  1. I'm not sure we can blame our friendly local ISP's this time. ;) Internet users in SE Asia might have noticed slower than usual performance to European sites over the past week caused by a cable fault along the SMW4 submarine cable (primary internet backbone) which connects South East Asia, India, the Middle East and Europe together. The deadline for repairing the cable was meant to yesterday but they are trying to fix it by tomorrow.

I am using TOT and the service only really degraded today when it became almost unusable but at the moment it is spluttering along.

  2. I have been having problems with 3BB for about 2 months now and the service is getting worse. After 17:00 then forget it as the speed literally falls to nothing for download/upload and then it comes back maybe at midnight if you are lucky (jomtien area). Contacted the call centre yesterday and said I was going to cut off their service as I had complained about it 3 times this week without a reply. Today their engineers appeared out of the blue at 11:00 am to check the modem etct etc, I said the problem is at 17:00 not 11:00 so why are you here ! They continued to check aimlessly and apparently found a problem somwhere outside the village but I said everything is working fine now it's 17:00 when you need to be here. I asked what problem did you find and of course no answer as there is no problem. Please just admit that the lines are over subscribed and the useless equipment cannot handle it. As predicated come 17:00 this evening the speed died as per usual so the problem they found really helped. Why waste everyone's time with this nonsense.

  3. I do feel sorry for the predicament you find yourself in and ignore' the 'go home' gang as they cannot be bothered to take the time to put a decent reply. I love the way some replies are full of self-righteous BS telling you what you should be doing with your personal life, I wonder how many of them have kids somewhere that they are devoting their oh so grand lives to and of course their wonderful Thai wife wasn't someone they met in a Bar :whistling: Anyway I have come across some similar situations to what you are going through.

My Brother is currently going through a divorce with his bitch from hel_l in the UK and she is doing all she can to prevent him seeing his children and of course taking him for every penny she can. If you are not from the UK then don't judge the poster on his personal life, a woman holds all the cards in the UK whether she is a slut or not....if you think Thai women are untrustworthy then go to England.

As for Paypal and Ebay, don't get me started. Ebay is the biggest fraud site in the world and being in the memorabilia business myself you wouldn't believe the amount of fake signatures I count on just one page of Ebay items. I used the site a few times to generate some business but now avoid it as to me it devalues your business as a genuine seller. I have managed to get many fraudsters thrown off Ebay including using National newspapers as some of my customers try and sell me some of the crap they have purchased on this site and then I have inform them its fake. The people who run this business are only interested in profit and do not give a toss about the amount of fraud they encourage.

Now we have one of the most unfair companies in the world, Paypal. I have been ripped off three times by fraudulent customers who know how to get around the rules of Paypal so the seller can be blamed for any problems (the customer not wanting to pay extra for tracking or to insure a parcel is a common one and then they pretend it doesn't arrive and the seller gets the money taken out of their account automatically to refund the fraudulent buyer). Also Paypal will not refund you if you buy a fake item (item not as described)...can you believe that ! Don't forget that Paypal now own Ebay or is it the other way around....whatever its a nice little earner.

Unfortunately Paypal are very difficult to deal with and it will take time even if you take legal action. I hope you can get your situation sorted and I for one do believe you care for your kids...why shouldn't you get on with some sort of life. Good luck.

  4. Farang can afford the 150 baht transaction fee. However it is almost 1 day work for Thai people.

Even if they (the farangs) may be able to afford it, but there is no voucher for this fee. You will receive 20.000 THB but are charged 20.150 THB. And without a voucher one has no chance to enter this fee into the accounting. I have to pay the fee always privately out of my pocket with no refund from the NGO I work for.

Don't rise to it...you always get a troll when it comes to bank charge forums. They sit in a lonely room somewhere trying to get foreigners to all to start arguing about how unfair everything is and they always say 'Farang can afford it'...dead giveaway of a troll.

  5. 3BB are crippling international speeds after 17:00 every evening ....my download speeds go to about 10kB/s in the Pattaya area. I am thinking of changing ISP as 3BB won't give me an explanation but then I think what is the point ! :annoyed:

  6. 3BB seems to be OK since their problems last months. However today I noticed my speed wasn't going above 350 kB/s downloading so it appeared I was being restricted somewhere. I checked my link speed and guess what, they had halved my upload/download speeds. I called the call centre who put me through to the Chonburi area and they changed the link speed while I was on the phone to its correct values of 1M/10M. When asked why they changed my speed they replied a mistake had been made....just imagine the amount of customers that this happens to who are not sure how to check their link speeds, incredible !

Please share with the technophobics as to how to check our link speeds.

    Many thanks....

OK log into your modem from your internet browser with what is usually 192.168.1.1 and you will now get your modems home menu appear. Now it will depend on what modem you are using but click on the option that displays broadband connection details (DSL connection) and you should see an option with bandwidth details showing your currently configured upload / download details in kbps. These speeds are configured by your friendly ISP provider and obviously you cannot change them. Just to clarify that this is not a speed test but a modem configuration setting, the speed tests are useless anyway. Hope this helps. :)

  8. Geez...

    All this "real time complaining".....

