    • The stamps in your passport are correct.
    • I assume you didn't buy a re-entry permit when you returned to Australia. If you did, you don't need a new visa and can return using the re-entry permit. If you didn't and can't return on or before the 8th your visa is no longer valid and you've lost your permission to stay until April 2017.

How soon can you get together the 800K again?

I am in Australia as we speak,

No I didn't buy a re-entry permit, and no I cannot return before the 8th.

No chance of getting the money together before the 8th.

Can I buy a re-entry permit now before the visa expires, or is it still a requirement to have the 800,00 Baht to show ??.

    Unfortunately not.

Yes you will need 800K in the bank OR a minimum income of 65K pm OR a combination of the two if applying for a non 'O', non 'O-A' visa or an extension of stay based on retirement.

If you don't have the funds now for a non immigrant visa you could try for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa. You'll need to leave/return every 60/90 days, but you can get nearly 9 months from this visa and a 30 day extension of stay. You only need about 250K baht equivalent for this visa.

Once you're funds are back up to the 800K you can convert the METV entry to a non 'O' visa/entry or go to Vientiane, Laos for a non 'O' visa and then apply for a 1 year extension of stay.

I have had a Multi Entry "O" Visa before, (3 years back), from here in Oz, and have only needed to show AU$10,000 (250,000 Baht).

Unless things as far as the amount of $$$ has changed for a Non O.

I think that a Tourist Visa may be my best option, and then going to Bangkok to apply for a Multi Entry Non O Visa.

Cheers and thank you very much for your help and advice, much appreciated :) :)

  1. Hello,

    I have a Multiple Entry, Non-Immigrant O-A Visa, issued on the 08/07/2015.

I have had to go back to Australia and have been here for longer than i wanted, due to circumstances beyond my control.

My visa expires on 8th this month - most likely done myself no favours leaving things this late.

The 800,000 Baht is now down to 450,000.

What are the best options I have ???.

I think it is quite clear that an extension is out of the question as the funds are below that required to make the extension.

Canberra have told me that they do not give out Multi Entry O Visa's, unless you can prove you have a genuine need for one.

Given my type of work, it enables me to be able to use Thailand as my base as I have done for many years.

Was informed by Canberra (told me not to say it came from them) that I can apply for a Multi Entry O Visa from Australian Embassy in Bangkok.

Was told I needed to go to Bangkok on a Tourist Visa, then apply through the Australian Embassy.

(Thai Immigration said, I had abused the system & canned my 30 day stamp on arrival, as I was flying in and out of the country every four weeks for work, for quite a while).

Also as a matter of interest, my Arrival Card & Passport was stamped, 29th April 2016 (date of arrival) & admitted to 28th April 2017.

I think this is a mistake on the part of the Immigration Officer at the time of my arrival, and will be rectified to the correct date when they deem necessary.

Cheers to everyone and any positive suggestions, are and will be, greatly appreciated.

    Visa Stamped attached below.

  2. The notes issued recently are the latest series. They issued the different denominations at different times, but all the recent notes are from the latest series. As I recall, the Baht 20 was the first denomination to be updated while the Baht 500 and 1000 the final denominations. The lower denominations are the most used and are replaced the quickest because they experience more wear & tear.

Commercial banks, as is true in most countries, collect old damage notes that they receive, and the central bank destroys the damaged note and replaces them with the fresh notes over time. There is control over the amount of currency in circulation. They do not simply dump new notes onto the market. There are still old notes in circulation and over time they will all be replaced with the latest series. This is the reason banks have no problem taking in damaged Thai notes because they can exchange them for new notes with the Central bank. They cannot do that with foreign currency and therefore will not accept torn or damaged dollars, pounds, etc.

There have only been sixteen series issued in Thailand since paper currency was first put in use. Only series 9 to 16 have been issued during the current reign, beginning in 1948, with updated images of the king and improved security

    Just for interest sake,

When I have been in Cambodia , if you come across a damaged US$ note, you can take it to any ANZ bank and they will examine it for verification and will replace that damaged note with a new US$ note

  3. Question

What is the advantage of OA visa, rather than a O visa ???

An O/A visa is multiple entry and provides for a one year stay which if the visa is correctly used can be "stretched" to allow a total length of stay approaching two years.

An "O" visa, based on retirement, provides a 90 day stay which must be extended if a longer stay is wanted. Financial requirements (800k Bht in a Thai bank or a verified monthly income of 65k Bht) must be met to secure the 12 month extension.

Please correct me if I am wrong,

But I believe an O/A visa for Australian resident's can be Multiple or Single Entry for up to one year stay,

It is generally known as a Retirement /Long Stay Visa,

The Financial requirement from Australia is to be able to show 800,000 Baht within an Australian Financial Institute or ,65,000 Baht income per month,

Every 90 Days you need to report to Immigration to be valid within the country for another 90 days,

The holder of an A/O Visa has access to a time window of two weeks before and one week after the actual report by date to report to Immigration,

    Single Entry cost's AU$90 & Multiple Entry cost's AU$225,

If you have a Single Entry A/O Visa and you need to leave the country {Thailand} but you must first secure a Re-Entry Permit within Thailand, before you leave, to be able to Re-Enter Thailand to keep your Visa Valid,

    http://canberra.thaiembassy.org/doc/form/Visa%20Form%20A%20(Canberra)031014.pdf

AIso I do not think that an O Visa can be based on retirement as I was informed by Thai Immigration

"O" stands for "Other" {Other Than Tourist or Business},

An "O Visa" can also be a Single Entry or a Multiple Entry Visa,

    Single Entry cost's AU$90 & Multiple Entry cost's AU$225,

The Financial requirement from Australia is to be able to show AU$10,000 within an Australian Financial Institute,

To be able to obtain an O Visa, there must be special circumstances/criteria that must be met,

e.g. "Executor of Estate", Natural Parent to a Thai Child" ...... ,

If travelling on a Multiple Entry O Visa then you must leave the country every 90 days which can be by Air or Road and you can return on the the same day to revalidate your visa for the next 90 days,

  4. I was also told that the O Visa to which I was first after would only ever be issued from the Canberra Embassy and of course only under special circumstances to which they would not expand on.

