  1. When did you report it?

The page you linked to says that the Home Office will email you within 5 working days telling you what to do next, so if you reported it immediately you should have heard back from them by 30th June. What did they say?

Assuming she entered with a settlement visa as your spouse, her initial leave is valid for 33 months; even though her visa was only valid for 30 days and she had to enter the UK within that time or obtain a new visa vignette.

So she does not need to extend her leave at this time and is in the UK legally.

However, until she receives her BRP she will have no proof of this, which she will need if she wishes to work, register with your GP etc.

If you have not heard back from the Home Office by now; chase it up!

Not sure what you mean by "her initial 30 day visa she got at the airport;" surely you mean her initial 30 day visa she got from the embassy?

    Hi 7 by7

    Thanks for your reply .

Yes I meant he 30 day visa she obtained at the embassy which is due to expire on the 15th July .

I left it a while after the BRP collection due date assuming there was a bit of a backlog . I emailed them on Friday 8th so they should reply next week .

I just wasn't sure if i needed to extend her initial 30 day vignette. Your answer above clears it up . Thanks Dan

  2. *** UPDATE ***

We have applied for the Visa and delivered what we thought were all the necessary documents. However, my partner was then informed that Appendix 1 or Appendix 2 was also required to be completed.

They would not state which one that we needed - odd.

I had a look on the website and opted for Appendix 1 which I couried over to her to complete. This was handed in, then a few days later she received a call from the Visa Centre saying that she needs to complete Appendix 2 instead !!!

The whole process seems to be a confusing minefield of misleading information and unclear instructions: When going back to the website it states that Appendix 2 should be completed by applicants from North Korea!! However, having now downloaded the 18-page Appendix 2, I am wondering if that does need to be completed instead?

To top it all, the Visa Centre said that they had e-mailed my partner a link to the correct Appendix that we need. Needless to say, no such e-mail was sent to her and of course the telephone number they called her on does not accept incoming calls. In short, they are making it as difficult as possible. Not to mention the increased cost and recent $ 900 NHS surcharge fee introduction.

    Any thoughts/advice please!!

    Thanks as ever.

I think appendix 2 is the financial requirement form isn't it ? When I did my wife's application we had to fill out appendix 2 ( financial requirements form ) by hand and it was submitted along with all the other documents .

  3. Arh ok I guess I got it wrong then .... Hopefully it will be ok .

Just looking at the uk gov website . It state that we must meet one of the following

    married or civil partners

living together in a relationship for 2 years

engaged to be married or to become civil partners

We have been together for 7 years married 4 and lived together for 3 years over 6 (I travel to Thailand for 6 months for the last 6 years ) s o maybe we will fall in to the second category?

  4. My wife had an original copy but mine was submitted to the uk embassy along with a certified translation and then they posted me a uk certified marriage certificate in English and a copy of the Thai one so I just put those in

Are you sure you have a UK marriage certificate ?

Sorry but that sounds unlikely if you were not married in the UK.

I could be confused then. When I got married in Bangkok we had to get the certificate translated and certified then submitted to the uk embassy in Bangkok to register the marriage in the uk. They then posted me copies of both certificates to my address in the uk which had a red stamp on and something like "certified marriage certificate " I can't remember the exact wording .

Seems crazy that the certificate that the uk embassy sent to me with there stamp on would be refused .

  5. According to the UKVI website with a settlement visa they can ask for extra info to add to the info you have already supplied in "a reasonable amount of time".

I have read a few threads on a couple of other forums in the last few days where the visa has just been refused for simple things that could easily be fixed.

    I hope it's ok.

I'm hoping that if the ones I have submitted are not good enough they will ask for the Thai original one .

If it was refused maybe I can appeal against it and submit the Thai one then .

  6. Hi,

My wife went to Vfs today to submit all the documents for her settlement visa application .

The guy from Vfs that checked all the documents mentioned that the marriage certificate might not get accepted because it's no the original certificate .. We submitted the English and Thai copy's that are posted to me at my address in England? The only other certificate we have was the original one we was given in Thailand but that's in Thai .

    What's everyone submitted ?

