  1. Just before the latest lock down that is not a lock down but it really is ... I visited many massage shops for legit massages.  They took my temp and there was proper spacing and all of that but what really has me confused is their constant recycling of the towels on the bed.  They lay a towel over the pillow on the bed and you breath into it for half an hour or hour depending on your booking.  When you are finished and she straightens up the massage table, they always reuse the towel.  So, the next guy or all the guys that day are breathing in the gifts left behind from the previous customer.  Why bother with hand gel or 2 meters between the tables when you are sucking in the virus from dirty reused towels.  No kidding, the 6 or more different shops that I visited, I never saw anyone exchange the towel, probably because it is expensive to launder the towels.   ????   Maybe the massage association needs to do some thinking in addition to having their hands out.

  2. Thanks Ubonjoe for the clarification.  So, if I understand correctly, a trip to say Pattaya for 4 months which would require one 90 day reporting would require the hotel/condo owners to notify immigration via TM30 each time I relocate within Pattaya.  Nearing the 90 day reporting date, I would need to either mail in or electronically try to report to my home province.  Failing this, I would need to travel back to my home province (6 hours by bus), for a 10 minute reporting process, (10 minutes assuming they are a bit busy).  Then travel 6 hours back to finish my holiday.

Or, could I, walk into the Pattaya office 1 month before my 90 day is due with a 1 month rental contract and thereby change my address?   If this is possible, then would I need to inform them each time my location changes inside Pattaya after the 1 month contract expires?

    Thanks for the advice.

they will be swab-tested again on the 3rd, 5th, and 9th day, plus two blood tests to detect antibodies against the virus. All of these tests must return negative for a person to complete quarantine after 10 days.

Hmm ... this sounds to me that the quarantine is really 9 days as nothing seems to be done on the 10th day except looking at the results of the previous tests.

  4. I plan to move provinces to  establish myself in Pattaya.  My thought was to stay in various  hotels until selecting the desired condo.  When staying in a hotel they would be reporting my presents to immigration, which is a normal routine for them.  I would probably be in a hotel when my 90 day reporting becomes necessary.  Does the hotel reporting to the immigration represent a TM30?  In other words, I would merely present myself at the immigration office to do a 90 day report with no fuss?  Or must I do something else prior to the 90 day reporting?

  5. Thanks Dave for the info.  A question that I have troubles finding an answer to is on the length of stay granted after the change is made.  Currently I have an O-A which allows me to stay in the Kingdom for the entire year with only doing 90 day reporting.  If changing to the O-for retirement, can I stay in the Kingdom for the entire year or must I leave every 90 days?

Being an old buzzard, travel outside the Kingdom every 90 days is a major problem and the new insurance requirement is well .... we all know.  Thanks for the clear answer to come.  Cheers    :)

  6. I have put off traveling to BKK for a month now due to the poor quality air.  Not sure when I will go as there is something fundamentally wrong with visiting a place for a holiday when the air is unhealthy.  I would not eat food that will make me sick, and breathing the air does the same thing only maybe takes longer.  The idea of my hard earned retirement cut short because of breathing in soupy air just does not sit well.  Clean air is a basic necessity, at least in my opinion.

  7. Well in my little city in central Thailand, we have many visitors from BKK or some where.  Very busy!  I never travel when there are public holidays.  Just seems silly to me, to get on the roads that are acting like parking lots.  With all of the drunks, bad driving skills and stress.  I leave my travel for when everybody is at work.

For those people getting annual extensions for marriage, or retirement, you must have a current TM28, or TM30 slip stapled into your passport. Otherwise, no extension.

Of course it depends on the requirements of your particular immigration office.  I have been here for 10 years in the central part of the country and never had either form stapled into my passport.  That seems to be a major problem in this country i.e. each office has different requirements.

  9. Several years ago before going to Thailand, I loaded up my Master card and Visa card with cash.   When traveling to Thailand, I went into Siam Bank and asked to take out a cash advance on my master card.  I took it out in Canadian $ so there was no issue with out of country rates and as the money was already in the account there was no crazy interest.  The advance on paper was in dollars but the bank paid me in baht.  Worked very nicely ... so I would expect it cannot be done any more ... ????
