webfact
Drugs situation in Phuket at moderate level: Provincial governor PHUKET, 31 October 2018 (NNT) - The narcotic situation in Phuket has been evaluated to be at moderate level, with Krathom leaves being the most commonly used drug, said Provincial Governor of Phuket Phakkhaphong Thawiphat. He presided over the meeting of Phuket Provincial Narcotics Prevention and Suppression Command Center participated by government officials. He said some 7,000 drugs-related arrests were made in September most of which involved the trafficking of drugs. The most common item found and confiscated from those arrests was Krathom, followed by methamphetamine pills or Yaba, crystal meth or Ice, and cannabis. Officials have also found an increased use of heroin in specific groups, which had been smuggled via buses or private vehicles concealed among other items, or boats at small piers, or hidden in packages sent by private carriers. The province has ordered related agencies to set a more systematic drugs prevention and suppression plan, and to step up investigations to prosecute those allegedly violating the law and reduce drug uses. -- nnt 2018-10-
Popular Post from the home of CC
Unless you're going to 'carpet bomb' the chemical factories in China and then the jungle labs in Myanmar, nothing will stop the tons of 'ice' floating through Thailand. And as long as substances are prohibited and therefore put money in the pockets of people who provide them, this will never end. They're focus should be on 'harm reduction' vs prohibition and including ganja and tom into the mix just detracts away from the real issue, meth and heroin addiction. Addiction is a medical issue, not a criminal one and they'll never be able to 'arrest' their way out of this problem, It's been tried by far more sophisticated countries than Thailand and has failed miserably.
Retiredandhappyhere
I just wonder exactly how a "moderate level" is defined. Moderate in relation to other provinces, or to other countries, or to past years etc? It can mean just about anything you want it to be. My income is at a moderate level. What does that mean?