Could they refuser the visa because of this ? Or will they just ask us to send them the Thai version ?

    Thanks

  7. First of all, and I'm going to sound pernickety here, it's your girlfriends application, she is the one that has to satisfy the Entry Clearance Officer, the decision maker, that the proposed visit is genuine, affordable and that, on the balance of probabilities she will return home at the conclusion of the visit. You don't actually "obtain a visa for your girlfriend" though of course you will be part of the process.

It's not important who you address the sponsors letter, "to whom it may concern" is as good as anything. If you are sponsoring her write a short letter saying you've been living in a subsisting relationship for how many years it is, give brief details of your joint ties here, working at the same place will help, brief details of your finances, the trip including the length, including where you'll be staying, and any plans for the future, as I say make it brief.

If you're staying at your family home then submit a letter of invitation confirming that you can stay there and what accommodation is available. A copied water bill doesn't really prove anything, to be quite frank my partner has never supplied any more than a letter as I've described and she's always been successful, though I know some people like to provide a lot more.

As you say a letter from her employers giving the details of her work, how long she's been there and that she's expected to return. UKVI staff sometimes call employers to confirm the details, so if the original letter is in English they will expect to converse with the author in English. You say you work there as well, confirmation of that would help.

Original bank statements are required for both of you together with evidence of the source of the income. If you live together give evidence of your accommodation here in Thailand. Supply a copy of your passport, bio page and the pages that evidence your stay in Thailand.

From what you've described, you have joint ties here, you work and live together, you're both going to the UK for a short holiday, it is short isn't it? I don't envisage a problem.

If you've been living in a relationship akin to marriage for more than two years then she could apply for a standard visit visa as your partner, to be quite honest there is no benefit in applying as anything more than as a tourist.

As you rightly say, current UKVI guidance is not to include photographs, I suspect they've been overwhelmed over the years. I used to include a photo of my partner and I every time we travelled overseas, the same information is in our passports, so we now don't. Likewise a note from your employers would prove you work together, though many couples who don't work together still get visas.

    Hi oldgit,

Thanks for your response which will be very helpful; I will follow this advice.

Yes you are quite right, I think it was poor wording on my part.

Regarding an invitation letter from my family for accommodation, this can be scanned and printed off my end in Thailand right? Should I get her to sign it also? (sorry I am most likely over-thinking it and worrying due to the trip being only 5 weeks away).

Bank statements will be printed off my online banking website here in Thailand.

That;s it, thanks again for the help, much appreciated!

Im not 100% sure if this is correct but printed online statements would not be accepted unless they have been stamped by the bank.

When applying for my wife's visa I ordered bank statements to my parents home and they sent them via DHL to me in Thailand.

  8. Thanks for the replies,

When building the application. We have been completely open and honest .I included both her refusal letters from the ECO and made reference to it in my supporting letter . Basically saying that she made a silly mistake and panicked . She knows what she did was done wrong and would hope as fact this is a settlement application the ECO wouldn't hold it against her .

She didn't receive a ban of any kind

  9. Hello,

My wife went for a 1 month holiday to Spain in 2007 . She overstayed by a couple of weeks . This was before we met

We met each other in 2008 and married in 2011

We applied for a UK visitors visa in 2011 and again in 2012 . Both visa were denied .

Basically the wife didn't tell me about overstaying in Spain and ripped the pages out of her passport before handing it when applying for the visa's when interviewed over the phone. she lied and said her son ripped it out . When pressed by the ECO to tell the truth she did come clean. This was the main reason for refusing her visa s

We are now looking to apply for a settlement visa . All the requirements are met. What do you think are chances are of it being granted ?

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

  10. Hi,

Just bought Destiny a few days ago on PS4, been able to level up a char to lvl 12 atm. But I seem to get disconnected from the game servers a lot which is kinda irritating! Some times the game will not even start, see attached picture (googling Nightingale tells me i need to re-install the game, which i've tried once but didn't change much).

I have a 13/1 mbps internet connection from True, when i do a line test its showing good speed and ping.

Does anyone else experience this issue?

    Thanks

What's your Nat setting on ?
