today i went shopping for some gold around the chinese market in chiang mai. the shops i went to are all members of the thailand gold association. however when i ask them to test the gold before purchasing it (by way of using an acid test kit) they all told me they wouldn't do it. i did find one shop, out of about 10, who agreed to test it for me.

the question is are the staff just being incredibly stupid (wouldn't be suprising) or is there a giant rip off happening? its supposed to be 96.5% pure. can anyone fill me in?

was wondering if anyone knew if i can fly from Tachilek (burmese town bordering Mae Sai in northern thailand) to heho or yangoon being a westerner. i will have a visa of course (hopefully!).

i am looking into bringing my girlfriend to ireland. she is burmese working in thailand currently waiting for her work permit to come through. her boss has organized to get her a brumese passport with visa inside so she can travel freely within thailand.

i am looking at ways to bring her over to ireland and to stay for a good while. maybe 1-2 years. have been to immigration office here but they weren't much help. they just told me to get her to fill out the form and send it in. does anyone have any clue about how i could get her over?????