If the service is down for a full day or longer then it's legit to bitch, but this " it's up...it's down..." is just stream of consciousness bitching.

FYI I have the crappy Indy 5mg service and regularly d/l torrents at near 600k.

Yes but if its up and down everyday for at least a week don't you think its worth complaining about or are you a member of the 'This is Thailand' group.

  9. I cannot connect to my VPN through a pptp connection. I'm on 3bb. I'm able to connect to my VPN through my AIS 3G dongle so it's 3bb blocking it or something. Frustrating!

My VPN is now working...give it another try. What an absolute balls up this 3BB company are, there have been so many problems over the last month or so.

  10. in jomtien , soi chaiyapruek 3BB premier 3mb/1mb...

from today cannot play any game or connect to steam

but i have acces "https" for gmail etc

Also in Soi Chaiyapruek . Using VPN and proxy servers to get my torrents working. Could be that 3BB are blocking UDP which would explain online games and streaming having problems....a dam_n stupid thing to do if they are. Why do ISP's in Thailand seem to do their testing on live servers !!!! :annoyed:

  11. Well as my browser activity and email is all fine then they are just hitting upload/download activity which is generally called throttling to slow your speed down. Also as previous posters have mentioned they appear to be closing certain ports so you cannot do certain activity such as playing online games. I now have to ask why I am paying for a 10MB connection just to browse the internet !! If you go into the office they won't give you the truth anyway.....I have never had a straight answer from any ISP in Thailand for the 4 years I have been here. 'It must be your modem' :realangry:

  12. "Someone gets you angry driving here. You have a choice............"

If a Thai crashes into me, and I have to pay for his damage, yes, I am angry, not because of an inability to pay, but on principle. Call it what you will, racism, extortion, corruption etc, I am not happy about it, and I believe most on this forum would not be as well. This is only one example of many incidents that can effect your overall feeling of hapiness. For some, it may be the final straw for them and they will leave, for others, it may be just their first negative experience and they will cope it. It's all very subjective, and up to the individual, but, these incidents can, and do, have an accumulative effect on people, over time.

I agree with you that we all have "a choice" and I am choosing not to believe that you would never, ever, let anything "bother you" in Phuket / Thailand. :) :)

Exactly right. A young Thai idiot crashed into the side of my car a few weeks back and I was immediately surrounded by hostile motorbike taxi drivers calling me names to which my wife told them to keep their mouths shut. I basically had to pay the moron who hit my car to get out of this situation as to sit parked in the middle of an intersection for hours waiting for the police to turn up is stupid. There are bad things that happen in this country so face it and people (foreigners) have a right to complain...that pathetic saying by some Farangs 'this is Thailand' onlys serves to allow more corruption, abuse, and scams as if its acceptable practice.

  13. I have had appaling speeds from 3BB since the World Cup started but as other posters mention since Wednesday it has literally gone into meltdown. It is nothing to do with the amount of seeders or the torrents sites, it is the fact that you cannot connect to any computer outside Thailand....the Thailand Wide Web. As I am writing this the speed has just slightly improved....pathetic at 40kB/s but at least its gone upwards. All my speed tests show I am getting less than 1MB even though I subscribe to 3BB's 10M Indy service. I have reported my problem to the call centre three times this week and nobody has done nothing. To me it does not matter if you are on Indy or premier, the whole system is screwed and of course there are no answers as to why. First time I've heard of a speed upgrade slowing the system down but what can you expect from totally incompetent ISP companies in this country.

  14. http://www.3bb.co.th...?pkg=premier5mb

looks like my premier packed is not more on the website, and 28 July they start upgrade 4 mbit to 5 mbit, so maybe the problem today has something to do with these upgrades.

This website makes me laugh. To quote :-

"The speed that users can use maximum depending on the number of users".

I have the 10mb/1mb package and I am currently getting speeds of 10kb/s when downloading if I am lucky so how many users does that equate to ! They should call it the Thailand wide web because outside Thailand it is absolutely useless, I may as well get out my 56k modem from 15 years ago. A pathetic service who constantly blame the end user equipment, I have already used TOT and CAT so only True to go but what is the point.

  15. Well HTTPS might be OK but my torrent download/upload speeds have taken a massive hit....hardly any speed at all since this morning when I was at max. Basically if there isn't a torrent user in Thailand then I may as well not bother....this is so tedious. What the hel_l did 3BB or whatever they call themselves now do today and also their stupid call centre do not even answer the phone. Boring boring boring !!!!

Also my internet speed is sporadic to say the least...this page took 1 minute to load. Please don't say its only me out there as I have touched nothing.

