  1. Can anybody recommend a (preferably English speaking) competent nurse or clinic in or near Pattaya. I need to have an injection administered in the near future with a medication that I have with me that was prescribed by my doctor in England.

The medication comes in a pack and consists of 2 compounds that need to be mixed together and then administered by injection into a buttock muscle. There are instructions written in English included in the pack.

Any advise would be gratefully received.

  2. I also had a similar experience in trying to obtain a visa recently when in England. The E-visa website is almost unusable and whilst trying to input the required information into the application screen a notice would suddenly come up stating “Access Is Invalid, Please try again. Back to Home”.

This would happen no matter what stage I was at in filling out the form and no explanation was given as to why this had occurred, leaving no choice other than start the whole application from scratch. I must have made at least 15 attempts to complete the application form and only the last attempt was successful.  I found the whole process deeply frustrating and only persevered because I needed to return to Thailand urgently.

I also tried to contact the Hull consulate but without success, when trying to phone them I constantly got an answerphone message saying that they were busy and to try again later. I also sent them an email but did not receive a reply.

I also sent an email to the Cardiff Consulate who did reply saying that they could issue a visa in a single by appointment visit as long as I brought with me the correct paperwork and the visa fee in cash.

The whole process left me wondering if the difficulty’s I encountered was just due to inefficiency or that they just don’t want Brits coming to Thailand any more.

  3. For several years I have lived in Pattaya, each year obtaining an Extension of Stay (Based on Retirement) from Jomtien Immigration.

I returned to the UK in May this year, intending to return to Thailand before my extension of stay (based on retirement) and my re-entry permit both expired in early October 2019.

Unfortunately I was taken ill in the UK and have had to receive urgent medical attention here. I am currently still in the UK and have not yet been able to return to Thailand to obtain a new Extension of Stay.

I now need to return to Thailand ASAP and want to obtain, whilst still here in the UK, a valid Thai visa (preferably one lasting 90 days although 60 days would do).  As I am in the south east of England, visiting Hull in person to obtain a visa would be a last resort. However, I would have to undertake that journey if I cannot obtain a visa from the Thai Embassy in London (which would be much easier for me).

Can any UK citizen who has recently managed to obtain a visa from the Thai Embassy in London please answer some of my below questions and perhaps give me some advice on how to go about this. I am over 65 and am receiving a UK government pension of approximately 7,800 GBP per annum.

    QUESTIONS:

a/ What would be the best visa for me to apply for and what documentation would I need to produce to obtain it?

b/ Can an application be made by post only (so that a visit to London in person is not required) or would I have to make a personal visit to the embassy at some stage?

c/ Do I have to register on line to submit an application and to make payment for the visa?

d/ Does the visa application forms ask for the date of arriving in Thailand and the date of leaving?  (this information would not be available until the flight tickets had been paid for and I would be loath to purchase a ticket until I knew that I was guaranteed to be granted visa).

Any answers to the above, and any other pertinent advice, would be very gratefully received.

  4. Hi everyone

My situation seems to have been slightly misunderstood by some of the contributors. I will then try to clear up some of this confusion whilst still asking for some further kind advice.

My extension of stay (based on retirement) and my re-entry permit both expire on 09/10/2019 (in 2 days time). As I shall not be well enough to fly by the expiry date I totally accept that the extension of stay and the re-entry permit will be null and void after the 9th of this month.

My question is: when I am well enough to return to Thailand (probably in approximately one months time) will I be granted the normal 30 days that are granted to most tourists. If that is the case, the problem resolves itself, as the 30 days will give me ample time to apply for a new extension of stay (based on retirement).

Again, any help with the above would be very much appreciated.

  5. My extension of stay (based on retirement) expires on the 9th of this month (October) and my re-entry permit expires on the same day.

I intended being back in Pattaya in good time to renew my extension of stay at Jomtien Immigration but I am currently still in the UK due to having to receive urgent medical attention whilst here.

I need advice on whether or not I will have any problems with Immigration at Suvarnabhumi airport when I am finally well enough to return to Thailand, probably in a month or so. Or, will the 30 days that are normally automatically granted when entering the Kingdom be allowed to me, this giving me time to apply for a new extension of stay.

Any advice given would be gratefully received.

