It's pretty ironic that a man from sweden (cold place, way north of the equator) should freeze to death in Thailand (tropical land). You'd expect a scandinavian to be pretty experienced in dealing with cold weather.

But there's no accouting for alcoholic stupor . . .

The fruit I'm curious to find the name of is similar to tamarind. However, the fruits/pods aren't as long and they're black (velvety) on the outside. The inside is pale. The taste and texture of the fruits is similar to tamarind. The seed is also pale.

I don't know the thai name for it but would like to find out the english name.

The thing about the Mancunian guy is that I feel sorry for him cause he seemed a little on the daft side. I mean for someone smuggling 3000 xtc tablets he sure didn't take much effort to conceal them.

And then he got 99 years for pleading guilty instead of the death penalty? I guess he has hope that at some point the British government may intravene. Cause 99 years in that place seems worse than death to me.

He's been there 6 months with 98 and a half more years to go!

The term United Kingdom is pretty generic, even in English (as is the term, United States). So its no surprise if there is no specific term in many languages that would refer to the United Kingdom of GB an NI without having to say the whole lot . . .

I am a young, female, civil engineer who would like to relocate to Thailand. I am currently based in the UK where I work for a large consultancy. My experience is mainly in Ports and Coastal Engineering but I am currently working with Flood defences.

However, I would not mind working in other branches of civil engineering.

Is it dificult to find work as a civil engineer in Thailand?

What kind of salaries are paid?

Is it feasible to try to get a job with a UK (or other international) consultancy but be based in Thailand?
