Thailand Post offers concessional rate to promote more online shopping amid Covid-19 threat

Thailand Post Co Ltd is offering a special rate to encourage people to shop for consumer products and protective gears via online channels in an effort to combat the spread of Covid-19.

 

Thailand Post has cut postal fee to a flat rate of Bt19.

 

“This campaign is called ‘Yim Soo-19’ (Keep Smiling-19), and aims to put a smile on people’s face amid the Covid-19 crisis,” said Korkit Danchaivichit, president of Thailand Post.

 

“Shopping online is a good way to protect yourself against the virus, whereas the risk of infection is higher at crowded venues such as retail shops and markets.”

 

 

Korkit added that although the government has banned the export of sanitary face masks at the moment, domestic mailing of cloth face masks and alcohol-based hand gels are allowed.

 

“Reusable, fabric face masks can be sent via mail without limit,” he said. “You can choose from various services that suit your needs, including Courier Post, Logispost, EMS and ePacket.”

 

“As for international mailing, senders must show the content in the package to the postal staff, as well as declare in writing on the package such as ‘cloth face masks’ or ‘fabric face mask’,” he added.

 

“The following products -- medical face masks, N95 face masks, face masks for industrial use, and alcohol-based sanitiser gels -- are prohibited for international mail according to a Ministry of Commerce announcement.”

 

 

Products weighing below 1kg per package are eligible for the Yim Soo-19 promotion. The postal fee will be a flat rate of Bt19 and the package will reach domestic destinations within 2-5 working days. “Customers can track their package, which will be insured for up to Bt1,000, via the Thailand Post website. Cash on delivery service is also eligible for this promotion subject to a maximum amount of Bt30,000 per package,” added Korkit.

 

This promotional campaign is valid until April 30.

Yeh, right, transparent packaging ?

I mailed an international package with tracking over two weeks ago.  It is still at the BKK mail centre.

It never happened and I will never show them what i am sending.
