I thought you can only get the METV from your home country, meaning you have to go to the second country to get an METV in your second passport. Does anyone know?Anyone here have multiple citizenships therefore multiple passports? Might be a good idea to alternate using each one for a METV. For example:
1st time - Use your home country's passport, go to the Thai embassy in your local city and get the METV visa in that passport. After 9 months go back to your home country.
2nd time - Now you're in your home country you use your 2nd passport from a 2nd citizenship/2nd country but go to the same Thai embassy in your local city and get a METV visa in the 2nd country's passport. Enter Thailand on that passport. After 9 months go back to your home country.
Then do that loop swapping between passports/visas continuously.
I just wonder, would immigration at the airport be able to put together that it's the same person entering on a different country's passport? Surely with the full name being the same in their system and on both passports it's highly likely their system will match it. If not by the name & birth dates then by the photos in their system. Or if their fingerprint scanners get up and running then by the fingerprints. What do you all think?

I can't remember ever being greated with a smile from a Thai Immigration Official while entering the so-called land of smiles.

It's more to do with keeping track of all farangs in the Kingdom. The lovely side effect of military control. The online notification system for long term stayers is truly a brainless policy. It's just so stupid. Heaven forbid, you're caught in Thailand without a hotel to stay in. Is there any place on earth where it is easier to find a cheap hotel?

I was also there today. I was surprised how efficient they were, I usually dread the time wasted, but I was out in about 2 hrs. Truly the first time, I can say they seemed to have there systems working.

I assume you have changed your passport since 2001. You would/should then have a new passport number which isn't attached\tracked to your old passport. So the overstays won't appear on your current passport arrival and departure date list. Maybe they can do a more detailed check but they will not.The three years is mentioned on the TE application form. I have just submitted my application as a safety net in case I can’t find new employment before my current contract expires. I actually overstayed a couple of times in 2000 and 2001 so it could be that I am running the risk of refusal in case I apply. Does anyone have experience of being granted a TE visa after having overstayed long ago?

I use it every month and sometimes get a better rate than on ground for the AUS . Although after fees the rates are very similar.

Does anybody have some on the ground experience with the Cha Am area. I'm looking for recommendations for a place to live - Condo or House, or even a good real estate agent.
I have been to Hua Hin & Cha Am before and I will take a trip across (from Jomtien) in the New Year to set up a quieter lifestyle in 2018.
Thanks in advance.

I was wrong in the last two UFC fights in which McGregor proved himself to be not just all hype! Can he prove me wrong for a third time?

I generally travel with a Suit Jacket and Pants. I have never had an immigration question from an official or issue with entering or leaving. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

China is just copying the American play book. It's just a matter of time until the old guard wrench back control, then we will see fireworks.

Would be good if I could donate, instead of having to deal with visa hassles.

Seems like more rules to keep the Aliens out! Now I know what I see in the mirror, after a big night on the sauce.... An 'ALIEN'

I have done what you're doing... no issue. But they are cracking down now. Can do as suggested above or try to explain if quizzes that you have not finalised your outbound details and will be leaving Thailand within 30 days.

OP, thanks for the heads up. I never check my visa upon arrival. Will be doing going forward.

Sorry to say don't expect you to last more than 12 - 24 months. But, happy for you, if you prove me wrong.

Not long before some of the 8 million plus Chinese decide to live in LOS.

They will charge what they think they can get away with! Living here, you get to know prices and when they try it on, I just move onto another vendor. I don't waste my time any more, I take my business elsewhere.

Agree with OP, a lot of the problems can be put down to corruption. Good Catholic morals at there best.
