    Thanks for info.

Yes, I am a brit. So on arrival I can just roll up at BKK Airport Thai immigration with passport and no visa at all and be granted 30 days stay courtesy of being Visa Empt and then able to extend my stay for another 30 days at immigration. Great!

How long before 1st 30 days expire should I go to Thai immigration to extend for another 30 days?

Can I book my return flight back to UK for 60 days after UK departure date, knowing I will extend after 1st 30 days, for a further 30 days at local Thai immigration?

"Can I book my return flight back to UK for 60 days"  - I tried this only a few days ago, as my return flight was over 30 days from arrival, they would not issue the CoE, I had to get a 2 month visa, + insurance must cover until return flight date, other option is book flight to return within 30 days and change it when you arrive - I didn't want to lose my booked flight on the 46th day so went for the visa option.

  2. I got my CoE within a few days in Feb this year, done the same process this month with the addition of uploading my vaccine certificate, even though I was going to ASQ in Bangkok, as I had a feeling the 14 days might drop to 7.  I'm due to fly 13th October, flights, hotel all booked and uploaded onto the site, that was 5 days ago and no updates, but I'm not concerned, as I'm hoping it's because things may change next week and I just need to do 7 days ASQ - finges crossed.

  3. My sympathy would stop at "if he was indeed suffering financial hardship", those who have never experienced that won't understand - I was there when I was mid 20's, but I managed to turn things around, good luck to the guy if he's genuinely in trouble.

However, I think any expat who decides to live in Thailand, should have at least  500k-1M Baht emergency cash for hospitals, repat flight, etc.  those who live on the bread line, get an agent visa (no own funds) are asking for trouble - just my thoughts.

  4. I believe, she can renew her Thai passport at the Thai Embassy you still have time, although I agree with a few others, Thailand will not refuse entry on her expired one - I think that maybe international law, a country can not refuse entry to one of their own citizens, or she can apply for an emergency travel document at the Thai Embassy.Consulate

Emergency travel document is valid for 30 days from date of issue and for single journey to Thailand only. After returning to Thailand, emergency travel document is expired and cannot be renewed.

  5. I agree the cost of UK quarantine is high, and I have some degree of sympathy for those on limited income who have travelled to Thailand, however - I have been on the edge of me seat waiting for this to happen,  you didn't need to be a fortune teller to see it was on the cards.

Anyone who has travelled abroad in the last 18 months, without some emergency access to funds and/or adequate holiday insurance (if any will cover this sort of event) is a fool.

These people are not "stuck" in Thailand, change your flight and go home, if that's not an option then there's always - credit cards, loans, family, friends to acquire UK quarantine funds.

  6. As we all know Thailand had became too expensive (not in contrast to EU countries of course) since 2006, when we enjoyed 72/74 Baht to 1 GBP.

Most Expats / retirees / tourists now hold onto their purse strings a bit tighter, at 50+ to 1 GBP I think lots will benefit, mega rich will complain about their overseas investments, with respect to import cost rises, but they will survive, as for locals noodles at 30 baht, will still be 30 baht regardless of international rates.

Without going too deep into international currency exchange fluctuation issues,  with I admit I'm not an expert - the THB is due for a welcome drop. the more THB I get, the more I have to spend.

  7. Each to their own I suppose - but not for me.

I will retire to Thailand next year at age 55, was married to a Thai and have a child.  Prior to COVID I had 4 holidays a year to Thailand, had 48 trips since 2010 and a few before that.

I want to live close (walking distance) to the bars, restaurants, malls, hospitals, pharmacies, massage shops, barbers, etc, somewhere like Soi Bukhoew.

For me that is an easy life, everything on your doorstep.

  8. At present Pfizer is my preferred choice, not that I fully trust any of them at the moment, but time will tell if my concerns are justified, but I do think there's better and safer vaccines to come in the near future, and I hope Thailand gets on that bandwagon.

I had my 1st Pfizer 2 weeks ago in Saudi, after returning from Thailand 3 weeks ago, Astrazeneca was more readily available but I held out and managed to acquire my preference.

I'm hoping, as I'm sure many of us are, Quarantine will be at a minimum for fully vaccinated visitors to LOS in the near future, however Thailand isn't looking good at the moment.

It had been 11 months since I'd seen my son, aged 8 in Thailand, I never told him I was coming incase it all went wrong, he was so happy to see me, as I was to see him.  I can't do with only seeing him once a year, although we chat online often, with limited holidays, I can't do 2 weeks quarantine on my next trip.

I just hope the vaccine roll out in Thailand gets some momentum, stay safe.

Bad surpise this morning.  Never seen this charge before and have been with SCB for more than 20 years.  Our situation is that we have been locked out of Thailand since Jan 2020 when we left to visit UK family for a brief period.  But have not yet been able to return to Thailand.

Our bank and credit card accounts have been maintained throughout, albeit with fewer transactions.  The bank balance has reduced over the period but is good for many more months' of low-level activity before needing top-up.  (This is our day-to-day working account, and separate to our 800k account held with another bank.)

Any advice gratefully received.  Thanks in advance.

Just curious, why have you been locked out of Thailand since Jan 2020? if you left for a brief period?

With so much road carnage you have to laugh... or the alternative is cry.

I'm sure there's more of the latter among family and friends.  Agree, there's so much of it around, I drive a lot from BKK/Pattaya/Loei, had an accident a few years ago, young kid  (14) U-TURNED in front of me on a scooter, I thought I'd killed him as I saw him skid down the road in my side mirror, thankfully he was ok.  3 hours in the Police station, no fault found on my part, had my family in the car, the Police asked me to give the mother 500 baht for the hospital/rescue as she had no money, which I willingly gave.

    Stay safe.

why r  u jealous if someone has enough money without working.. i worked intelligently and built a business when boys of my age were chasing girls and spending money on them to be able to touch the titties.  smart work pays. but now i feel bored at home..

i am still legally employed but dont work there. i get kind of a payment every month which is enough.

And now you want to chase girls and spend money on them.

may be im thinking in such a way due to covid craziness out there.

    visit only for my gf...

i never said immigration has me on their radar. i dnt work illegally over there and have bank statements showing money being withdrawn in thailand which is  a lot more that an IO's salary. i visited thailand many time after that incident when i was stopped and asked a few questions. never had any issue.  but as per a farang bar owner's advice  i shud flash my 3baht gold chain when i reach the immigration/VOA counter. he said thais know what their gold looks like and they wud think u have money to afford your holidays..

i created a topic back then on TV as i was worried

You're right, you never said Immigration has you on their radar, I said it , as you have mentioned more than once that you were questioned, you WILL be on their radar.

You have more than once also mentioned the salary of the IO's, in a derogatory manner in my view, what has that got to do with anything? you seem to hold yourself in high esteem over them, because you say you have more money than them.  I can picture you now being questioned in that Thai/English voice you hate so much, while wanting to enter a country you don't like.

If you think flashing a 3 Baht gold chain is the answer to all your problems, then go for it.

been with girl for nearly 3 yrs now.

    No you ain't.

Out of the "3 years" you THINK you've been in a "relationship", how long have you actually been together?

You also said you don't like Thailand, and don't want to live there, yet you want to have a child there, seems my previous post is right, you want another/easy option for a visa, to avoid handing over brown envelopes/packages?

What's the full story here? you broken any Thai immigration laws in the past?

Your child will be "luk krueng" ( half Thai ) and hence looked down on by all Thais. Unless you are going to bring the child up outside Thailand, forget it.

This is so untrue, I don't know who told you this, or how you made this assumption.
