After her arrest, Kaewta Pimpila, 33, told police that she decided to earn money as a drug courier for a Lao drug boss after her husband was jailed on a drug conviction, leaving her to take care of their two children on her own. The other suspect was identified as Piyong Khaipara, 53. The two were stopped at a road checkpoint on Ban Siew Songkram-Ban Haad Paeng road in Tambon Haad Paeng in Nakhon Phanom's Si Songkram district. Kaewta said she was given Bt10,000 to take the drug to a location on a road in Si Songkram district to be picked up by a buyer. Her husband was thrown in prison for being a drug dealer and she figured the best way to take care of her kids was to start dealing drugs.