  6. Returning to Pattaya after 4 months in UK – Advice Needed

I have a Retirement Visa valid until 9th October 2019 and a Re-Entry permit valid until the same date. I have lived in Pattaya, in the same house, for over 10 years (which I am returning to) and have held retirement visas for several years. I hear that Thai Immigration have recently introduced new rules, my questions are: do I need to visit immigration in Jomtien to advise them of my return? Is there any paperwork that I need to fill out? And, am I likely to encounter any problems at BKK? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Several people I know use Kuhn "A" for house visits.

Last I knew he charged 300 Baht for a single problem house visit.

His contact phone # is 0817437073.

He speaks basic English but is hearing impaired so SPEAK UP if you call him.

    Thank you for that information.

  8. Can anyone recommend a good computer guy. I know this topic has been covered many times already but I was hoping for some up to date feed back.

I have problems with my legs and so Tukcom is not really an option for me.

I have tried Wattana in Pattaya Klang a few times with mixed results.

And so if anyone has any other suggestions I would be very pleased to hear them.

Thank you in anticipation of your help

  9. I have lived in the same house in Pattaya for about 12 years and every year I have an agent draw up a balance sheet and submit it to the authorities and until now have never had any problems.

This week I called at the same agent’s office to sign the new balance sheet and to settle the bill in full. Once I had paid I was then advised that this year I was required, by the government, to arrange a meeting with 2 of the Thai nominees. I explained that I had never met any of the nominees and had no idea of how to contact any of them as this was all arranged by the lawyer at the time I purchased the property.

I was then then advised that I would need to produce 2 new Thai nominees to take the place of 2 of the original nominees and that the official documents would need to be updated with the names of the new nominees. I explained that I hardly know any Thai people and that this would be difficult for me. I was further advised that the agent could carry out the work of updating and submitting the relevant documents (presumably for a further fee). I was also advised that unless I complied with the above that I would probably be fined by the authorities. I would say at this point that I was never shown any paperwork regarding the above matter, official or otherwise.

Has anyone come across a similar situation to the above or is this a scam of some kind?

  10. In the past I have relied upon a retirement visa but this year, because of the new rules, I have decided to switch to a marriage visa. I have a savings account and a foreign currency account with Bangkok Bank but am thinking of opening a separate account with them just to hold the 400,000 Baht required for the marriage visa.

Advice please: a/ does the 400,000 need to be fresh money brought in from abroad or can it be money already in Thailand in a different bank account? b/ what would be the best new account to open with Bangkok Bank just to hold the 400,000 Baht and that maybe pays a little interest?

  11. Can anyone kindly advise where, In and around Pattaya, that I can purchase a pair of carpet slippers in a large size (approx. UK size 10). I also need a few pairs of socks in a similar size preferably of a fairly warm material. Like most people I suppose, I used to walk around the house bare foot but a recent problem makes it very painful for me to walk on bare ceramic tiles. I would be very grateful for any help with this.

  12. Hi

I have a 45 year old Omega watch that had, about a year ago, stopped working. I took it to a very polite and knowledgeable repair guy in Soi Buakhao and it has worked perfectly ever since. Directions to his shop: Proceed down Pattaya Klang from the Sukhumvit, go past 3rd Road and turn into Soi Buakhao on the left. His shop is a few yards up on the left.

Parking can be difficult here though. I hope this helps

  13. Can anybody recommend a good, reliable optician in Pattaya?

I need to purchase some glasses for general use, driving, watching TV etc.

Also can anybody give me a rough price for these type of glasses.

I hope that someone can help me with this.

    Regards

  14. I have a 4 bedroom house located near the Mapprachan reservoir in East Pattaya and I would like to place it on the market for sale. Can anybody recommend a good, proactive estate agent that I can place the property with. Also, should I just stick to one agent or place it with more than one and what should the rate of commission be.

  15. Does anyone know of a doctor, clinic or hospital able to diagnose and treat my very painful feet? I think the problem may be related to poor circulation or arthritis.
I tried a local International Hospital who carried out some totally irrelevant tests, charged me 10,000 Baht for the privilege and suggested I return for more tests (and further charges). No diagnosis offered.
Please help if you can. Thank you

  16. I live in a 10 year house in East Pattaya now in need of various repairs including painting, plastering, carpentry and ground works.

I have, over the years, employed many so called builders who have either carried out poor work or ripped me off in various ways.

Does anyone know of an honest, versatile, small company able to carry out the above work at a reasonable price? Must have good grasp of the English so as to avoid misunderstandings.

I would appreciate any help with the above.

b/ Carry out the work at a reasonable price

c/ Be able to converse in English

If you know of any firm that fits the above please advise and send contact details.

    Thank you
