  1. Hi kamalabob2, thanks for your reply. My car is about 2 years old. The 1st year Viriyah insurance was included in the price when I bought the car.

Approaching 2nd year, I named my wife and I (2 person) the only 2 person who will be driving this car in order to get a discount. The 1st class insurance from Viriyah insurance to be exact cost 17,296B instead of like 22,000 plus baht.

Is there any good auto insurance company better than Viriyah insurance? Just in case they raise the insurance premium to an unacceptable amount next year, I've an option to jump ship.

  2. You can go anywhere for body type repairs.

Only go to Toyota if you want genuine parts and if it is repairs under insurance which also requires genuine parts.

We had minor repairs done to our last year and insurance paid, but it was also in addition to an accident repair which was supposedly my fault and we got the additional small stuff done at same time at an outside shop.

My premium went up following year by 2k baht.

Yo bro, thanks alot for the info. Really appreciate it.

In future, if necessary (fingers crossed), I will bring it outside for repair jobs.

  3. Yea I believed Toyota indeed overcharged me. I recalled asking them how much does it cost to change a steering wheel from the old model which I'm currently using to the new model Toyota Vigo sterring wheel, they quoted me with a price of 15,000B. <deleted>...

Anyway what done cannot be undone. Lesson learnt. In future if I were to do any sorta repairs like these, where can I go besides Toyota?

Can I go to any car workshop outside that's more reasonable in terms of repair cost and still able to claim from my insurance company?

    Thanks in advance.

PS: The minor repairs took about 10 days.

  4. Below are the description of the dents and scratches on my car.

Dent 1: About the size of 5 baht coin on my car's tailgate (highly visible) (the main reason why I pushed my car in for repair)

Dent 2: About the size of 1 baht coin on my passenger's right door (hardly even visible unless very close inspection) (probably someone's door hit mine)

Scratch 1: About 5 cm scratch along the right side of the front bumper (highly visible)

Scratch 2: About 5cm scratch along the left side of the front bumper (hardly even visible unless very close inspection)

Scratch 3: About 5cm scratch on my right side step (highly visible) (they replaced a new one)

By the way, the Toyota I went to is in Chiang Mai opposite an electronics super store (I think it's called SP or something).

  5. Hi guys, I've been driving my Toyata Vigo (insured by viriyah) for about 2 years without any claims from insurance company whatsoever (ODO below 10,000KM). Long story short, over the period of 2 years, I've accumulated about 2 small dents and a couple of minor scratches on my car.

I decided to bring my car over to Toyota. They came up with a repair bill of 25,000B for those minor scratches and dents. My 1st class car insurance paid for all the repairs.

My concern is will this claim affects my insurance premium for the next year?

I mean back in my country, it's compulsory to buy 1st class insurance for cars but if you do any claims, the insurance premium will be higher the next coming year.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Any driver means....any driver.....whoever drives...as long as they have a licence I guess.

If the Viriyah is the company toyota give out as free/included when you buy a new car......then they are crap....we had them first year and changed as their service sucked.....our experience anyway.

Yes when I first bought the new car on Jan 2011, Toyota gave me Viriyah 1st class insurance but till now I've yet to receive the terms and conditions of my insurance policy despite repeated requests from them. They told my girl friend there is no terms and conditions booklet for the 1st class policy... I just realised why 1st class insurance is so expensive because it covers any driver. Anyway, I'll be putting my name as well as my girl friend's name in the insurance next year in order to get a cheaper rate. Both of us have valid driving licences.

BTW bros, which insurance company would you recommend besides VIRIYAH? (in terms of cost, coverage as well as services)

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Hi Nawtier, how many driver/s do you have? I suppose one is you and the latter could be just about anyone right?

By the way, is "The Viriyah Insurance" a good and trusted insurance company?

I paid 18k this last renewal earlier this year...any driver.

  8. Oh plus these Thaivisa chappies offer insurance but I know FA about them!.

Thaivisa chaps are brokers, I obtained my insurance through them (all done and sorted from the comfort of my office) and actually had to use it yesterday when a kamikaze scooter driver failed to see my stationary vehicle and plowed straight into the back of me at speed, a quick call to AxA (my insurer) and the insurance guy came to the scene promptly and all was sorted in under an hour.

yepp, Thaivisainsurance.com can give you online advice in English language

Vigo is in general expensive to Insure, as its popular among thieves who export them

my 2010 4x4 auto 4 door cost 21-22k baht for second year covering 760k?baht in Viriyha

The best Insurance is the one who accept using new original parts in your Toyota garage, and has a credit there so you dont need to pay :)

and as transam says, 2 named drivers only and you save like 15-30%

I bought the 4 door Toyota Vigo Pre Runner. I can lower the insurance premium by about 15-30% just by adding anyone's name into my insurance? If that is the case, it'd be great. I mean I'll put someone else name and I pay much lesser.

