  1. I have had the XC90 for over 2 years. Apx 40km electric range but this is now higher on new models

Also got the 5 year free maintenance package

Great car. Far better value in Thailand than overpriced Merc/BMW

most of the functions that were industry leading when the model was originally released have now been replicated by other brands

Let's hope this crazy idea gets rejected!

Two of the additional #COVID19 measures being considered by the govt for Metro Bangkok are permitting people to leave homes only on Mon, Weds & Fri and shutting down supermarkets plus restaurants on alternate day. Be prepared folks. #Thailand

So you have twice as many people shopping on the opening days. Brilliant idea. Well done. ????

  3. what has made no sense for a while is not allowing those with long stay visas to return promptly. Those with work permits and elite visas all finding it difficult because of the flight/embassy situations.

so many hotels have zero/very low occupancy so open them up with appropriate covid policies and charge those returning the current prices of 60k THB for 2 weeks quarantine

    - gets cash in for the hotels

    - gets long term stayers back spending baht

no problem also opening up to tourists who are also prepared to do 2 weeks quarantine.

I would  not consider Opening to short term tourists from any country at this point.

  4. - need to renew driving licence.

    - Have non B extension of stay and digital work permit (no blue book)

    - previously work permit (blue book) accepted to renew licence.

    - now seems Certificate of Residence required

    - don’t have lease rental agreement or utility bills in my name as live with girlfriend

    - not registered under TM30 as travel out of Thailand  every week

    - all bank/credit card/phone statements sent to office address

any suggestions how to get driving licence renewed or how to get certificate of Residence?

if go to register TM30 will this cause any problems with non registration previously or problems in future?

  5. Employer preparing docs for a Non Imm B visa to support Wotk Permit application

As an overseas national, can I apply in Vientiane?

Any experience on how long it takes to process application?

Can I get Multi entry - which would be easier for me given frequent travel - or does it have to be single entry?

  6. I have a METV which states entry before 7th June

Am I correct to assume that they would not allow my final entry on 7th June?

What will happen if I do arrive on 7th June. Given I have a number of visa exempt entries before I got the 6 month METV, will I have problems gaining a visa exempt entry?

I am then planning to return to home country to obtain another METV. Will I have problems gaining a second METV shortly after expiry of the last one.

I am working in SE Asia and visit Thailand regularly at weekends for leisure (not work) purposes and can meet the criteria for METV application for finances, employment letters etc

  7. Whilst driving around Samui a few years ago, I found a young boy lying at the side of the road after falling off his motorbike with no helmet. I spoke to his friend and offered to take them both to the local hospital. On arrival at the hospital the Dr thanked me profusely and swiftly told me to leave immediately before any locals got at any ideas. Lesson learned. Sadly I would not do the same again

  8. I have travelled in/out regularly on visa exempt entries for quite a while now. Always stay for much less than 30 days eg. Few days around a weekend.

Have noticed increasing scrutiny of passport stamps and last time IO told me I was flagged on block list on the computer system for more than 6 entries of 10 days over past year. IO asked me if I was working in Thailand. When I said no (which is correct) IO said they would make a note in system to remove the flag. We will see next week what happens!

  9. Visa on arrival when UK and Thai went 18 mths ago.

Kandy is nice colonial town. You can also do some inland trips to really nice scenery from there. You can take a scenic train ride from Colombo to get there but make sure go first class

The tea plantations, a further 3-4h away are stunning and you can stay in old tea factories converted to hotels

Hiring a driver when you are there is also a good idea. Cheap and easy to get around. ( we hired driver in Kandy and kept him for about 5 days - he drove us to the tea plantations, stays in some cheap digs at the hotels and then he drove us back to Colombo

    Colombo nothing special

Halle and the coast 2-3h S Colombo is beautiful

    Really enjoyed Sri Lanka

  10. I think they're normal guava that have been peeled and soaked in solution.

Thanks for reply BudRight. They are a different type of guava. They make a lovely fresh juice but seem to be very difficult to find

  11. After doing some more research, i see that its difficult to get a tee time at Siam Old Course.

So, i´m looking for alternatives to Siam.

Also got an offer, one round on Burapha and one on Laem Chabang - incl. caddy, cart, green fee and transport for 8600.

. That looks expensive. Certainly Burapha should be available much cheaper than half of that price. Check out the link to Pattaya golf rates which will give you green fees and discounts on Sports Days etc. note that St Andrews and Rayong Green Valley are closed 16-17
  12. Anybody know where and/or when these can be found in Thailand.

See a lot of normal white guava but would really like to juice up some pink ones as they can be delicious.