After finally getting the information I sort for the O A Visa I was informed by a politely spoken Thai man that if I really wanted an O Visa then get a Tourist Visa travel to Bangkok and apply for one at the Australian Embassy.

"But was also told that that information did not come from him"

P if your friend happens to have some problem with his O A, just be aware that as far as I know O is now not available in Australia. Since Brisbane closed its doors and Melbourne stop doing them based on retirement. Think only option then is to obtain your O at consulate in nearby country to Thailand . Simple process

  5. What I find hard to fathom and I do not believe anyone has brought the subject up, is why the police say they cannot lay charges as "no one has filed a complaint "

Surely surely the police with more than enough video evidence can act on their own behalf and that of the Thai and Tourism Community to remove this very kind of common threat from Society.

Firstly a huge fine coupled with a minimum 6 month closure and double that for the next "infringement " to the premises/club,

Instant sacking of security personnel ,charged and fined accordingly accompanied with a life ban from working in the Tourism Industry.

    I wish !!

cheesy.gifcheesy.gif No offense intended Kangaloo as I see you are new here, but, what, click your heels together and you're back in Kansas?

Being "new" here on TV, is, I find completely irrelevant.

"but, what, click your heels together and you're back in Kansas?"

Haven't got a clue, nor do you by the sound's of it, what you are on about !!

    FYI,

I have lived in Patong for the last 15 year's,

  6. yep i will be bringing everything with me i know its 19.6 v--6.3a but as i live in krabi just wondering if anyone knows any decent shops that actually sell these as i dont fancy drivin all over phuket i.e should i try phuket town or would i be better off at a big shopping centre

I bought one in Big C for 600baht and got it home the thing started popping from inside indicating it had a poor circuitry connection.

I took it back and informed that it had a 7 day warranty and it was the last one they had.

Should it take 4 more days for a new one to arrive i was told that i had only 3 days warranty for the replacement.

Went to the tourist police but not much interest there finally went to the big boss in a store near by and he said no sweat here is your refund much to the annoyance of the store staff.

Basically if you go buy one from somewhere then do not leave it on while you are elsewhere they are very cheap pieces of junk.

The same deal in Hatyai 600baht and 7 day warranty.

    They are made in china.

  7. Try the "Honey Inn" about 200 mtrs down Soi 4 (Nanna Paza) on the right side of the road,

It is 600baht P/Night with air con rooms that are clean and comfortable.

The security is good and it is quiet.

There are also quite a number of restaurants available close by.

It has safety deposit boxes (Free) at reception and the 60yr or so Thai Lady that runs the place speaks english quite well and is a wealth of information in regards to most matters ie: money exchange where to get good taxi service etc.

Also in the reception area there is an internet kiosk with fresh coffee.

    Cheers mate and good luck

  8. What a joke :)

Someone using some dubious photos to scam the Red shirts ???

We can see for the first man in the black carry a M16 or Carbine with a Silencer Attached ! That means he's firing Blanks !

If you want to scam someone pls do your homework first :D

That rifle is definitley not an M16 you would not of made that statement if you actually knew what one looked like - wild speculation.

It is definetley a High Powered Carbine Sniper Rifle and the piece you claim to be a silencer is actually the barrel itself.

It has a long barrel to give greater distance and accuracy over long distance as all Sniper Rifle do.

A silencer will not work on a High Powered Rifle as the velocity of the projectile is to great for it to have any immediate effect.

The term Silencer is actually a misnomer, suppressor is a more accurate term.

A suppressor requires the projectile to travel slower than the speed of sound, otherwise the muzzle crack will just occur at the end of the suppressor, making it useless. The slower projectile will have less velocity and thus less "on target" power. a heavier projectile, 45, 10mm, ect. will give better results than a 9mm, 32 acp ect. . there are full barrel suppressors like the M-24 sniper rifle that are dam_n near perfect for a subsonic .308 / 7.62 x 45 mm round.

"He" is certainly not firing blanks just because you think he may have some type of suppressor fitted which in fact he does not,

    Please do your research!!!

  9. Bank of Attyudha ate mine and it was connected to a Convieniance store,

Next day i went to the bank and they told me that there was no way i could get my card back as under international regulations it must be destroyed and that the bank had a Security Company that was in charge of such matters anyway.

I asked again if it was at all possible by showing my Passport and she rang the Security company there and then and they said "No Way" could they give it back to me "It must be Destroyed, End of matter!!

Sounds like your being touched up mate,

Get in contact with your bank and you will find the same as me i believe.

  10. I have a friend that runs a very profitable Bakery business on Phuket Island and carries out all his baking from home and delivers the products ( Pies,Pasties,Sherperds Pie) to his customers that call him when they need him,

He created his own brand name & made a large sticker that fits to the rear window on his car and on the plastic bags that the various products are put into he has his Brand name again made from stickers from a program on his home computer.

If the product is good then by word of mouth it will be sort after,

Word of advise is do not get big too quickly or you may have trouble keeping up with the demand,

Best of Luck to you mate
