rooster59
Junta should allow more dissent: Suan Dusit poll By The Nation Politicians are still under tight control by the junta, said respondents of the latest Suan Dusit poll, about the roles of politicians during the Prayut government. Over 80 per cent of the respondents surveyed by the poll said they perceived that politicians could barely participate in any political activities, according to results released on Saturday. However, over 70 per cent viewed that this helped keep politicians at peace and not fighting one another. Over 65 per cent said that politicians are still deeply divided, but have a low public profile in expressing the division. Only 50 per cent viewed that some politicians remain critical and vocal. Some 65 per cent to 55 per cent of respondents said the politicians should respect the law, and give useful views rather than inciting unrest. Over 70 per cent said the government, on the other hand, should ensure space for freedom of expression, while 6 per cent said the government must ensure no there is no double standard of treatment. Only 49 per cent said the government should unlock the junta’s ban on political activities. Most of the respondents also viewed that the nation’s major two political parties lack a respectful relationship and did not see any tangible cooperation between the two. jesimps
It's the political parties' job to fight each other, that's the object of party politics. If they agree on everything then you may as well not bother with elections and leave the junta in power.

Media1
This particular poll company is a fake. The real poll company had to back pedal as it revealed the people had enough of this army draining the country of its identity. Elections please and even then there's a big fight ahead. A lot of damage is unremarkable.

Instead they keep promoting politicians fighting which is pure Bullshit. Just like there road map Bullshit. NoBrainer
Junta should allow more dissent. WHY? Thailand suffers from the Herd mentality, when some nutter starts spouting off, then thousands will follow, not really knowing why they are following, but just not to be left out. The current regime might as well stay in power for another 5 to 10 years, to get rid of all of the old politicians due to old age. They don't seem to be able to make a law that says anyone that has ever held a political position, or is a family member or Crony of, anyone that has held a political position in the last 20 years is no longer eligible. That is what is needed. A complete reset, with new young candidates, with no links to the past political dynasties. It could take longer than 10 years, but could be well worth the wait, for people like the current generation growing up today. They are really not that bad, compared to the extreme Red/Yellow groups that have ruled in the past.

The path to reconciliation is free and fair elections as the last two elections were. Spain and Portugal managed to kick out fascist dictatorships in my life time..I hope to live to see the same in Thailand, Lao and Cambodia.