  16. Thanks for the update. I had a situation where I was down for four day a few months back but that apparently that was in my local area (or so they said) . The call centre are not answering the phone nor are the local Pattaya support...they never answer when they don't know what to do. When will they ever sort out a decent internet service in Thailand !!!!!

  17. Has anyone lost their international upload/download speed this morning around 10:30. I am with 3BB and for the last 12 hours I have had good speed (the correct speed) and now it looks as though someone has just decided to kill it (hey we don't want good service do we). Just would like to know if this is a countrywide thing or my local area in Pattaya.

  18. WOW... This is the 3rd time challenging all Ahbisit bashers to come forth. C'mon StarWars boy... what's the hold up? So easy for you to sit there in the comfort of your home and draw your light sabre on the PM. I want ALL Red Tshirt Gang lovers to let the world know how you would have handled this situation were you in Ahbisits shoes. Pray tell how you would've dealt with unruly mobs burning your city, terrorizing government buildings and infringing on all others civil rights, attacking the middle class working man and his families all while causing literally billions of baht in loss to the country and all the law abiding citizens.

You will not get a reply as all these red shirt supporters do is criticize but have no solutions. Also if Ahbisit steps down now then exactly who should become the new PM and what are his new policies for getting Thailand back on track.....c'mon Red shirt supporters lets here you !!

  19. The red shirts do not want an unconditional ceasefire. They will only make more impossible demands. Why is the foreign media supporting the red side. Why are they ignoring that the reds have arms as well?

Sorry I need to say this.

    I love your "Avatar" :)

On to responding to your comment.

The foreign media has been doing an awful job of reporting the story, the red's are the poor underdogs, and of course if they report contrary, they will be dismissed now since most of the other stories are saying the opposite.

My biggest problem is with calling them Protesters. It's above and beyond a protest.

Right on both counts....the BBC reporting has been incredibly naive and biased towards the Red Shirts and pretty much makes Abhisit the fault of their consistent violence.

Yes these are no longer protestors but just out and out criminals and thugs. I see youths who appear no older than 18 laughing and throwing molotov cocktails while smiling to cameras. The immature idiots dropping their trousers to the army and laughing, is this what you call a sensible polictical protest. It is not even worth calling majority of them Red Shirts anymore as this is no longer a political issue and more of total anarchy and how much trouble can they cause even though they haven't a bloody clue why they are doing it and for what purpose as long as money is in their pocket. Why do posters keep calling these people Isaan farmers....they are quite clearly not and I have mentioned this time and time again. I have never seen an Isaan farmer with an M79 grenade launcher have you !!

  20. Obviously, you have not been around Thailand very long. Who do you believe grows the local food and raw materials within Thailand? Who drives the taxis, buses, etc.? Who are the majority of the people in the military? Who are the majority of the people who work the low paid service industries in BKK and the tourist towns? They are rural people (non-BKK, Pattaya, Phuket) who, in general, side with the red shirts. Redshirts and their supporters are harder working people than most of the elites who sit in cozy desk chairs.

Wrong, you seem to under the illusion that the north has the poor people while the rest of the nation has very few of them. Could not be further from the truth.

Oh, and so you know, most office-people I know off, that work for 8-12k a month in travel agencies and many other things, all come from poor backgrounds, some support the reds, some do not...but they all have 'desk chair' jobs...so they are not real workers?

Exactly right.....some posters seem to think everyone having an office job in Bangkok is part of a yellow shirt 'elite' who sit on their backsides and do nothing. Also why do people keep saying that the red shirts are all Isaan farmers when quite clearly their is a large number of them presently in Bangkok that are not. There are some real stereotype postings.

Correct. In addition, many think all the farmers in Isaan support this Red Shirt movement, something the Red Shirts leaders keep saying, but of course that stereotype isn't the case either. Many farmers don't want any part of these guys. Hence, the 1 million demonstrators promised by the Red Shirts that were going to come into Bangkok and burn the city down turned out to be mostly honest laborers from the Bangkok suburbs mixed with street thugs.

Indeed, my Thai wife's farming village in the North East have nothing and want nothing to do with violence and Thai's turning on Thai's. Also all the surrounding villages have nothing to do with the protest either so this civil war seems a very far-fetched claim as it seems more like isolated gangs of thugs on motorways. The red shirt leaders have to keep talking the game up to keep their faint hopes alive.

  21. Obviously, you have not been around Thailand very long. Who do you believe grows the local food and raw materials within Thailand? Who drives the taxis, buses, etc.? Who are the majority of the people in the military? Who are the majority of the people who work the low paid service industries in BKK and the tourist towns? 22. Everyone would love a peaceful solution but it is quite obvious that this is not going to happen. The government have tried to offer solutions only for the red shirts leaders to keep changing their requirements under orders from their convict leader hiding in Montenegro. You cannot deal peacefully when one side of the argument will only accept conditions on their own terms....its no good putting your head in the ground and wishing for something that one side quite clearly does not want. The red shirt protestors left in Bangkok are not there to hold out the dove of peace its as simple as that.
