I am about to accept a job in Chumphon and should be moving there in May. I have an unlocked Iphone 3GS I got in the states and have been using in China. I've read a lot a bad things about the Thai 3G network online, but all the articles/posts I read were from last year. So my questions are:

1. Can I access a 3G network in Chumphon? Who offers it?

2. If there is no 3G network, does anyone know when there will be one?

3. How do cell phones work in Thailand? Are they all prepaid or do you sign a contract?

4. What cell phone companies would you recommend?

To be clear, a gamer is anyone who likes to do role playing games (like D&D), card/board games, or table top war games. I was recently offered a teaching job there myself, and I am seriously considering taking it. I don't need wild nights out. I just need one bar with good beer and friendly locals to be happy. Also, someone earlier mentioned a very nice apartment for 5000 baht a month. Since I'll be moving there, I'd love the information on that place. Does it have a website I could take a gander at?

Hey there everyone. I am likely moving to Chiang Mai at the end of next summer and am looking for gamers out that way. Anyone who plays tabletop rpgs, warhammer, warhammer 40k, warmachine, board games, etc... let me know! I keep hearing there is a sizable expat population there, so there must be some gamers.
