.aphonda.co.th/honda2008/

Funny I was just looking at that. It does not show in the catalogue for the motor show any changes to the 150.

http://www.aphonda.co.th/honda2008/price/price.pdf.That was one of the sublinks.

    Cheers.

I think the most reliable info is to have a look at the Motorshow....there is simply too much "guesswork" around and everybody claims he is right...

  8. Somehow I think there is no "hidden" advertising with that link. Actually the mod of the bike forum an the owner of that site are not what I would call friends.

However, it is just the only good english site about different bike models here in Thailand (beside of the source of Thai Visa of course) all other pages are mostly about a club or about a specific make.

You forgot the Golden Triangle Riders site- still the most accurate and useful motorcycle-specific site in Thailand hands down.

Yes, i thought this site(gt-rider) was worth mentioning( and there are more !!!),this in particular the reason my asking why we only get the link to just one site all the time. I hope they are working on some kind of solution to the "brainwashing us stupid" by linking us to just only one website. It's a bit like free election North Korea - people don't get much choices...same here.

Patcat pull your horns in mate. No one brainwashing you stupid as you say. I'm just trying to buy a bike , nothing more nothing less. So when I read some of stuff you post, well at the end of the day I don't give it much credence either.

    Thanks for your input anyway.

PS : That is not a TV source, it's google search for HONDA BIKES THAILAND.

  9. I bought a 125 cc chopper new from the dealer last year, and was not given license-plates, told me the same thing as the person with the Tiger, keep all paiper with you at all time and it will be ok. Drove it from BKK to Koh Chang and back again, passing many checkpoints with out getting stopped. Also had the highway-police driving back me for at least 1. km without getting stopped. I just think the police man that stopped the person on the new Tiger, just whanted tea-money.

Is there anyone that nows that for sure, if it's legal to drive without licenseplate, when your waiting for it to arrive (allways bringing with you the paipers for the bike)?

I just think the police man that stopped the person on the new Tiger, just whanted tea-money.

I thought the same...i had a few bikes new and without plates...never any issues and even i was stopped and asked i showed the said "proof of purchase" and thats it. I believe this may vary on different province...Bkk seems to get along without red plates and Chiang Mai too...i never drive around on pattaya or Phuket so can't tell much about but many licence offices in northern provinces will tell you "no red plates needed anymore".

    patcat

No tea money was given. It was a legitimate ticket issued.

Lots of discussion about this in the Bike forum. In Bangkok redplates are not issued for new bikes. No one really knows why. Despite your experiences, the law definitely is that all vehicles need plates to be driven on a public road legally, but it is selectively enforced in many areas of Thailand. It does not appear to be enforced in Bangkok, but it is vigorously in Phuket, new with papers in hand or not, your getting a ticket guaranteed.

They have been playing with license plate recognition software at the checkpoints here for a few years, and had video recording the license plate numbers before that, so maybe that is why.

And Btw, I don't think anything 125cc can be called a chopper. :)

It would be great if they could make up their minds about the red plates....maybe they come up with something better...but maybe better to keep the state of confusion so the BiB can still make money .

125 cc chopper is a bit exaggerated...maybe its a typo, maybe he meant 1250 cc?

  11. OK folks, some feedback on my experience with Hood jeans.

The jeans I had were the K7 heavy duty lined jeans. They were not a "skinny" fit, more of a comfort fit but not baggy, I guess and with clearance for bike boots underneath.

Very thick material, pockets also of a very strong fabric so they don't wear-through after a few weeks of having keys/coins/tools in them. Washable in the same way as any other denims but take longer to dry because of the lining. The back of the jeans is cut higher than the front so that, if in a crouched riding position, you don't get a gap between jeans & shirt. The Kevlar lining material was also quite thick, comparable to a teatowel, I'd say but less flexible. This lack of flexibility made them a bit more cumbersome to wear than ordinary jeans but far more flexible than leathers. Because it's stitched into all seams, the lining doesn't ride up in use.

