  1. I have been through with Thailand for a while now. A hotel wanted 10k baht for supposed "damage" I caused to a room (a drawer wouldn't open and the ice cube tray in freezer was cracked) I lost my temper and insisted the manager call the police. The police listened to both sides and said I owed 20k baht - 10k for hotel, and 10k fee to BIB for settling the dispute. When I protested I was threatened with "Monkey House". I came to my senses and offered 5k. Cops took it and left.

  2. Why would anyone want to visit, let alone live, in a corrupt cesspool like Thailand ? Admit it guys, you are all there primarily for the culture.....bwaaahaaaahaaa.

Yes, I spent 12 months over a 3 year period living it up. But trust me guys, if you get back to civilization and get a REAL girlfriend your self-respect CAN be revived.

  3. Al Quaida is not a powerful organization anymore. Anyone notice the retaliation for BL's death? Exactly.....

The only reason 9-11 happened is because we (westerners) were too lax in our security. Isreal has been locking the door to the airline pilot's cabin for at least two decades. It doesn't get any easier than that to prevent this whole episode.

EVERY email that gets sent in the civilized world is routed through gov't computers now. Don't believe it? Just as a joke, email a friend and say you figured out how to get a bomb on an airliner. I guarantee someone will pay you a visit if you live in USA. They (muslim terrorists) have been marginalized to the point of insignificance.

  4. Thaksin to me sounds like a smart man. I don't know the details about his "conviction".....could it be that he was railroaded?

Training workers, raise min wage, more rail, crack down on corruption....who can argue against that?

Anyone that seriously goes after corruption won't live long. But that is the #1 thing they need to do to get rid of their third-world status. It is a shame more Thais don't get a chance to see how civilized countries conduct business !

  5. After traveling to Thailand from the USA for 4 of the past 5 years, I am DONE with the scams.

No more Thailand for me! On my last trip a hotel manager told me I owed him an extra 2000 baht because I "broke" a drawer in the night stand. (it was jammed shut and I never used it)

I refused to pay, and insisted he call the police to settle the dispute. The police arrived, took in the story, then issued the verdict....yes I broke the drawer. I owe the manager 2000 baht, plus I owe the police another 2000 for settling the dispute! When I refused I was threatened with going to "monkey house" to calm down. I gave the police 1000 baht for his trouble and made up my mind to NEVER return. I will miss the scams, and especially the raw sewage smell in the streets. World-class tourist destination???

    Give me a break

  6. I've absolutely NO sympathy for these selfish bloody tourists (note they're ALL male) who think nothing of ruining one's quiet day at the beach because they want to race noisily about the ocean destroying the coral and putting bathers lives at risk regardless.

Let me guess....you are an overweight American woman ?

    Too easy !!
