1. The lake at Changsaen is good for fishing and you may be able to rent a boat. There is a small lovely Brit owned resort overlooking the lake with great Thai food. Can't remember the name. The lake fishing is public and no fees and you can keep your catch. About 30 minutes from Chiangrai

Thanks alot for the info... would look into going there. any ideal on what type of fishes are there? lure fishing? Roughly how much the boat rental is?.

Bait: $50 baht one big packet

    Food: Very reasonable

Fishes: Lots of different kinds. Up to 50kgs even.

  3. If you want to catch fish and keep, I would recommend a fishing park, near future park along the 1. It is only 100 baht to fish all day. You get to keep 2 kilos and 50 baht for a kilo after that. You catch lots of plah sawai. The key there is you have to cast to the other side near the bank. If you email me and can get there, I have rods you can borrow and help you on how to fish. I fish a couple of times a week, so it wouldn't be going out of my way. I will come back from the US at the end of the month, so if you are interested in meeting, email me at << Use PM >>

Hi i'm living at ramintra maybe we could catch up and fish together as well....

  4. There's a place called pilot 111 where I go fly fishing for Barramundi, most Thais lure fish. There are several lakes and I know at least one contains snakeheads.

I've been to Ba Pra Dam near bansasen beach. It was a rather productive trip caught a few snakeheads myself but not that big. Am actually planning a trip for this week end on sunday. Anyone can recommend a good dam? Want to hunt for some Snakeheads and jungle perch.

  5. Hi,

Was wondering if any of you guys are interested in Light Tackle Luring? Am looking for someone that enjoys the same type of fishing and maybe could arrange for trips to go for some Snake Head Hunting. I'm living at Ramintra.

  6. woah thats great. I've attached my pictures of the last trip with one of my friends. Hope to hear from you soon. By the way you might also want to consider going Barra fishing. 7. Yup... was there yesterday once again.... fished the barra for awhile and headed to another pond for some relax fishing.... managed to land a 10kg cat on 2 to 8lbs rod and 8lbs braided line.... the cat nearly took my entire setup.... but had fun....

  8. Hi all I recently just discovered a pond that holds barra from 2 to 4kgs that has yet to been open to public not even thai's. Manage to talk to the owner of the pond to allow me to fish for 1000baht. Had one hel_l of a great time there the barra's where eating everthing from swimming lures to poppers and guess what even EMPTY hooks. Ive recorded a video of me catching a fish on empty hook but haven't got the time to upload it to YouTube yet. Anyone interested in join me this week? Just PM me to arrange. Will be going there again tml. :)