Although I've not seen them, I think the "Army" jeans are lighter weight while retaining the same level of Kevlar lining. But Hood will tell you the answer on that one. They reply to e-mails within 24 hours usually, except weekends. These are the ones I'm looking to buy now, for use in Thailand.

I used to work in an engineering design office where leathers would have been unacceptable - even though 2 directors were bikers - but I wore these jeans to ride to work & in the office too. So they're quite presentable & not uncomfortable to wear all day.

I must admit, they got a bit warm in hot weather but were still cooler than leathers. But the bike I had at the time - Triumph 675 Daytona - was very warm around the legs even in cold weather so this tended to emphasise the problem. I wore them in the hottest of UK weather but that doesn't begin to compare to the 40C we had here in KK yesterday!! In those conditions, I think anything would be unbearable. Maybe because of the rearset footrests on the Triumph, I never had any trouble with balooning at high speeds.

Hip armour made almost no difference to the appearance of the jeans but knee armour affected flexibility & was uncomfortable. I never used the knee armour after the first few outings. I think I'd buy without armour next time round.

I can't really comment on the jacket as it's been added to their product line-up since I bought my jeans. But I think I'd not buy the armour.

Draggin' Jeans have been mentioned on this thread somewhere. Before buying Hood, I compared the two brands and it was obvious that the level of Kevlar protection offered by Hood was, at that time, far superior.

    Hope this is useful.

Thank you for all the great info. highly appreciated...i think the K7 jeans i will go for too and mostlikely without the armour. For the jacket i am still undecided ,

  12. Guys you are worrying me now.Check this price list from Honda, updated Feb 2010. No mention of CBR 150 but VTR 250.

Is Thaivisa by any chance affiliated with the link you posted here? On almost every Bike-thread there is a link to that page...not that i find this page particular bad but if i would have wanted to look at this page than i would have looked it up anyways ..now i try to follow a link expecting something new or good but it is the same old hat...even google searches are posted to lead to this page . It is getting annoying. Better to make a banner ,than having this kind of "hidden" advertising.

Hope you guys work something out

  13. For me, baggy means cool. :)

yes,you are right but baggy on higher speed is not that great with the wind.

I think the tourmaster will do you fine...it is not too baggy but wide enough to remain cool and not to have to much wind-movements.

I still looking into getting myself a pair of those jeans...when i have them i can come back and tell if they are too hot or not...maybe martinL want to comment on it too.

    happy trails,

  14. Have a loook at what Hood Jeans have to offer.

    http://www.hoodjeans.co.uk

I've had their stuff in the past & it's superb as is their customer service.

I have a question ...do you think that these jeans maybe too hot for here? I really like them but am a bit worried about the heatfactor really. Also, did you have them with armour? I assume all the pics of the jeans & lacket was done without the armour ...that would make them look all different again, i am guessing.

  16. Nice stuff Martin.

A pity they don't do a cargo style, I find jeans too hot or tight.

I do need a pair of baggy, cotton Kaks with hip protectors.

Thanks for the link, some good info & links have turned up from you guys. :)

Actually i have bought my tourmaster meshpants on ebay the shop was called "riders direct" (us based)and i have to say this is a good dealer, decent price ,fast & fairpriced shipping & swift responses .

  17. Hi BigbikeBkk,

You right this ducati looks nice ...i also like the triumph street triple, goes for appr 580000 thb new -like the "triple" engine ...but this is 280000 thb over the budget from saorsa.

    here a street triple picture:

  18. If you actual read something you would know that I sold my old bike for around 1.2 million so I financed only the difference.

Personally i would not buy a Motorbike that i can't pay in full.....since a Bike is a "luxury" in my own personal view this is how i do that. If you think it is ok to finance it than so it shall be ...really it's no one else's business.

Hope you have fun with it,
