This is a direct quote from the previous Lonely Planet guide to Thailand.

Smile Court is a budget Hotel (less than 600 baht) which keeps rooms available for walk-ins at the busiest time of year.

It's located on the Soi opposite Soi Pattayaland 1 on the second road side, about 50 yards up on the right.

The Woodlands is fine, but there is an awful lot of construction going on around the front of the hotel. Ask for rear rooms and you should enjoy your stay.

Can't say that I've noticed, still 2 am Go-Go's and beer bars pretty much open all hours.

Loma Hotel is on Soi 18, about 1.5 km from the maim Pattaya Naklua Road. Without transport it is probably too far out of the way if you are remotely interested in going out at night.

There are multiple building projects going on around it, and even at 500baht a night I wouldn't recomend it.

The Woodland resort is in a much better location around 50 yards from the Dolphin roundabout. It is located on the Pattaya Naklua road. Only a 10 (or 5!!) baht ride on the circuit. Not stayed there so can't comment further.

I've used the Visa Shop on Soi Bukhao, it's located on the right just past Soi Diana Inn. Never had any problems with them. They are run by a brummie called Sean.

The CSA have long arms, but thay don't extend to Thailand!!

I normally go to bed at around 4-6 am and sleep until 2 in the afternoon.

I retired last year at the age of 38. I've spent the past year chilling out in Thailand and after Xmas I'm travelling around the World for a couple of years.

Hi all, I've not been able to find any English language radio stations in Pattaya, are there any and if so what are the frequencies.

What about the World service?? Where on the dial will I find that in Fun City??

As Kurgen said, the portions of chips in Kilkennys on walking street are huge. What he failed to mention is that they are the best tasting chips in Thailand too!!

branston pickle is available at the Best supermarket in north pattaya. 330 baht a small jar though!!

Walkers crisps 50 baht a standard packet in the Sportsman soi 13.

Sandy, take your holiday in Pattaya. You will only be looked at strangely if you do not light up every 5 minutes!!

Northern Thai Realty are a company I've dealt with for rental and purhase in the past.

They were extremely professional and I recomend you speak to them as well as the company you have mentioned. They are based on 2nd road opposite the Royal Garden Plaza.

Eggy-it was a nickname given to me at Oxford as other students felt I was a bit of an Egg-head. Obviously educationally challenged. I would like to bump into you one day to debate the matter.

I spent some time in the uk during the 90"s. And what I saw there in places sickened me. I was the only white face walking down the street in a part of London once, and I felt very frightened for a while. I was being looked at as if I was the one who was in the wrong country.

They may have been in business together, "Pat" may be lying to Dominik, the whole thing could be cooked up to extract some baht from the falaang!!

Most Thais are polite and decent folk, well mannered too. However, many of the other Asian visitors to the Kingdom leave their manners at home.

They are genetically unable to hold doors open letting them swing back in your face, love to stride the pavement 3 abreast ensuring anyone going the other way is forced into the road, and always barge to the front of the queue in shops,etc.

I could go on, but won't!!