  9. Hello, I'd appreciate some help regarding the insurance on my Toyota Vigo. It's about 6 months old since the first day I bought the new car. Toyota gave me 1st class insurance from "The Viriyah Insurance" and it cost like 20,000+ THB a year. I'd like to know after my 1 year insurance is up, I gotta renew my insurance before I can drive. I seldom drive the car (ODO 2,000KM) for 6 months and most of the time, it's in the parking lot.

Is there any cheaper insurance available for this car besides the 20,000+ THB a year?

    Thank you.

  10. Hi guys, kinda need some help here. A close friend of mine passed away last week while I was in England. I'll be going back to Pattaya next week to collect some of his belongings and send it back to his son in England via EMS. He entrusted me with some of his belongings when he was still kicking. I've searched the Thailand post website to find out how much it'd cost for me to send his belongings back to England but to no avail. My friend does not have alot of belongings maybe add up to lesser than 1KG.

Can anyone here tell me how much it'd cost for me to send his belongings back to England if the parcel is

    >500g = ? Baht

    <1KG = ? Baht

    >1KG = ? Baht

How many days (estimate) does it takes to deliver the parcel back to England?

Thank you very much.... That's the last thing I can do for my good friend...

  11. Hi guys, I need some help here. I'm currently staying in Chiang Mai and intend to buy a Toyota Vios (609,000B) come this Feb. I've a Thai company and holding a Non B / Business Visa. I've prepared the downpayment of 200,000B and my Thai gf will be my guarantor. As for my monthly income, it shows about 100,000B coming in every month into my personal Bangkok Bank. I went to a couple of Toyota showroom in Chiang Mai but they told me I need a work permit, blah blah blah... to buy a car. I'm sure I read in this forum that many guys bought their car with 25% downpayment, etc....

Please point me to the foreigners friendly Toyota showroom in Chiang Mai so I can buy the car using my personal name instead of my gf.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. Hi guys, I'm in Thailand, Chiang Mai. Recently bought 2 pieces of properties using my Thai company and rented them out. Long story short, here goes. My Thai GF is the one collecting the rent, issuing the rental receipts, contracts and stuff like that under my instructions. As this is the beginning, I'm letting her manage my 2 properties till I can find an ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY to fully replace her. I've a small problem here which I hope I'm able to find an answer here.

Can anyone recommend me a good and honest (Reputable) professionally managed ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY in Thailand, Chiang Mai please? (Perferbly able to speak good English)

I'll need ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY to

    1) Collect Monthly Rental

    2) Renew Annual Contracts With Tenants

    3) Pay Whatever Expenses Involved

    4) Deposit Monthly Net Profits Into My Thailand Bank Account

    5) Take Care Of My Tenants

In other words, it doesn't matter if I'm in Thailand or not, my assets will be well taken care of and run by itself.

    Thanks in advance.

  13. Your net profit is what you have left after deducting your wages and those of your employees, this includes the cost of any benifits you give yourself or them. Then you deduct the cost of what goes into product you're selling, plus any expenses that you have, rent, gas, transportation etc. After all that=Net Profit

For example, every month, my revenues is 100,000B and 30% (30,000B) will go into my checking account.

    Revenues: 100,000B

    Checking Account: 30,000B

    - Stocks

    - All overheads

    - Salaries

    - Benefits

    - Etc

Let's say after paying for the stocks, overheads, salaries, benefits, etc.... the account left 5,000B... Which means I spent 25,000B in my checking account for business expenses.

Note that this 30% (30,000B) dos not goes into my pocket every month. 100,000B - 30,000B = 70,000B (Goes into my pocket).

Can I say what goes into my pocket every month is my net profit?

  14. Hi guys, would greatly appreciate if someone here can show me the light. Long story short it's about balancing the checking account and net profits.

From what I know "Money In & Money Out" the amount left over is the net profit that goes into your pocket. Simple eh... however it seems confusing to me because in my business I've to put away some money into my checking account for purchase of stocks for the next coming month.

Question 1) For example every month, my total revenues is 100,000B. 30% of this 100,000B (30,000B) will go into my checking account. Is my net profit 70,000B?

Question 2) Every month, this 30,000B in my checking account will be use to purchase stocks and normally end of the month, there will be 5,000B left over. Left over 5,000B consider as???

Any simple and easy way to calculate my real net profit? Please help!!!

    Thanks alot in advance.

  15. Sorry for missing in action. Kinda busy with my work here. Ok my girlfriend and I visited about 3 showrooms around Chiang Mai area. Here are the infomation that I got back from them.

    - I'm able to buy the car under my name (no problem)

    - I'll need a deposit of 25% upon delivery of the car

    - My Thai girlfriend will be my guarantor

    - Her blue house book or something like that

*** By any chance, if available, we don't mind buying an old car and carry on the monthly installments if the car is working fine. PM me the info. Thanks
